  1. Believe it or not, Billy Dodds is one of the better summarisers on the Beeb...thats a sad state of affairs right there. The beeb aren't my favourite people at the moment. They follow Aberdeen all the way and ditch us the moment Rangers come into the competition. As far as I know, the BBC have the rights to our game in the UK and are choosing not to show it, thus causing a blackout for anyone wanting to watch this game on tv. Shower of boobalubes. 1-0 the Dons next week. Easy.
  2. The Friday and Saturday headliners are a disgrace. Rage Against the Machine get away with it just for past glories, but I would be sceptical if they are as good as they once were. Feeder and the Stereophonics? Have I stepped into a timewarp. Sunday night rescues it, but it would mean Primal Scream, REM and the Kings of Leon would likely be on different stages at the same time.

  4. How can you be lonely when all the morons you didn't like in School try to start a conversation anytime they meet you?
  5. There is already a precedent for clubs playing in another country...namely Cardiff and Swansea playing in the English tiers. I don't know the history behind this. However, the arguement is always that the Old Firm should join the Premiership, and I have yet to hear a reason why they should be allowed to do this? The teams in the Championship battle their arses off every year to grab one of those 3 spots in the Premiership, can anyone honestly give me a reason why the Old Firm deserve to waltz in ahead of all of them? If Rangers and Celtic want to do this, they should start off in the Conference...even then they would be taking places from teams who deserve it more.
  6. If you were a true Neighbours fan, you would have known about this months ago. Basically, the rights were up for renewing the show and the Beeb refused to pay what the Producers were asking - around £100k an episode. Channel 5 won the bid. The break was annoying, but I can live with it. Plus we get a weekend omnibus.
  7. Absolute horseturd. And I'll be very surprised if it actually happens. By all means hold a friendly tournament in the summer or something, but making teams play a league game abroad is gonna cause problems.
  8. As much as I'd love to see both sides of the Old Farm disappear up their own arses...they will NEVER join the Premiership. FIFA/UEFA will never allow it, and why should they get entry over a team from the Championship?
  9. Some of our fans were a disgrace last night. I'm not going back to another Dons game for a long time.
  10. Surely this is the end of her short tenure as Scottish Labour leader?
  11. If that was remotely true, Ibrahim Bakayoko would be the greatest player in the world.
  12. McFadden can "hit and hope" as much as he likes as far as I'm concerned...
  13. Twas mentioned on the radio the other day that Robert Plant's album with Alison Krauss is jepordising the alleged upcoming Led Zepp world tour.
  14. I really really wanna post Matt Damon's speech from Dogma about "Through the Looking Glass" after reading that... "No, "Through the Looking Glass". That poem, "The Walrus and the Carpenter" that's an indictment of organized religion. The walrus, with his girth and his good nature, he obviously represents either Buddha, or... or with his tusk, the Hindu elephant god, Lord Ganesha. That takes care of your Eastern religions. Now the carpenter, which is an obvious reference to Jesus Christ, who was raised a carpenter's son, he represents the Western religions. Now in the poem, what do they do... what do they do? They... They dupe all these oysters into following them and then proceed to shuck and devour the helpless creatures en masse. I don't know what that says to you, but to me it says that following these faiths based on mythological figures ensure the destruction of one's inner-being. Organized religion destroys who we are by inhibiting our actions... by inhibiting our decisions, out of... out of fear of some... some intangible parent figure who... who shakes a finger at us from thousands of years ago and says... and says, "Do it - Do it and I'll darlingin' spank you. " "
  15. Oh my days. In amongst alot of this petty namecalling and conclusion jumping, there is actually a bloody interesting topic at hand here. I'm going to outline where I stand. As far as I'm concerned, there is a certain time and place for dialect in the written form. I'm going to use the Sakchai thread that existed on here as an example...now I, as I'm sure many others did, followed this thread almost hourly. Whether it was the messages of support, the updates or even the odd few who dared to say something different. And do you want to know why I read them all? Because they were very easy to read. 90% of those messages were posted in bog standard English. Now, there were the odd few posters who would post long diatribes in dialect. I didn't even give those a second look, why? Because they are so difficult to read. It was almost as if I had to retune my brain to actually read what the hell was going on in some of these posts, so it got to the point that I didn't bother my ass to do it. I did make the point at the time that maybe, whilst posting in some of the more serious topics, it might be better to use that normal english stuff if you want your point to be taken seriously. Maybe I'm just a lazy clownshoe, but if you can't find it within yourself to put across a point in a sensible language I'll be damned if I'm about to waste time trying to figure out what the hell you are trying to say. As for the spoken form, I'm not going to say a word about that because it's a perfectly natural thing to do. If I happen to find myself in any other area of the UK, I don't expect Weegies, Geordies, Scousers, Mancs or Teuchters to speak in any other dialect. I don't see why Shetland should be any different. Although I don't think Mr Juan here has actually said anything about the spoken form of Shetland dialect in a defamatory manner, but I thought I would make it clear where I stand.

I was asked for Photo ID at Sumburgh when I flew back down at Christmas, thats the first time I've ever been asked for it.
  17. As in ALL SIC workers? Or the manual workers?
  18. Ok, I just got my Shetland Times. The final American Notebook column... The first half was quite interesting, basically because I knew nothing about the American school system. The second half was some of the most patronising crap I have EVER read. And believe me, I read the Record PM once.

  21. I have never...NEVER...been so proud to be a Don. 4 points. Served! Any chance we'll still be in Europe when the schools break for Christmas? OH HELLO!
  22. Kris Boyd's problem is that he has shown, repeatedly I may add, that he CANNOT play as the lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation. He can't hold the ball up long enough to allow the support to get up to him which is why he regularly gets ditched in the European games.
