To reply to Brochbuilder - I think it was probably a 'consultant' who condemned the building. Another waste of our money. The new/old library will be better suited for the needs of all Shetlanders who use it, who also live outside Lerwick. the money to be spent on it should not be confused with monies allocated for education, which is quite another thing.

Does Shetland not have a 3-5-20?mile fishing limit round these shores? We should have.

Some people are not aware that from 1st January BT are now charging their customers £1.75 a month for the 1571 service and another £1.75 for the visual display of phone nos of incoming calls. An extra £3.50 a month on your bill, so I've cancelled them from my account - they won't be missed. Maybe the other phone providers are charging the same, I don't know. To cancel the BT increase in charges, ring 0800 707 6044, this is the number they give to upgrade their services - if you ring the number they give you'll be kept on hold all day.
