  1. i can confirm this as the sandwick fire crew was on location to put it out afterwards .
  2. driving along lochside today , i thought about when the cars for sale were there and thought , shame was good to see what was on offer . then realised i was looking at a long row of empty spaces !!! , then i thought yeah but the residents need there parking spaces , then suddenly i looked right and noticed nearly every house has a car port beside it with room for 2 vehicles and most had used the kerb outside the house ! . any chance the council could wander down there and tow all cars parked on the kerb and not in there car ports or provided parking space across the road ? no ? did not think so another waste of effort and funding on something unimportant
  3. cutting the fire service is not a well thought out plan , but why close stations ? would it not be more practical to spread the units .why have 2 engines at brae and lerwick ? 1 would be enough and then the other 2 could be used central such as the sandwick station and on the west side . if a station can not man its engine then it is fair enough to close it down as it is none effective ,but to close stations that are manned and effective is not a good idea . brae is probably now smaller than sandwick so where is the logic in 2 pumps at brae and none in sandwick ? this is not the mainland where stations are manned 24/7 and have 3/4 engines,we will wait on an engine turning up to sandwick from lerwick about 20/25mins and possible another 10/15 on the second appliance . at present we would be about 5/10 mins for the sandwick unit and the second engine would turn up 10/15 minutes later. as for the sumburgh unit to turn out , they have had manning issues so that is a non starter. that 10/15 minutes in a fire or car accident is very much a CASE OF LIFE OR DEATH.
