I always put winter tyres fore and aft on my VW Golf 1.4 No idea what the transporter would be like. Also can't help you much with the road conditions north of Lerwick though that area (Lang Kames) is furthest from the sea so may be more prone to icing...?

Whilst I agree with you in principle, your argument may be more valid if it didn't use misleading images. For example by comparing the green and red circles (with apologies to those red/green colour blind folk) by using a circle of twice the diameter (approximately) for the red you are actually showing an area four times larger (approximately).

I have never, never , never heard of the Fort Cafe and Takeaway being referred to as 'The Fort'. Fort Charlotte is The Fort - the chip shop may be referred to as The Fort Chippy, but never simply 'The Fort'.

Whether or not Spinner said that does not make it true. I'd suspect that for a fair number of people this would have been their first experience of using SBO. Or at least their first experience of using it for such a popular event where demand was always likely to exceed supply. I might be wrong.

Fully agree with Karlos in the 'switch the rear foglight(s) OFF when you see another car's headlights in your rear-view mirror' summary. As for front foglights...if it's too misty to see with just dipped headlights...then slow the **** down. They aren't some sort of invinciblity cloak. Also - sidelights...what IS the point of them? All they seem to do is encourage morons to switch them on and think they're suddenly hyper-visible. Worst invention ever...unless someone can convince me they have a relevant use.

I can't believe that there isn't a software solution e.g. a small time delay whereby if you click on number of tickets required you're guaranteed to find them in your basket.

I had a similar experience to Karlos as far as the phones were concerned. Dial the number and either get the engaged tone (which, in all honesty I expected but thought I'd give a go anyway) or it would ring 3 times and then cut off with no message whatsoever. Redial and repeat ad nauseum. At the same time I was scanning the SBO and Ticketmaster sites. As Davie Gardner has subsequently explained, no tickets did go the way of Ticketmaster so it's no surprise I never saw any there. Where I do have issues, however is with the SBO site. KK tickets listed on page 6 and no means of searching for them other than going through each page one by one. Then after almost wearing out my F5 key I finally got the pull-down menu and was able to select the 2 tickets I wanted. Click on buy tickets and - hey, presto - there is nothing in your basket. Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit? So...more F5-ing and wahey - here's the menu again. Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit?????? Still nothing in my basket? Repeat. Repeat. Until finally the tickets get added to my basket and I manage to pay for 'em. I certainly won't be resting easy until I get 'em in my hands though. Anyway - if Shetland Box Office are going to offer a service, surely it needs to be robust enough to cater for such demand.

Could folk park at Mareel? I understand the car parks there are enormous...

Anybody got one? Are they straightforward to use? Can they be used in the sea or is it strictly a loch-based activity?

A subsequent discovery is that limited space means it is an invitation only event but the presentation should be finished by 3pm when books will be on sale.

Does anybody ken aboot a book launch this Friday? I understand it's supposed to be a book aboot Havra and the launch is taking place at the museum. That could be completely wrong, so don't assume it's correct - I just wanted to find out if my information is right.

This is quite interesting. Lerrik, and Mayweek. What about Hillswick, Levenwick, Haraldswick etc, would you also say those with the week ending? I would say Lerweek, Hillsweek Haraldsweek etc. Hillsweek Lev'nik Haraldsweek Shandrik (Channerwick) San'week (which incorporates Sannik) Not saying my way is right - it's just how I say them. Looking at it shows some inconsistency
