The forum is full of people with problems of course, but with my issues in the past, I got one-to-one help via private messaging with one guy who followed it all through with me. Not saying you will need that for your problem but they were nothing but helpful. (No I don't work for them but if I have had good service I say so!)

When we moved house there was a phone line, with a number, but the connection was off. Nothing to do with Plusnet. Can't remember if we were charged for BT to turn it on. If it's the same in your case, despite there being a physical line and number, Plusnet won't see an active connection... (I think). Does the new house have broadband activated? If not an engineer will have to fix this up, and it does cost, whoever you go with. As far as the Plusnet contract goes, you still have it if they are providing you with a service. I think you mean your minimum time has expired? After the minimum time you don't have to pay back the hardware costs (if you chose it) and the setup fee if you leave. You are required to give a months notice though or you will have to pay for that month, which is fair enough. I'm sure you were asked to read the T&Cs when you joined Plusnet, and there are FAQs and the Terms and conditions on the site. Home and Office moving guide Terms and conditions FAQ I've always found Plusnet very transparent, maybe ask them again for the charges, maybe wires got crossed

Maybe the *driver* got it wrong so LBC etc might say they didn't deliver to Tingwall because they didn't have any orders there for wood. Maybe they were meant to deliver something else in Tingwall and it was driver error? Is there more than one Tingwall?

I know someone who is interested in moving to and working in Shetland, but is a fair way south. Both adults work currently and have a child in school, so it would be difficult to attend an interview. They want at least one of them to have a job in place before they move. Does anyone know if SIC does 'remote' interviews? Like via Skype video call or something like this? Would be tremendously helpful if they did. Thanks!

ITS have a have a HP DeskJet 1040, it has good reviews but is also quite cheap, it won't last forever I don't imagine with huge print jobs but if you don't use it much it should do you fine. It prints, scans and copies but is not a photo printer (but does have a colour cartridge). I think it was about £40ish? I sure you could get it cheaper online though if you are of a mind. It is a HP which isn't what you wanted... I've never had problem with HP personally. ITS is the computer shop between the barber and Smith and Harper, on North Road.

Could be, one skin was stronger than the other. It's definitely not rotting, and other than the smell which you only notice it if put it to your nose really, they are lovely.

I don't know what dead sheep smells like, but it definitely had an odour that wasn't too pleasant. The skin side is like white suede.

If they smell, I'm sure it's not dead sheep or whatever it is they do to the skin side it was a couple of years ago now, they were only £25 each when I got them.

I got two from [***Mod edit- At users request***], but if you put your nose to it at the skin side you can indeed smell it... My feet don't smell it though and that side is to the carpet.

Did you ask Bestpet, if they didn't already stock it? They will get it for you. I asked for a larger size of prescription diet cat food, and to be able to get worming tablets in 20s, and they duly appeared on the site Only down side is Streamline deliver the bigger items so I've had to wait a few days sometimes... WAIT Bestpet sell it - search vivitonin It's prescription only, vets will usually charge to provide one.

Respect... Perhaps, as Shetland is indeed small. Still it doesn't look like either are going out of business, can't they both coexist? (Reminds of the Bucks Fizz name saga!) What if someone else wanted to make Shetland cheese or island shaped earrings? I dunno :S All this moomin-for-tat stuff seems pretty sad

Just a thought, for those who are interested in seeing the northern lights. How about, setting up a a group, somehow, where one person sends a text message to 2 people, and those people each send it to 2 people etc. That way every gets a message about it and no one has the cost of more than 2 messages. A H O B C I J P Q D E F G K L M N R S T U A H and O would get the ball rolling texting their groups, ideally they would be north, south and middle of the islands. One of the lower tier in each group, who would have no one to text, should text the leader of a different group in case they missed it and failed to tell their group. So D could tell H, K could tell O and R could tell A.

Don't get it :S ok so they make similar items. no law against it. Who started making their item first is irrelevant isn't it? So fudge lady asked burra lady not to use her company name on the web site... so what? Isn't that reasonable?

I know neither of the women concerned. Each make a different product (one a jointed toy, the other an ornament), and a different price point. Fair Isle patterns are not 'owned' by either. They are called different things, one Burra Bears and one Shetland Teddy co. I can understand why the Fudge lady would be miffed that the Burra lady bought the domains with the teddy company's name and pointed them to the Burra site. If the the Teddy lady had gone and bought lots of Burra bear domains and pointed them at the teddy site, wouldn't Mrs Inkster be just as miffed?
