  1. ^^^^^^^^^ Listen people, he is closing down, which I'm sure a lot of you (especialy ghostrider) will be very happy about. I really don't see why people have given him such a hard time. From what I've seen, all he has tried to do is give people a choice. If, for some reason you don't want to shop there, don't. Simple. But instead like everthing else in Shetland, people have to b*tch and moan about it, as is done on forums like this. Now I myself am a Shetlander, as my whole family is, and I'm ashamed to say that the treatment he's had is awfull. I know sometimes he's not helped himself by buying crap goods, but theres no need for all the hostility, as he has tried to offer something new to the Islands: a cheaper alternative. And why is it, just about any new buisness starting up in Shetland, has everyone up in arms and trying to get it shut down before its even opened. So lets stop moaning about it, after all he is closing. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon. And could I just remind you of sommerfield's rather long closing down sale, which to be fair, had very little reduced until the last two days.
  2. I don't think its a case of just legalising all drugs. Now I'm all for legalising Cannabis, but think that legalising narcotics like Heroin, Crack and Crystal Meth, might help things in the short term, but the problems that come with them shall remain. OK Cannabis, in my opinion should be legalised. Why? Because People who can't get cannabis at the moment, are turning to other, harder drugs to compensate. I believe that if the police would try harder to catch the Heroin traffickers, instead of taking the easy option and targeting hashish growers, it would be better for the Isles, indeed the entire country. Folk are much more likely to be violent and abusive on alcohol, than when they are sitting stoned in their living room. I don't however think that Heroin, Crack, etc... should be legalised. It may help the death toll (which is rising alarmingly) drop, even cease, but its still going to be highly addictive. What this simply means is that, though it'll be safer, some folk will still have to resort to theft or other criminal activities to fund their habits (as I hardly think Gordon Brown will let the new Chancellor of the exchequer pay for us all to get high).
  3. ^^^ First of all, 'Happy worker' and myself, Sheltie Celt, are who we say we are. So, as you said, that's that question answered, and CHD is NOT "knowingly selling substandard goods as A1". Secondly, we do test our goods when they come in. But, we simply do not have the time to test every single item in the warehouse. We have 5 000 000+ items in store, and if you'd like to come down and test each and every single item, please feel free (as Chris himself has given the go-ahead). So if you have a spare year or two, then pop along, we might even give you a free cup of tea!!! As I did say before however, all staff at CHD buy items from the premises, and yes there are odd items that are faulty, but that is the same with every shop, everywhere! What is different about CHD, is that you pay an awful lot less than anywhere else (most of the time), and the ease of returning goods, if you so wish to do so. So 99% of the time the goods are fine, and if you would like to come down and see for yourself, then the offer stands. We hope to see you soon 'ghostrider'
  4. I'm not going to even bother going over the whole "seconds" and "B grade" stock argument again, as I feel it has been covered enough in this current forum. But when I said "[as] any stock on the shelves, unless otherwise marked, is straight from the factory", all this means is that we do have a bargain corner, where we sell goods that have been returned to us. If they are not too badly damaged or its a simple cosmetic scratch for example, then we'll sell it on at a much lower price. Its always popular with the public, as quite often the problem is purely superficial (sometimes even just damaged packaging!), and a lot of folk on a budget, find it very useful.
  5. Sorry, as it was my first time on here I messed up the quote thing. I will do better next time. And don't bother with the usual "grade b" writing or any similar jokes! ***MOD Edit*** I have edited your previous post so it quotes correctly. If you notice your mistake soon enough afterwards then you can use the 'Edit' button to correct your post. ***Sheltie Celt Edit*** Cheers for that!!!
  6. Well I myself have worked for Hodge for over 2 years, and have bought many products (including jeans), and yes there is a lot of 'tat', but I am happy with my products. As for the jeans, I have to doubt the authenticity of your comments. If you weren't happy, you could have taken them back for a full refund, or a BRAND NEW pair (as any stock on the shelves, unless otherwise marked, is straight from the factory). As I hardly think you would be happy to lose £12, just because you "couldn't be bothered" to take it back. Also we do have changing rooms, so why not try before you buy.
