  1. The 60 million is based on the figures as now, or when the survey was done.

You are then assuming if Shetland were to leave Scotland there would be a the same reduction in taxes, yet, fuel duty is too high, that would then eat into your 60 million. There are other issues, Scotland would have to get a good deal, however, as with Ireland, it would have to retain the monetary system and the national debt would have to be shared out. On top of that, the RBS scandal still needs to be sorted out. Scotland would not gain all the tax revenues from the Oil.

It seems that local fisher folk have somewhat tarnished the reputation of the Isles to boot.

Scotland may not want to give up Shetland. It ain't really in your hands to sort out as such a minority.

As this is just debate and learning from debate, there is no need to try to insult folk Dratsy as you have shown so eloquently in the past as having an aptitude for. And also have failed to apologise for.

On that subject, how much will it cost to protect the shores? There are many other subjects too in the equation. The social care, benefits and it has also been reported on the radio, the amount of folk who have said they will leave Scotland if it does gain independence.

All the figures quoted are a start, but thought must be put into the evolving figures, the cost of the change, firstly the cost to gain Scottish independence and then the cost that Shetland would need to pay for for theirs, the good thing will be the exchange rate, as you will all still be using pounds and the Queen will still be head of State.

for all your waffle pete you still have not grasped the meaning of "net surplus"

as for being insulting pete you think your pretty good at that yourself.

  2. male genitalia = man

    female genitalia= woman

both sets of genitalia = hermaphrodite

it is as simple as that legally

... is the wrong answer. As the law stands (in the UK) a man who undergoes a sex change operation is under no obligation to legally change his sex. He can if he likes, but he doesn't have to.

sorry should of specified born with

but as with your point they are not forced to legally change their sex in Sweden after the op, so nobody is being forced to do anything that they don't want or claim to want.

This is just an excuse for attention seeking half wits to kick up a fuss at the expense of the Swedish people.

  3. No you would not, as the funds to run just a council add up to £90,000,000 or there abouts, that is the figure Shetland gets from Central, as independents, you would not have that income. Except the income from Council Tax. It was mentioned earlier.

dear dear pete i think you should look up the words "surplus" and "net" in a dictionary

then read the quote from the article again,

and if you still don't understand it I will not be much surprised

  4. My wife and I have been in Shetland for almost 4 years now but have missed seeing the Northern Lights each time.

    Damn !

How? A daft question but you do know they don't look like the photos, tonights have been on since about 7pm (that I saw) mainly blue stripes across the sky

We signed up for email alerts with Aurora Watch a good while back and they simply didn't send any out last night. I was looking at my emails at least once an hour last night but no alerting email arrived so we missed out.

On previous occasions, the rain and or clouds precluded us from seeing anything.

    Maybe next time...

try looking at the sky instead of your computer screen
  5. we wid have a bit more money to spend

The council’s development department currently awaits the outcome of a so-called ‘input-output’ study, carried out by Aberdeen University every six years.

In 2006, the study found that the isles had generated a £60 million net surplus for government coffers.

  6. I have insurance for just that reason, it insures me against all drivers even uninsured ones, my no claims bonus is protected.

But what that has to do with my statement about the final appeal court being the european court I have no idea.

are you covered if some foreigner with no insurance crashes into you?

since your scenario would apply as much in that situation as it would if Stuart Hill crashed into you. would you be happy to pay for their legal costs while you and your family lie in hospital or the grave? just wondering

  7. Not preventing anyone from driving when you know they are in any of the descriptions listed above = as guilty.

you insist on claiming I am guilty of some crime peat so once again I will draw your attention to my previous statement

As for my letting any one drive after smoking I would no more let some one drive if I thought they were unfit to do so for any reason be it pot, drink or (what has been proven time and time again to be worse than either) lack of sleep.

I know you would like to blame a "racist nazi" like me for all that is wrong with world peat but I think not.

now get over yourself your constant inability to read what is actually written has left me with the need for a spliff just to blot out your inane drivel.
