Thread cross alert! What is goofy? McFly's dinner, that's what. We broon sauce and mushy peas What's that? Shut up Daffy and get in the oven, get back here Bugs, you're only half cooked, and stop eating the veg!

Muchas gracias Senor McFly. Just one thing What does YC mean? And out of interest, this may well be a worthy basic audio input? You maybe meant that too.

It's a classic "Is it me?" scenario, but i can't bring myself to even call them(Elephant & Admiral) for a quote because their adverts are so annoying. They would need to valet my car weekly or something before i could bring myself to even talk to them! I used to use Norwich union, but even "Quote me happy" has got my hackles up sufficiently to wipe them off the christmas card list. (got a good deal fae the post office though, beat direct line!)

I was speaking to a "shetlander abroad' last week who has been doing amazing things in antartica involving whales and icebergs etc., who would have been delighted to get the chance to 'publish home', but his emails were never replied. I don't think there is anything wrong with KK's writing, but i seem to have had it confirmed that there is a wealth of interesting shetlanders abroad to draw from.

I requested (in an empty restaurant) chicken fried rice in Thailand and i don't know what they brought me, but it wasn't chicken. I've always harboured the hope that it was 'long pig' and not puppy dog. 30 minutes picking out individual grains of rice followed, with much shoving food around plate, before leaving disgusted and hungry. A banana and onion sandwich would have been delicious in comparison! Never dine in an empty restaurant!!

Damn Straight! I did a little sniffing around and it turns out he's running a front for the wooly slave trade. Your two friends will wake up in a park in New Zealand at best, Wales at worst and by that time they'll be so mineralled up they'll have no escape! Not every stock boat goes to Aberdeen, not a lot of people know that. Beware the purple meeter/ greeter!

No way! Scooby doo is a great dane, and if anything he looks more like Pluto than Goofy. Unless Goofy is a GM great dane

Not to get side-tracked, but without any sinister element to it, Google and probably all the other search providers can track every enquiry you ever make. The current Urban myth is that they know more about you than the government. Maybe not a camera in your home (unless you have a webcam), but a log of your "thoughts"

So, you're saying he's a dog then?

Case in point, we would then need both our passports and ID cards to travel anywhere. Then comes the sinister americanised bit, do they then legislate that we carry them at all times? Or hit us from behind and legilate that businesses or services require ID on demand? And all the while the ingenious forgers- particularly in the far east- will be turning out fakes, unless the cards are so technical that they would cost a fortune? Then where do you draw the line? Psychometrics? Biometrics have already been proven unreliable. The only definitive ID is DNA and that's an infringement on human rights and basic freedoms in the extreme, Big Brother, Orwellian style. Get born, get DNA swabbed, get tracked for life, commit no offence, however trivial. Yes a wee card could be handy at times, but what your looking at is the biggest customer loyalty scheme in the world. Who makes the gain?

If you are not a rebellious chancer like ^, check out; 2nd Chance PC who have sold me upgrade CPU, which seems ok, and also do refurbs. or Cancom who sold me my"refurb", many trouble free years ago. It was boxed 'as new' at the time. They sometimes sell on job-lots of surplus industrial orders. It saved me 2-300 hundred anyway, and still had the transport protective film on it.

Religion & Theology (& should we respect beliefs)
Njugle replied to JAStewart's topic in Anything & Everything Else
This is a huge subject Jimmy. But as they say the greatest of journeys begins with one small step. I think Gautama Buddha said that, appropriately enough. Any way to answer the above question, it is, of course, possible and increasingly common to have a system of beliefs in a 'bigger picture' that do not follow any particular formalized religion. The whole issue has become so relevant that even top line physicists are venturing out of their chosen fields to investigate the "paranormal" because there are so many 'unlikely' things in the world and the universe that attempting to explain them defies logic as currently understood in the general laws of physics. The 'god' aspect of this may be called gnosticism in a sense. ie. Many people like yourself, me included, have an intuitive 'belief' or experience that there's more going on than flesh bone, plants and rocks, but attempts to quantify it are no more successful than the latest metaphysical attempts to prove the existence of 'dark energy', to acccompany dark matter, in the universe. Bet you're sorry you asked now.... -
Very,very,very,very,very....... You've obviously never found your Auto-soul mate Anyway, talking of cars......"I see you baby, shaking that ass!" AAArrgghh Just when i thought it was mercifully gone forever, they've resurrected it! Nooooo! And they are humourlessly mocking themselves take it away please Or revamp it..."I see you baby, shaking those headlamps....."

Wow, that's uncanny. I was eyeing up that audio interface too,and for the self-same reason! Analogue, 8mm or "Hi8" as they call it. I have iMovie and Final Cut Pro I have both USB and Firewire.
-
I've also got a bass 'Amp Simulator' effects processor that may remove the 'duff sound' though it may also introduce hiss. What does Hi Z mean anyway? Is that 'gain'?

And thanks so far peeriebryan, as soon as i figure out exactly what you just said i'll tell you if it helped!

I would choose the roof hatch personally, particularly since beadle couldn't follow due to being 'arm challenged' in PC terms and Oliver would neither fit his head or his gob through the exit. I did consider hanging about for some pukka recipes, but let's face it, he makes poncy London grub, not worth recalling. 'Hit widna stick tae your ribs we superglue!' Hey, wait a minute, if you were stuck in a lift with either of them, isn't there a fairly good chance there's a hidden camera involved?

I've been procrastinating for a long while about buying a fairly simple and economical audio interface for my old Mac(G4 AGP), this issue is further confusing me due to the possibility of buying an AV interface. The roots behind this are; to enable me to record live audio in, (non-mic primarily) and to copy stuff over from my old synth keyboard which has simple stereo outputs. To complicate this further i could implement my Quadreverb II Effects processor 'in-line' and it has a digital optical out, though this is not essential. Mind you for recording instruments in it may be useful... The other point is that a multi-purpose AV interface would allow me to copy in some old camcorder tapes, but this may well be a whole different issue......i'm lost.... I think I need some McHelp! (i have firewire ports if that makes any difference to product suitability)
