  1. how do you add a new event in this format

  2. The problem has been sorted thanks to a kind forum user.
  3. Has anyone got any ideas from where I could obtain some old salmon cage or similar flexible tubing ? I wish to cover my vegetables with netting and to construct tunnels would seem the best idea. I only have a small garden so I am not requiring a great amount.
  4. Would you like to learn how to paint and draw without the cost and commitment of a College course, and in a more relaxed environment? Then come along to any of the Art Club Meetings held in Burra (usually at the East House Croft or at my home if we are only a few). We meet once a month, usually on a Sunday afternoon, and I usually give a short demonstration on a particular subject or medium that we are looking at on that occasion, and then we all paint, chat and learn together. I'm a self-taught artist but am happy to show you my work or you can look at my website to get an idea of what I do, and I've got 10 years' experience of teaching art to all ages and also of giving demonstrations to art clubs all over the UK. My name is Anne Barron and I specialise in drawing and painting realistic and lifelike portraits of animals and people, but I also like to dabble in a wide variety of other mediums and styles, so can help a beginner to get their confidence and start to draw or paint in most mediums. The Art Club is open to all ages and abilities, including teenagers although children who are too young to sit and paint for 2 hours without getting restless would not be suited to this club. I provide the materials and you pay £5 to cover materials and refreshments. To find out more, telephone 01595 859060 or email me at wildaboutart@yahoo.co.uk
  5. If your wife can get along to the Shetland Art Co / Shetland Fudge Co on Commercial Street (used to be Loose Ends) next to the Scottish Hydro shop, she will find patterns, yarns, etc, but best of all on a Wednesday afternoon there are "Purls Of Wisdom" sessions where Maggie Ann sits and knits and helps anyone with any knitting problems or questions. She's a brilliant knitter and can do just about anything, including superb Fair Isle work, and you'll maybe even get a cuppa and a biscuit thrown in ...! Ring Gill on 01595 694004 just to check that Maggie Ann is going to be there that week before you go. Other members of staff are fairly knowledgeable but all have different specialities including, felting, painting, ceramic painting, fudge-making but Maggie Ann or Mary are your best bet for knitting advice.
