I don’t think dirs many folk dat believe dey ir going to live forever! Particularly da folk dat ir most at risk fae Coronavirus and idder ailments. I’m had my ain health challenges and towt I might be a goner at ee point, but dat doesna mak my opinion more valid or feel I need to patronise folk online.

I’ve had many an interesting (and sometimes heartbrakin) yarn we folk who have been staring dir own demise in da face and I prefer to take a position o empathy and compassion and do what little I can to comfort dem. I certainly dunna feel da need to tell dem to toughen up because dey’re obviously going to die at some point onywye so it might as well be noo, and I see nae difference between haein a conversation we dem or dem readin whit I thought on da internet.

In an ideal world we wouldn't need authorities stating the bleeding obvious and enforcing the very simple rules put in place to prevent a lot of people needlessly dying.
Unfortunately, as has been proven with the softly softly approach, a very large number of our fellow citizens are just downright stupid.

And what about completely skipping over the effects of the NHS being flooded with cases? It's a pretty sizeable gaping hole in the take it on the chin approach. It was enough to get the government to change their plans - which should be telling you something (and it's not just about their reelection chances before anyone makes that cheap shot). Also the fact that it was near universally slated as a terrible idea across the globe by the majority *gasp* actual experts.

We already know how deathly this pandemic is. We just need to look at other countries, such as Italy, or are their figures all made up as well.

Whilst I accept older people’s immune systems deteriorate with age, can I remind you this is affecting people if all ages. We all know and accept that death us part of life, but try telling that to the parents of the healthy 14 year old who has just died with Coronavirus.

As the owner of a business that’s had to shut it doors, I for one would rather be bankrupted than dead. At least I can do my best to rebuild my business. These conspiracy theories does nothing to help the situation and at worst invite sceptics to ignore the advice and put more strain on our vital services

I don’t think many are panicking, but I’d like to think they are taking on board the advise and lowering the risk to themselves and others.

The idea that this is some world wide conspiracy is just daft, the large numbers of people dying around the world is worrying and where this differs from flu is younger, fitter folk are also being killed by it.

One of my close friends can confirm that they are related to one of the latest people from a care home, who has been tested and confirmed to be positive for Coronavirus. Despite being very healthy for their age, they have been hit hard and whilst your own views may be “If it’s gonna get me, it’s gonna get me and if it’s gonna kill me I’ll be dead” is all very well, but for my friend this is a very worrying time of concern for her much loved relative.

To suggest that, as we don’t know who the 27 locals are, therefore is someone feeding us a pile of bull, is not only ridiculously but unfair to our medical services. I agree it’s unlikely to be 27, because due to the lack of testing it will be 100s more. So I , like many others who care about catching this vile virus and want to continue living, are hoping that if I take all the precautions and advice, that it’s not gonna get me, it’s not gonna kill me and I’ll remain alive.

Flawed logic. A "balanced view" would involve discounting "viewpoints" for which there is no evidence, and adjusting your position as more evidence becomes available.

Also, for your conspiracy theory to hold water, it would require many thousands of healthcare workers, including locals who have already been willing to stand up against central NHS advice, to en masse be willing to mislead the public. I consider that to be very unlikely indeed.

Could the amateur Epidemiologists and Virologists on here please answer me this?
If this is no worse than the run of the mill illnesses and deaths that occur annually, why is the whole planet in various stages of lockdown?
Could it be this is a tad more serious?

George, as usual you seem to think that every issue is the blame of Westminster. This was a Scottish man tried in a Scottish court in Edinburgh. What does Westminster have to do with it?

Not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion George. Alex Salmond was taken to court, a Scottish court, due to complaints made to the police by a number of women. The court rightly or wrongly found him not guilty. Your conspiracy theory that it was an attempt by Westminster to destroy the SNP Just doesn’t make sense. Being a royalist has nothing to do with it either.

Poor George! He would actually believe that the fact that Sturgeon and Salmond are somewhat less than friendly nowadays is also the fault of Westminster.
Perhaps he believes the Coronavirus epidemic is also the fault of Westminster.

This move by the post office has been a shambles from the start, it seems that this was all decided before they had their so called consultation with the public. It is obviously purely led by savings, rather then service, so it comes as no surprise that staff pay and conditions will not be retained.

some of the staff have served us well for many years and their knowledge and experience will be a great loss. This is how people are now rewarded for long service and commitment. The bosses who have made this decision should be ashamed of themselves, but of course they will continue to collect their overpaid salaries.

So Lerwick town centre will now have a small overcrowded post office, with inexperienced staff,  poor disabled parking on a busy pedestrian part of the street.  But hey, that’s progress.

I for one will just use Bolts, good service, queuing inside and free parking.

Whilst some of the decisions in votes recently has not gone the way I personally voted, I really think it’s time some people got over themselves and start accepting democracy. Christ, they never stop greetin. We’ve had elections and votes and we should, regardless of the outcome, be gracious enough to accept it. This idea that you just keep on arguing is what no doubt lost you the vote, but for some reason you can’t see it.

theres nothing worse than keyboard warriors who can’t accept the decision reached through democratic purposes. Get over yourselves.

The Labour Party no longer seem to speak for the common man. It seems to be a middle class socially orientated self- thought “intelligentsia” party now. I voted remain and against Boris Johnson, but have to accept that the majority don’t agree! Maybe I have been wrong? I don’t think there will be an unmitigated disaster under a Tory Government. It’s as if the losers this time are saying that “people don’t know what they are voting for!” Does this mean they want them dis-franchised! Given time balance will be reset. Extremely dangerous ground, to try and undermine the people’s decision. Better to work together for the good of society. For the many, as someone kept saying.

Capeesh,  This is just "waffle" as we all KNOW that Scotland could join the EU.  What Scotland CANNOT do at the moment (as others have pointed out repeatedly) is QUALIFY for membership as our economy just doesn't match the standards required.

IMHO, it would take many years of really painful "austerity" just to get Scotland close to qualifying.  The SNP might be wanting to have their cake and eat it but, I think that they would choke on the first mouthful.

The more I listen to any of these politicians, the more fed up I feel. None of them can be trusted and they will twist the truth, promise the world, then go back on their promises. We’ve seen it all before.

As I’ve said before this current uk parliament and the Scottish parliament have decided to ignore the people’s democratic votes, so let’s hope they all lose their seats and some fresh blood gets voted in.
