  1. Olive Tree in Toll Clock has homemade GF cakes, and biscuits. Museum staff are quite clued up too and should sort you out, though they prefer advance notice.
  2. Noo that's from this: webby Fab game Trial is free with windows 7, and it's only about 5 squids on Steam. The web only one is a bit poo.
  3. OK very creepy, I don't think I have anything rusty in my house. I think I need to check. Again.
  4. Never had any problems with Firefox. Any problems are spotted by the community. Addons are great, and it's never been slow, for me anyway Only once I thought I had a problem, and it turned out to be my fault. Is it possible that the people whose PC you fixed would have had problms/malware whatever browser they had?
  5. Alas not many look at page and image sizes any more When I made websites a while back, I was aiming at 50kb for the home page. Sure there was no video and flashy stuff like now but with fast connections, a lot of designers are lazy. Easier to whack on a nice big image rather than optimise it... and then you have all the new dynamic stuff added to make it interactive, etc. Slow connection means you get your kangaroo!
  6. Not played a flight sim in a looong time. Don't even remember what it was called, just about manged to move about on the ground as instructed, take off and land... with the ermm virtual squares I was supposed to use to make sure I didn't crash I have to admit to trying to get into space re the vid, very nice... I laways wondered what Fitful Head looked like from the other side
  7. All good on Sumburgh exchange http://www.speedtest.net/result/1047984738.png I would have thought the exchange itself would like the cold weather.
  8. Is there anywhere online that tells you whether buses are running? Leasks site doesn't seem to... The roads are icy by me but I don't know how bad the roads have to get before they call off the buses.
  9. I didn't realise there are any ads here! I use a Firefox addon called Adblockerplus, which is awesome. I have 4 blocked items for this page. I have Firefox set to ask me every time regarding cookies. If you shop at the Viking site, try accepting session cookies only. They are the ones that keep track of what is on your shopping basket as you buy stuff. They should go when you have finished. The settings are flexible so places I know are OK I can set them as always accept seesion cookies. Also, you can use Page info in Firefox Tools menu to show you stuff like what cookies are from the site and other security stuff. Shetlink has 7 cookies. If I was you, I would delete all the Viking cookies and have a look at your privacy settings. Disable third party cookies.
  10. I really laughed out loud, this is class. I love that cat!! It seems to wag its tail in the same way as a dog I wonder how far you could take the 'more more small' [sic] boxes?
  11. Sorry to jump in, just been looking at the accessibility guide and have to show you this on Bressay >> click me << Cracked me up
  12. Interesting about the MF stove. One thing about the open fire is the draught it needs... To stop smoke coming back down the chimney we have to leave the door open, which means there is a cold draught whizzing in, which is balanced by the heat from the peat so it doesn't get really hot in the room If a MF stove was put in the fireplace instead, does it need draught like an open fire? Why is it they use less fuel? I'm guessing not as there must be a metal tube to chimney, how do they fit exactly?
  13. Yeah it's news stories like that that prompted me to post
  14. Our lasty quarterly electricity bill was about £100 and we didn't think it was too bad, until a couple of weeks ago we noticed it was estimated and quite a long way out We have a rayburn which we turned off for the summer, and filled the tank up then when we thought it would be cheaper. £560 for 1000l, £60 more than the previous quarter. Only last 3-4 months, It's so expensive, even on the lowest setting. It's great to have it, but we have another cooker so might consider an oil boiler to heat the radiators instead? Don't know a great deal about it so might ask the insulation people when they come round. We also have an open fire which has been useful while the rayburn has been out of action. (I'm quite used to 10 degrees now.) Peat doesn't put out much heat and burns really fast; and the 25kg bags of coal are £6iah. One bag would last a day maybe? We don't have a great deal of insulation, we don't want to fill the cavity walls. The rayburn has made us a bit lazy as it chucks out loads of heat all the time, but if we switch to something else we'll have to think again about it, saving the planet and our money.
  15. Hi can anyone confirm the above please? Having tried and failed to get it fixed for the last fortnight, I need to try someone else... it's freezing!! I can't find a Goudie, N. in Sandwick in my phone book, although it is a bit out of date (08/09). There are lots of other Goudies in Sandwicj though :S. Is that the correct name above? Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the info The video clip doesn't seem to want to load... I will give it a bit longer.
  17. The other topic about cattle got me thinking... In the summer we were walking and the track we wanted to follow was gated and had bulls, cows and calves on the other side. The bulls glared at us and the cows watched us and the calves were just cute. Now I like farm animals, I stop to talk to sheep and the cows and even rub the ears of some friendly pigs we passed. Not having been brought up with animals (except chickens) I don't know the proper terms or manner of them. The field with the cattle in we did not cross. We didn't want to alarm the animals especially when there were calves. You also hear of people being chased and trampled, although we did not have a dog with us. So, is it safe to cross a field with cows/bulls? How would you know if they were getting upset with you? When is the time to run?
  18. Sumburgh exchange http://www.speedtest.net/result/1020130556.png Happy

  20. yes info is main thing. Things that are booked or checked online, like ferry times over Xmas, or when the next skip is due here. Most games now have a required net component... who remembers to go into Steam offline mode in case the power goes off? Not me! The only frustration is when someone online you know is relying on you for something, and you can't get online to sort it!
  21. mine (sumburgh) went off 11.45 so i unplugged router for a couple of hours, worked again by about 2pm. Ping was normal this eve. Anticipated Clear Time: 04/11/2010 00:31 ha! was just disconnected and reconected a few mins ago... 00.46 let's hope it's fixed!
