  1. The majority of kids are just kids, getting up to stuff because they can. In one of those videos a lad is taken to taks by his mother is apparently later grounded. Nothing wrong with filming whacking themselves around the head, etc., no problem with that. Going into shops with loud speakers, following people ringing a bell shouting for sex? That isn't on. Kids harrassing people in the street is wrong. To make it worse, you never know if they are filming it on their phones for their amusement to be shown around their friends later. It's sick. Also portrays Shetland in a very poor light... this is on YouTube for the world to see, as well as on the webcams at the time.
  2. slightly off topic - i came across 4 videos made by youngsters and posted on YouTube for the world to see. Most of it was them hurting themselves in stupid stunts, some was minor damage to property. Other stunts include being loud, noisy and harrassing shop keepers and members of the public for their amusement. For example watch this at time 3:41 All the kids list themselves in the credits and name themselves during the 'shoot'. I don't really care if they break their necks jumping off walls in private, but harrassing other people is lame.
  3. Getting signal errors with mine... still Ok to listen to though. Is it being relayed or anything via Fitful Head?
  4. I reserve mine online too, my only criticism is it seems to take a long time to get the books sometimes. Over 6 weeks once to get books which were available for loan from Anderson to the library?
  5. No fines? Never given one back late to know! If the library takes a week to send a letter saying it's overdue... and there are no fines to hurry people up, I might have to renew or return mine before I get it. Maybe they should look again at the fines? Not on the mobile service but for the ones who can't be bothered returning them on time. By the way for anyone who like the Sword of Truth series, I asked the library to get Phantom which is the 11th book, that they were missing, and they have it in now
  6. ... and have Temple of the winds by Terry Goodkind? If so will you please take it back!! It's overdue, you're gonna get a fine and more importantly I want to read it! I have the next two after it waiting here and I can't do anything until yours is back!!! hurrrrrrrrrryyyyyyy please

  8. Much obliged to you kind sir/madam, that is indeed most helpful.
  9. Hello I might be going to the cinema for the first time here. Where are the best seats or the ones to avoid? Are there refreshments and are they super-expensive ripoff prices like down south? Do they allow you to take your own refreshments in? How soon are you allowed in before the film begins? Do they show 30 minutes of trailers before the film? Does it take everyone ages to leave the theatre at the end - will have to rush for the bus! Any other pearls of wisdom? Thanks
  10. As a domestic customer I don't have the worries about clients that unlinkedstudent has but I do worry about the devices that are attached. Today, it was like a switch tripping repeatedly. It would be on for 1 second or less and then off again! I unplugged the router in the end. Only one computer was on when it first went off but I went around switching things off at the plug as I can't see how half a second of power over and over again was doing much good!
  11. Arrrrggggghhhhh another amercanism - period. It's FULL STOP - in this context anyway. ¸.. •*¨`*•.. ¸ Oh and some thing else - / a / is a stroke not a forward slash. \ = backslash / = stroke I'm guilty of it too though. ¸.. •*¨`*•.. ¸ oh and one more teensy edit... I mourn the lost of the way we USED to write dates 1.8.11 or 1/8/11 now everything is done just because otherwise a computer somewhere says no! You have to put in 01/08/2011. Booooo
  12. the saying "my bad" ??? It's my FAULT. Let's not turn into merrycans please
  13. Something about Shetland... it's not perfect, it has the same problems as down south, albeit to a lesser extent. The weather is bl**dy scary in winter... BUT one sunny warm, (almost) windless day, when the grass is sooo green and the skylarks are singing, and the wild flowers are everywhere, it all seems worth it. As for Aberdeen centre, it's dirty and smelly - just my opinion
  14. I'm not saying that a dog shouldn't go on a bus. I have taken a dog on a bus down south, and a damn big dog at that I'm saying I can understand the reason *why* bus companies may not want them. To aidank, I'm sure most dog owners would indeed be mortified if a dog had an 'accident' on the bus, and would no doubt try and get it cleaned up.
  15. No one picked up my point about dog poop. Dogs, especially sick dogs can make a lot of poop. On a packed bus, that would not be fun. Imagine the complaints when the smell gets going, luggage pulled through it or when people have walked in it; and the bus driver has to clean where it has been walked up the bus... I reckon that is why they do not let dogs on the bus. The pet hair is another good point, not all dog owners will leave their dogs on the floor. Plus, even the best behaved dogs can have behave aggressively in strange situations, like on a bus, if they are frightened or if they are ill. The bus companies don't want to be sued. For dogs I don't know the answer. For small animals in a carrier there is no issue, they should be allowed - they cannot mess on the floor, and don't need separate space. An outreach clinic in south mainland would be nice, appointments with advance notice, once a week.
  16. In a way I can understand their position on dogs - I suppose the owner can't guarantee a dog won't jump up at children, frighten people, or use the bus as a toilet - a sick dog especially. Not so pleasant when a dog has 'the runs', that is making its way down the bus That said, if you have a dog and you NEED to get him to the vet, what can you do? Even worse now the Lerwick vet is closed. I am not a dog hater by the way
  17. Me too. Being unable to drive, it's the only way. It's not like they can escape, or poop on the floor, or take up an extra space a paying passenger could use.
  18. I need to get some little ID photos... where can I find a booth for it? Tesco used to have one but I don't recall seeing it last time I was there. Is there another one in the town somewhere? Thanks
  19. I love my wireless mouse, it's a Logitech G7 wireless laser gaming mouse. I've had it a good few years. Before that I had a MS wireless one which was awful. This one the batteries last eight hours. It sounds awful, but you get two of them, and it takes 2 hours to recharge and 2 seconds to swap. The recharger is built into the USB stick thingy, which is on my keyboard tray. So it's never a problem, I have a ready charged one waiting for me. I have it set to a warning at 5% charge left, so I never run out of charge suddenly. I thought, given that it is five years old, the battery life would have shortened, but no, it keeps going I'd never have a wired mouse now after the freedom of a good wireless one.
  20. Bad form to reply to my own post I know, sorry Just to add, even after 12 hour car journey and then 10 hours on the ferry, depite being stressed, they were OK in the end
  21. There are probably better sites out there (feel freee to post ) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-13877321 I've seen the ISS zipping across the sky with the naked eye before
