  7. My hand Singer is a good bit aalder dan yours but is very touchy aboot da quality o treed I use and winna wirk we thin or poor quality stuff at all. Lik you say it winna pick up da treed fae da shuttle, and if it does, winna shew onny sense. Occasionally, if I canna get da right colour o treed I'll use something thinner fur da tap stitch but always good thick stuff ida bobbin. Dir really isna dat much ta geng wrang we yon aald machines I wid nearly bet on it bein da treed.

  9. The Walls service bus goes back past Bixter en route to Lerwick at around 6.15 every night. If you can make it to Skeld I will run you back to Bixter in time to catch it......depending on which night it is. Re the journey here - Peter Sinclair is certainly the best one to ask, he runs a shoppers bus which arrives back in Skeld from Lerwick at 2.15 on a Tuesday and I know they also operate the feeder service from Bixter to Skeld which meets the lunchtime service bus some days. Feel free to PM me.
  10. It's no lang ago fae aabody wis up in arms aboot changing da use o a fish factory in Scallawa tae an abattoir, noo dir ower happy ta locate 76 new hooses at Hoofields next tae da Shetland Marts & new abattoir. I suppose it's "affordable accommodation" so dats acceptable!!
  11. Bolts is joost typical o da rest a Lerwick...........tak da most oot and pit da least in! God knows whit visitors tink when day wandir aboot da shabby streets, poorly maintained shops and pee smelling lanes, it's hardly an advert fur wir lovely islands!
  12. There's been a few dead eens in the area this last week or so, one in Sand and another in Bixter Voe that I know about. No telling where they've come from with all the different wind directions that have been lately. The Skeld wan has been around for a while and was seen floating in the voe for a few days before reaching it's final resting place.
  13. Ghostrider's second post is spot on! Remind me ta invite Number7 alang next time I fin a half born lamb being torn oot o it's midder by a couple o Black Backs, or da peerie lamb wandering aboot in ever decreasing circles because the Bonxie sitting watching has already had his tongue & eyes!!
