    The Real Wastside!
  1. I'm sure visitors to Lerwick will really appreciate being called morons. I still don't know where some places are in Lerwick and yep, I use either my Sat Nav or maps on my mobile phone which I suspect some visitors do also. So Nederlander, do you know your way to every single street address in Shetland and all the other isles here? I'm sure they don't come on here to look all the pish posted by the regulars. I only happened to stumble upon this most ludicrous of complaints (although no complaint seems to ludicrous for the folk on this forum) by an unfortunate accident. I stand by my or
  2. Anyone who can't find it is a moron.
  3. Put it this way, us yokels are expected to support Mareel but yet to attend in an evening, we would have to use either taxis (at over £35 a time from the South End) or drive as there won't be public transport available. Using comparable venues within city locations won't work as in those cities, public transport is available. Is it not the case that Shetland has a higher number of cars per household than elsewhere in the UK for the size of the population? So your real gripe is with the lack of public transport then? How do you know that this wasn't discussed? As far as I can see, as
  4. How predictable, have a dig at someone's disability. Mind you, you forgot to mention that many people have a job finding their (correct) seat number in a cinema, be it through drink, small numbering or even the fact the lights are out! ...aaaaaand here's the other one, with a typically ridiculous post.
  5. I suppose not if your definition of "criticise" and "slag off" is anything and everything that doesn't conform to your own exact POV. Mareel has become a holier than holy in some people's minds, and anything other than toeing the line and praising it to high heaven is met with an unbelievable sensitivity, and decried as an attack criticising and slagging it off. Methinks the lady/gentleman protesteth too much..... I suppose I'm someone from Shetland Arts am I? Nothing to do with my point of view actually, merely an observation of what Shetlink has turned into in the past year or so. It
  6.  Yes, but you discounted the many parking spaces within spitting distance of Mareel. The only reason I can think that you did this was to suit your own POV.  All the car parks in town are more or less empty past five o'clock, which is when I would think Mareel will be at it's busiest. It seems to be a Shetland thing that walking any distance from a car park to an event, or anything even, is a major problem.

  8. There are also all the spaces at the new council offices and the other North Ness areas, which will more than likley be empty from 5pm onwards. pootle me, is there nothing that some of you won't criticise? Shetlink is just one big slag fest now, dominated by 3 or 4 doom merchants and naysayers. A damn shame.
  9. Looks like Shetland Arts could have had another showing of films at the Garrison. A little disappointed with the lack of information we're getting at the moment, I understand that they are perhaps scared of committing to a date that they can't keep, but any information on plans they have would raise the anticipation levels that little bit more.
  10. If I catch anyone putting this crap through my letter box then they will be told exactly where they can stick it.
  11. Speak for yourself. Surprise surprise.
  12. ^ I hope you're amusing yourself, because you're boring the tits off everyone else.
  13. Who gives a sharn about your constant negative trolling? Not me, and I highly doubt anyone else does either, so why don't you give it a rest and put your energy into something more worthwhile? Mareel is here, and it's here to stay, like it or lump it. I am really looking forward to it. Hope they show films that will be released before they open e.g. THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN and possibly THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Seeing an advert for films due to be released has become so much more exciting as I'm sitting there hoping to be able to see them in Mareel! Roll on opening day!
  14. How about an opening night on the 20th of July for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES?
  15. I note today that their is a Fiddle Frenzy gig booked to play in Mareel on the 7th of August. Does this mean that we are getting close to an official opening date? Surely they must know when they are going to be open now? Not being negative, I'm genuinely excited for the opening of Mareel and can't wait to use it!
