  1. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b519/Marshall_Brill/reeed_zpsa1194f53.jpg Subtronic is very excited to present our next special guest, GRAEME REEDIE, of the world-famous Silicone Soul. Since first appearing on Scotland's seminal Soma Records in 1998, DJ-production duo Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie, aka Silicone Soul, have occupied a special place in the over-crowded field of electronic dance music, mainly through the depth and quality of their recordings plus innate understanding of music‘s grand heritage and its constant development. They have released four critically acclaimed albums, gained residencies at some of Europe’s most celebrated clubs, scooped numerous DJ Mag nominations, played festival arenas, stormed the UK charts and launched their own Darkroom Dubs imprint which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. This will be the last SUBTRONIC night of the summer, they have all been amazing so far so make sure you get down to this for a final fling! Our nights so far this summer have all been extremely busy, and our last special guest sold out well in advance - so make sure you get your tickets early! SHETFEST 2014

Shetfest is a one day, not-for-profit all-ages music festival held in Lerwick, Shetland. Shetfest aims to bring the best up and coming, unsigned, and alternative music talent to the Shetland Islands. We aim to do this whilst keeping ticket prices in line with or cheaper than similar events on the mainland. Shetfest 2014 will be the second edition of the festival, following the success of Shetfest 2013, which saw prominent bands on the Scottish alternative scene such as PAWS, The Murderburgers, Halfrican and The Fire & I. This years lineup includes visiting acts Pinact, Chris Devotion & The Expectations, Deathcats, Billy Liar, Algernon Doll, Poor Things, Black International, Kill Surrrf, The Walking Targets, Maxwells Dead and Black Cop, aswell as local favourites Frankeneinstein and Brundlehorse. Shetfest 2014 will also play host to the debut live set of local hip-hop artist Audiopium. This year Shetfest will be held on Saturday the 5th of July, at the The Lerwick Legion. This is an all ages event. Contact: shetfest2014@gmail.com Tickets and more information of Shetfest 2014 can be found on our website www.shetfest.co.uk

  6. We're really happy to announce the Shetland leg of the Gerry Loves Records Highlands & Islands tour, appropriately titles 'Gerry Loves The Highlands & Islands'. Friday the 11th of April at the Mid Brae Inn, and Saturday the 12th in Lerwick (venue TBC) Rick Redbeard is the solo musical alias of Rick Anthony, singer from acclaimed Glasgow sextet The Phantom Band. Born and raised in the Aberdeenshire wilderness, Anthony began using the Redbeard name for his solo material sometime around 2006-7 after swindling it from a pirate. He has performed sporadically around Scotland since then, and the Gerry Loves Records split 7″ is the first Rick Redbeard release of any nature. Adam Stafford is a musician and filmmaker from Falkirk. Formerly of the group Y’all is Fantasy Island, he issued two experimental a capella albums, “Awnings†and “Miniature Porcelain Horse Emporium†in 2009. His debut studio set “Build a Harbour Immediately†was released in 2011 and was critically acclaimed by the Scottish press, turning up on a number of end-of-year polls in 2011. Yusuf Azak is an Aberdonian of Turkish descent who lives in Glasgow. After self-releasing two EPs he signed to Song, by Toad Records where he released two great albums, Turn on the Long Wire and Go Native. His new album, Peace in the Underworld, is an album of off-kilter folk pop songs with Yusuf's unique gruff-but-sweet vocals. It's also a more luxurious sound than his other records, with his excellent songwriting and acoustic guitar skills filled out with drums, drum machines, keyboards, electronics and more. Support will come from Shetland's very own highly-acclaimed singer-songwriter Arthur Nicholson https://www.facebook.com/events/597309937014189/?fref=ts

  11. Check out the fantastic PAWS ''2012 was a busy year for PAWS. It’s seen the band sign with Brooklyn/Brighton based label FatCat Records and tour the UK and Europe extensively. Their first release on the label in May, the self recorded/produced “Misled Youth EP†was supported by a run of UK shows opening for L.A’s Bleached (ex Mika Miko sisters Jen and Jess Clavin). Key shows at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival, Beacons Festival and appearances at Vice Issue Launch parties in London and Brighton were met with great success to audiences welcoming PAWS with open arms. At the beginning of the year the boys recorded their debut L.P “Cokefloat!†at the Lightship95 Studio in London with Rory Attwell (ex-Test Icicles) and was released worldwide in October 2012. Singles from the album have enjoyed lots of support from influential UK radio dj’s, receiving plentiful airplay by BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe, a session on BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne, as well as ‘Sore Tummy’ being play-listed on BBC6. Into Autumn and the Canadian punk duo Japandroids invited PAWS to join them on their European tour and shortly after that, their UK tour. The tour saw PAWS play to their biggest audiences to date, including a sold out show at London’s Heaven Nightclub. After the release of the album the band celebrated by heading straight back out on their first headline UK tour. Rammed out shows at Glasgow’s CCA and East London’s Shacklewell arms were important highlights for the trio. In the later half of 2012, “Cokefloat!†has received support from music media worldwide including features from people like SPIN Magazine, MTV, KEXP Radio, Brooklyn Vegan and Pitchfork. PAWS’ music has even appeared (to the bands surprise) on more than one occasion on the cult West London based television series, “Made In Chelseaâ€. Still fresh from a full UK headline Tour, ten shows in four days at SXSW Festival, an East Coast Tour of North America and a Headline Euro tour…the band are only just getting stuck into what 2013 has ahead for them.'' And now, they're coming to Shetland! Few remaining online Shetfest tickets available from www.shetfest.co.uk Also available in person from Baroc
