  1. According to BBC News she was Anchor handling at the time. She had the rigs anchor on her deck and for some unknown reason made a sharp turn which caused the anchor to slip along the deck causing the boat to rock and ended up capsizing. All happened very quick apparently.
  2. And coincidently a photo of her in today's Shetland Times from Lerwick Harbour sometime during the week.

  4. If they had waited till 2014, there will be an eclipse up in Faroe, so I'm sure we will get some of that!
  5. Done a little bit more digging around... Do you have a lead you can connect your computer to your Nokia6310i, or infra-red on your machine? If so... http://europe.nokia.com/A4143074 It might not work, but its worth ago. Not having a Nokia phone myself it's difficult to tell. If that program can back up text messages then it might be possible to somehow but them back on to your new phone using the software supplied with it (again I'm not sure).
  6. Hi. I've never used the phones you mention in your post, but I know when I upgraded from a Samsung D500 to a Sony Ericsson k800i I was wanting to transfer some meaningful text messages over. I sat going through all the options for ages (without blowing my own trumpet, I like to think I'm quite good when it comes to all this technology stuff) and couldn't find anything that would let me do it, so gave up and lost the messages forever. You might be better trying some mobile phone forums (http://www.expansys.com/fo.aspx is something I've used before) as there are people there that are mobile geeks. David
  7. Could have sent the eggs to me, I prefer battery to free range! I hate the supermarket too. And I'm the sort of person that rather than buy a big shop at once, I go on a day by day basis which means I get to experience the delights of it every day.
  8. You gotta love em when it comes to the 1st April. http://www.google.com/tisp

  11. Like the left button on my laptop touch pad, button 3 on the ferry is beginning to wear away due to overuse.
  12. I don't want to drive it Trout 8O I do... how hard can it be
  13. I went round Bressay quite a few times on the Clair, but since Northlink started I haven't been on one. The thing about the Clair was, there was massive amounts of deck space, and even then people were struggling to find somewhere to get a good view. But the Northlink boats seem to have very little space, I never thought it would be as good. My dad was on the Hrossey a week back and said since they've put the new cabins in, the only bit you can stand is behind the cafe, you cant get up above that any more.
  14. i'm sure the server admins everywhere love this tip... I did this on Firefox a few months back now, and I do notice the slowness when I go back to internet explorer.
  15. Surprised no one has mentioned this yet... Tall Ships will visit Shetland for a 2nd time in 2011. From what I can remember of 1999, it was brilliant.
  16. Just back from seeing Idlewild at the Music Hall. It was spot on. I didn't think it would be able to beat seeing Roddy acoustically at the North Star, but it was just as good, if not better! Lots of oldies. Lots of new tracks. And they were filming it for a DVD out later this year, so we got extra tracks. Even my brother who isn't that much of a fan and didn't know many of their tracks was very impressed.
  17. Did anyone else think it was a little bit weird when watching the Borat and Graham Norton bit knowing there was a whole load of little kids in the front row of the audience? I know none of them would have understood what was going on, but still, every time Graham made a rude joke he even mentioned the fact the children were all there.
  18. I think you might be right about trying the crew schedules and if the boat is cancelled one night it is therefore now cancelled for two... although I think as it turns out this time round the weather was pretty rough for two nights. The Streamline ship is smaller and not carrying any passengers which is probably the reason she sailed. The weather has been bad enough in the North sea that the Norrona is stuck in Bergen for the next few days. http://www.irishseashipping.com/photofeatures/shipco/calmac/hrossey180307/mar1807c.jpg Heading out of Liverpool yesterday.. looks a little choppy!
  19. The Father Ted episode did cross my mind.
  20. The UK in the past have had some alright songs, while not usually my cup of tea, I could see why some people might like them... but last years, and particularly this years is just cringe worthy and an embarrassment.
  21. If the boat doesn't sail people aren't happy... If it does sail people aren't happy that it sailed in such terrible conditions... I think it's just unfortunate that the refits are taking place at the moment... and before people moan about the refits, these are the refits that are giving us more cabins remember. I believe the Hrossey was due back today, but was doing circles in the Irish Sea yesterday as it was too rough to go any further north.
  22. I was unfortunate enough to see a bit of this programme last night... oh dear.
  23. I wouldn't get too excited about 3G. They market it to look very good, but I have 3G on my phone, and its a novelty to begin with... but then you realise its actual a waste of time. Mobile TV over 3G has to be one of the biggest wastes of time ever. And Video calls, they are expensive too.
