I'm still here! It's head vs heart. I know the house has been here a good long time, and my head says nothing is going to happen. Doesn't stop me worrying though! I suppose the more winters I spend here the easier it will get...

daveh, I love waking up to snow and having to dig away the snow to get out! It being freezing outside but getting warm from shovelling snow - when the snow is light and fluffy mind! Not so much fun when it's heavy wet snow. Anyway, with the sun out as well and it's all sparkly and nice - I love it. However I don't like the wind much. I never feel safe when it's really windy (>70mph). With the roof rattling and banging and the floors shaking it's like being in a continuous earthquake! I imagine the roof being ripped off and all my stuff flying across the fields... I sleep with earplugs in which helps a bit, but I never ever thought I would be scared of the weather.

Wish it was snowing hard though

Can you translate that pretty please? Sorry I don't understand...

Boilerjuice website says, in tiny writing, BoilerJuice is a wholly owned subsidiary of Welsummer Limited. Their webby is here: http://welsummerltd.com/ Found this also http://swinny.net/House_and_Home/Oil%20Prices/-3775-BoilerJuice-is-owned-by which suggests independence. However, I can't guarantee how accurate it is!!

Thanks for replies, mine came back too (phew). Having the wire/aerial not touching anything helps the reception, if you have a bad one.

Hello anyone down the south end got their digital radio signal? Mine can't find the signal any more I don't know if there is a problem with a transmitter or my radio is broken.
-
Thanks! I have found them on a map now

OK I read somewhere there are 15 inhabited islands, but I can't think of them all I have Mainland, Yell, Unst, Fetlar, Out Skerries, Whalsay, Bressay, Fair Isle, Foula, East Burra, West Burra, Trondra, Papa Stour... What are the others? (Apologies if you live on one I don't know!)

re ferry quotes... Very funny I like that Luckily the deep depressions did indeed go a bit further north than forecast, meaning 90mph+ forecast, for the south end at least, has been revised. Still a Met Office weather warning in place though.

MIght be worth watching this... It used to include the max/min as well. We were close the max line... which isn't there now of course but the trend followed closely. http://www.boilerjuice.com/heatingOilPrices.php

Cupcake overload isn't new... weren't they in a film? Wasn't it sex and the city or something? They started to appear everywhere, more topping than cake!

I use the new metoffice site, I have it set for Sumburgh airport. I usually just click the 5 day tab, and run my eyes down the gust speed... Fri 79mph atm. Updated frequently though! http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/beta/weather/forecast/?tab=map&locId=353764

Sorry I can't help you at all and I know I shouldn't post, but reading it I can't help thinking of the engineer in Star Trek. "Those exhaust manifolds cannae take much more captain" (or something) (feeling happy having seen the nice Coke advert on other thread)
-
I love the Coca-Cola adverts. OK so I hadn't seen this year's and it is a bit naffer than this one say... but at least the adverts are happy and fun! Nothing wrong with that. Me I prefer Diet Coke Oh and the 'anti-coke' one is just horrible

NHS dentist in Brae. Seen both the lady, and the gentleman who came over from Yell to help out. Both were lovely, the surgery was immaculate. The equipment was more modern than the NHS/private dentist I saw down south. Really, really nice and friendly. Best dentists I've ever had! Waiting time 6 months.

Well I don't own a car, I can't even drive, and nobody mentioned anything about being legal! Someone asked if there is cheaper fuel... and yes, it's red. [removed poor 'caught red handed' joke] What do I win?
-
What about red diesel? Isn't that cheaper and would make your car move? Or does it move only tractors? Actually I don't really know what i'm talking about :S
