  1. Yeppers, see above and thank you. it's the 21 rather than the 23!!! thanks
  2. Ohhhhhh thank you very much, missed that
  3. Imminent thanks for asking Paul. Guess I will have to drive to Voe and park up!
  4. OK, is it just me Looking at the timetables on the Zettrans website, http://www.zettrans.org.uk/bus/BusTimetables.asp I can catch two buses in the morning to Lerwick from Brae (0710/0810) but to return, I have to catch the 1540 from Viking otherwise the next one is 2145!!!! All seems odd to me. Also, the feeder service (21) for Hillswick only runs in the morning too with no returns later in the day (according to the timetables). Can anyone shed more light on this?
  5. Oh thats a given. Lerwick, Brae, Mid Yell and Whalsey But Lerwick mostly Oh and mobile occasionally to remote and outlying places such as Unst, Papa Stour etc.... The car share was for those days at Lerwick; will investigate further once settled. Got car and bike all sorted
  6. Excelent... thanks peeps Sharing is good, half the cost
  7. Just thinking about my future commuting on the Islands and wondering if there are any funtional car sharing schemes in place
  8. Google me Surely not... http://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/2013/03/10/agency-is-on-the-game-in-lerwick Perhaps
  9. Just to inflame passions again, when I left the Army I could have gone anywhere in the UK, been entitled to a council property and been allowed to buy it under "right to buy" immediately. I am not sure whether this is still the case, but when I left the Army in 1999 I was being paid 24k (in the Army that is) a year.. not too shabby a salary... No one had the nuts to take on my earlier post I notice..........
  10. Absolutely. I spent two years in Germany and very few people I met owned their own home. Us and the North Americans (USA and Canada) seem to be the only people obsessed with owning. Large companies own the property and if they let their tenants down then they pay the price as people refuse to go to them. They also are heavily regulated and must provide good customer service
  11. Is there a "LIKE" button? *pressing furiously" I commute 19 miles (each way) to work every day and have no qualms doing similar in Shetland, why would I? I was born and raised in Manchester and do not like city life.. Lerwick may not be as big as even my local town now, but it ain't what I seek.....
  12. Interesting thoughts. I am not coming because of hard times other than I have been offered a job. I was in the job market and is a little irrelevant where it was, just Shetlands appeals. Again, interesting thoughts, but not some I would align myself to. Without migration (from wherever) populations do not improve. Not many in Shetland would want to do my job (if any) hance why I have been recruited. If there were those then I would be in the South. If you care to come here and see that we face the same problems locally, I am particularly well known in my profession yet I am choosing to leave that behind to hopefully make a difference to a community that needs my skillset Sure is, and that is why SIC is being reduced
