  1. There was something on SIBC this morning about speeds being cut today for some sort of maintainance. Didn't hear all of it though.

  3. Problem is you can find yourself in the LETS mess. Which was a great idea, but not known many schemes last long. There's also the "tea voucher" scheme they have on the Archers...
  4. Great idea! No sarcasm, one common complaint is there's so little "Viking" stuff about. A Viking statue overlooking Bressay sound with a little picnic area would be great, especially if it were so positioned to draw attention away from the Shetland Hotel & Judanes when the boat came in...
  5. You'd better inform the Grampian Police then. Trump used them on several occasions, you also it seems can't take a picture of an officer in uniform (unlike in Strathclyde where they're quite happy to pose). Then there's the shopping centres... You also have to be very careful about schools.
  6. I'm impressed, not many know they're in the old MES offices. They've still got my old favourite radio (before I went digital south) It's still the same price 10years later.
  7. really? do tell, where do you find bolts electrical now? (sorry but couldn't resist, hint - it's on the unit opposite the plates)
  8. I'd like to "big up" LBC (soon to be Jewsons) thank you for ignoring the fact I was female, believing I knew what I wanted and actually being some assistance.
  9. Nope. When I was a residential customer with at one stage BT and then Talktalk in London, it is standard practice; I think it is something OFCOM expects ISPs to do. Edit: The same principle applies when your landline is playing up. & Mobile, if your local mast is down for more than a short outage, you should get a discount on your bill, but if you don't ask you don't normally get, and no a web voucher to spend during 1 week in september in a store south doesn't count
  10. so is the scalloway one, there's just less of it.
  11. Just checked and I take it back walls bus should be fine, as long as they're in a carrier. Bixter is less of a hike in wheel chair and I sure one of the lasses would help get you too and from the bus.
  12. http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11894 Since my posts there I have heard of many refused passage with pets. It does depend on which driver you have.
  13. the Walls bus goes past the vets, but no animals allowed sorry hun. Scalloway bus I believe is the same.
  14. We've been using TVCatch up on Android it has all BBC content, and faster than iplayer. unfortunately you still have to decode the bbc site to make sure you're on the right stream. It has been a little sad having 4 phones going with different streams... but if you can, why not...
  15. Really? Things have changed in Heathrow since December? No ID asked for ever, photos taken yes, but nothing to prove who I was. I did try, but no one was interested.
  16. Was under impression that photo ID is only required for the northern isles ferries. It is perfectly possible to travel to Orkney for example with no ID
  17. No according to nice polite lady at Northlink reception desk my out of date passport (over 2years out of date) was not acceptable.
  18. Work & Voluntary Work photo IDs are accepted. If you fly from Heathrow to Sumburgh 1st flight with BA - NO ID IS REQUIRED which I find very galling, in fact BA do not need photo ID for any domestic flights and once your through security that's you checked right through. I have travelled without ID on Boat, not usually a problem though they can be rude in Aberdeen about it This is recognised by most people (but despite what it says not proof of age) http://www.citizencard.com/visa-prepaid-or-classic-.html and really quick turn around
  19. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2099163510.png there's copy for forum button on the results thing it's getting slower but not by much 2miles from exchange, fastest it's been for a while and so far no drop outs today (yes I know broadband doesn't have drop outs, but it does, and often, but not today)
  20. Good luck with that one like, here in shetland you don't get to choose your practice as such, if your having problems in Bixter you can move to Walls and vice-versa, but tbh both lead doctors are very similar. I must admit when feeling very ill I have told both exactly what I felt about their manner but they are very good doctors and it is great to be able to see a doctor that day instead of going through the hassle in Lerwick. If you wish to change to a Lerwick practice I believe you'll have to do it through the health board. I know folk in Weisdale who have been refused the option of moving to the closer practice in Bixter, despite the being public transport making the surgery accessible.
  21. In the absence of an emotion that bounces, I'll be good and just say "we got internet" http://www.speedtest.net/result/2098600622.png
  22. Was quite disappointed by the lack of service in Geordie Robertson's upstairs today. We bought something anyway despite being cheaper (and longer guarantee) in John Lewis, supporting local and all that, but really, it's no wonder folk are put off, I shouldn't have to "woman handle" a product to find out what cables plug in to the back, "none" is not an answer for nearly any entertainment product produced in the last 30years. And strangely enough being a woman does not mean I haven't been using a DAB for the last 10years, having digital terrestrial through a booster does not mean that you can receive DAB through a basic telescopic ariel. Mumble mutter.

  24. At 5am? Things usually get faster when the schools & colleges etc aren't hogging it all. Not everyone has access at home.
  25. In walls it all got back to normal come 7am but between 5 & 6am I managed enough to post my question. I know town's bad, I came in to go to the meeting and had lots of people complaining it's near impossible to get stuff done. Oh the wonders of a 3G phone.
