  1. have you tried driving from the knab to the edge of town at 9 or 5 its impossible can you imagine the ambulances trying to get out
  2. garriock brothers do some pretty tasty plastic windows more expensive than buildbase or the likes but ten times the window no gaps no leeks and still cheaper than wood
  3. surely access would be a problem with the roads out the knab a new hospital would need to be in a better spot for access not worse
  4. if they put in a tender that didnt meet the spec they shouldnt get the work if a builder puts in a quote for a project and it doesnt meet the speck should the council give them work. just because they work in pr so they are good at making noise doesn't mean they should be given special treatment.
  5. nobody is suggesting moving in lots of alcoholics and drug users but i think its unfair to suggest everybody in ladies drive fits that description i know people that definitely do not also pretty sure slap only do commercial rental
  6. the solution is surely a change in planning policy accept the reality that times are changing deal with the surplus of shops by allowing them to be changed into accomadation
  7. have looked it up every single branch is owned by foodcorp ltd which is owned by gary marshall not sure were you looked it up My appologies, all Scottish branches appear to be owned by Foodcorp ltd which is owned by Gary Marshall. He is opening another in Glasgow shortly, which will possibly add to his Lerwick, Perth, Stirling and Dunblane restaurants. However, Monterey Jack restaurants still appear to be franchised. franchised from who he owns all of them? Jack In The Box Inc. probably. the website states it as copyright Monterey jacks uk not jack in the box and all uk companys with the name Monterey jacks are owned by gary marshall Do Foodcorp ltd now own Monterey Jack's and have franchised it to Richard Fergie? http://www.shetnews.co.uk/news/14152-monterey-jack-s-franchise-to-open-on-da-street surely if that was the case gary marshall would not own 80%of Monterey jacks lerwick

    Toft Pier

yes but surely with the councils funding being cut so much no businesses can expect the council to subsidise them if its not viable to keep schools open and hospital wards surely businesses should pay for the assets they require to trade. Surely every pier has to be considered on its merits to suggest its a all or nothing situation is unrealistic and no normal business would do this toft pier is used by a couple of shellfish boats and some choose to land at the slip instead of the pier.

    Toft Pier

my comment is exclusively about piers used for shellfish and yes i believe that nobody can expect to get facilities for nothing think what would happen if all the businesses in lerwick stopped paying there rates bills do you think the council would take as little action as they are about this

    Toft Pier

while it is true that shellfish generate prosperity for some looking at the fugures quoted for dues currently being paid at piers in shetland it look like it would take about 200 years to bring in enough from them to cover replacing the toft pier never mind all the other piers used just for shellfish that will require work in that time.
  15. challenge 25 is definitely law as far as alcohol goes http://www.challenge25.org/

    EU

give them £100 so they can give back £10 in grants why not keep the money in the uk and just build tunnels and lots more with it
  22. is there any truth in the rumours that the noost is under or almost under new ownership or is it just the rumour mill working overtime
  23. cant think it would be bad to see more workers and population here
  24. surely if shops gain no trade by cars being able to park outside for free supermarkets and shopping centres all over the country would cashing in selling there land local examples exist of the benefits to trade seen by more parking look at bolts after they got rid of there pumps yet it was only 30 metres to walk from there car park at the toll clock but people still wanted to be able to stop outside the door
