Get some old keys on a key ring. Next time he kicks off, after some small response form yourself pick a suitable place: Jam on the brakes, pull the keys out, swap them for the fake ones (carefully) and in a faux-tantrum sling the fakes far into a field/over a pier/off a bridge/down a drain and hit him with a "had enough" tirade . "If you won't let me drive without interfering then neither of us will". Let us know how you get on. Take photos or video of his response if possible.

Annoying but trivial things - Room 101 stuff

Internet radio stations that follow Deadmau5 with Don Henley, Don fecking Hanley???!!! WTF? Oh, I see it was some sort of poetic irony - the Henley was followed by a track by "Yerzmyey" called "F*** Off". Yanks and poetic irony, who knew? Hmm, now I feel challenged, it was followed by Van Halen...... But here's a real one, and one that has bothered me for a loooong time: Computers in movies that beep, click and whirr with everything they do. Has there ever, EVER been a computer that makes noises like that?!!! Yeah yeah, I know you can set your user preferences to make noises when folders open etc, but nothing at all like a movie computer. Nothing! -
Nope, I could not, because I can't see what you want changed to "post" in either of the past two posts. Any clues?

Speaking as a moderator - Gorgo is entitled to his opinion too,AT, the word "garbage" is hardly conducive to a polite exchange of information.

Totally agree^ Given that this is a CT project, I'd also love to hear the breakdown of the massive profits touted, if the net return to a half shareholder is £25 million.

I don't think that's fair. It's diverging a bit from the subject, but "we" have long been paying premium prices and surcharges for our fuel, hugely subsidising the country while also providing massive profits, year after year to the oil companies. At any point n the past 30 years the government or the oil companies could have initiated changed to this culture. I haven't ever accepted this other than by living in this country and paying my dues. This is no other than claiming that I have to suffer a reduction in health care, education and other public services because we conveniently missed off/ignored the fact that the bankers were gambling on ghost horses.

Very Cool! Just include monitor physical invert in the walkthrough and it'll be fine.

So their gross profit annually must be huge, to allow that size of dividend to the CT after servicing loans of such proportions, costs and wages and yielding a return to SSE. Incidentally, community benefits, if appropriately negotiated, would be paid from the initial revenue, regardless of profitability, following the model used elsewhere in the country.

Can anybody answer me this, please: If the VE scheme creates between £12 and £25 million a year, as projected, for the Charitable Trust, is that a gross figure, or net? That is, will the bank loans that are funding the other £300 million (or whatever it is now) of the total cost come out of that figure, or is that after loan deductions?

spiders ballooning
Njugle replied to khitajrah's topic in Agriculture / Self Sufficiency / Gardening / Pets
One of natures wonders it is. I recall some years ago coming across spiders ballooning from a cairn on top of a hill. It is so easy to anthropomorphise animal behaviour, but I couldn't help but get a feeling of pre-meditated wit in their behaviour and think "Spider dudes - you are going far! Quite literally!" Some very cool spiders, if such a thing is possible. Whenever I see this I also have a slight pang of sympathy for arachnophobes, it must be a living nightmare - the combination of thousands of "flying spiders" and the revelation that there are something like 50 spiders per square metre in moorland. -
Feel free to start some discussion anytime Far Haaf.

Fine here too. Odd comment. I reckon it should be Hamar.

So, you are calling all truck drivers a nuisance, despite all the extra gear changes, work and wear and tear they go through, all day, everyday? -
Total success! I actually like those LED signs that give you a smiley face or "thank you" after telling you your speed, or alternatively a the flashing "slow down" message, apparently, though I've never seen that one. The do the job in a highly effective, rewarding, non-obtrusive way. Aberdeenshire Council seems to favour them, and elsewhere on the mainland.

I think Mrs Doyle was looking for suggestions other than going to the docs SP, from what her post says. E45 certainly helps itching, but apparently oatmeal baths, cider vinegar and even hungry fish seem to offer better results http://www.myhomeremedies.com/topic.cgi?topicid=75

If you could identify the ad specifically, ie not just a name but the code for the ad itself or the click through address then we may be able to block it. Not promising mind, but there is a chance.

Interestingly, there was a prototype fabricated by a local engineering firm here in Shetland that was topside maintained, for another example, and I don't see why you have a problem with conceptual drawings. And then more speculation! Can you think of any way that offshore wind and wave power maintenance could be less labour intensive than two guys in a van? At the very least you will need a boat and crew to get your two men to the machine to work on it. A boat and a crew? - Well that's two men in a boat then, as is the accepted norm around here. There are maintenance engineers who can drive workboats you know. Hence, no additional cost. In fact it may work out cheaper. Sorry, no , I didn't want references for the AGW stuff, I wanted references for all the supposition you were making in the texts above that line, about jobs created and things you "imagined".

AT, is this compilation of speculation and conjecture not exactly the type of thing you lambast when it comes from other posters. No references for any of this? And then followed by this^? Many of the offshore installations being experimented with deliberately don't require divers, they are accessible from topside to reduce maintenance costs. And then more speculation!

To be fair, in addressing this relatively defamatory allegation Stirrer, are you asserting that you heard the actual words "Vote again now, as you have done before" or similar, unambiguously identifying a conspiracy to slew the vote tally? The "winks across the room....for others to do the same" statement can surely only be considered as supposition. If you weren't at another meeting, how can you claim to know that these individuals voted, and then voted again?

Depression; Does anyone suffer from it or has?
Njugle replied to Aims's topic in Anything & Everything Else
It could be that more people are seeking help from medical practitioners, which would be a positive reflection on the statistic and , though counselling and other non-drug therapies would of course be preferable, it would be nice to think that this was the case, rather than decline or self-medication. If the above hypothesis has any truth in it, I don't think anyone would want to change it. -
Stena Carron protest in Shetland - Greenpeace Esperanza
Njugle replied to jetsam's topic in Shetland News
Well, I think you are placing far more significance on their location that the media are. Heck, some of the stories have just referred to "Scottish coast". I don't think anyone will either think good or ill about Shetland in all this..... ..until they Google the news story, find number 6 in the results and discover an internationally obscure web forum thread full of venomous comments about protesters. Publicity? Don't forget the ponies though.- 342 replies
