We are thinking to swap our mortgage over now that our fixed term has ended. I remember having a problem 6 years ago when we first got our morgage that a lot of companies/banks won't give a mortgage on a timber house. Does anyone know of any that do?? We are currently with the Halifax/BOS so they obviously do - any others? Hope some of you can help so I am not wasting my time phoning lots of banks to be told no! Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know it there is anywhere up here in Shetland that makes made-to-measure foam blocks? The type you would replace sofa seats with? Any info appreciated. Cheers.

The roads are hellish - even in Lerwick. Narrowly avoided a bus which had the tail end skidding round into oncoming traffic (me)! And my car just wasn't stopping at junctions. Hardly any vehicles on the road - think most folk are being sensible and staying at home if they can. I can't believe they opened the Lerwick schools this morning!

Jeez - it is fairly coming down out there now - and massive flakes. The wind will cause drifting this afternoon so I'd say if you don't need to go out in it, then don't.

It is just a complete blizzard in Lerwick and the roads are really bad - has anyone heard of early closures of any of the town schools? This is just crazy - the kids need to get home safely.

Dunrossness Primary is closed - and a bus is off the road in the south mainland - it really is crazy out there!

Watch yourselves on the Black Gaet - terrible road conditions. Cars off the road - be very careful.

It's blizzard conditions out there and it's drifting - I can't believe they are opening the schools. My husband has just phoned from his work to say there were cars off the road all over the place. It's crazy out there - don't go out unless you have to!
