White vans and their drivers, man they are irritating, never wave when they stop to let you pass, just shake their heads and give you the evil eye, what are they like, eh? Tsk. -
There's my hat! I wondered where it went.

Scotland Independence - What Should Shetland do?
Njugle replied to Kavi Ugl's topic in Shetland News
Last time around, Shetland was approved status to remain under Westminster, with a strong element of devolved power, if Scotland became independent after the referendum (1978?) However, Edward Thomason bowed to the then Secretary of State for Scotland and the idea was stopped, then subsequently the referendum was binned and the status quo remained. It set a precedent though, Westminster was happy to have us do our own thing and keep clear of Scottish rule. edit - (And of course, Scotland shat itself at the prospect of that.) -
Ghostrider and the misplaced smilies, sounds like a band. Your smilie wish will be granted GR, so long as you've been good, eaten your greens etc. Things are afoot.

This vid could probably go into any of three threads, or warrant its own one, but for now I'll stick it here: Microsoft take mapping to the next level.

^ Yeah, it's quite catchy. I hope that's not damning with faint praise. As for the lovely Alison, I feel in some ways cheated. I know I like it, I know I'm a fan(and it's rare I'd admit that about anybody), but the eighties simplicity of the synth work makes me feel cheated. I even bought it before coming to that conclusion. Meh. Fantastic potential for remixes though, edgier and more in keeping with the smouldering sophisticated tone that Goldfrapp perfected previously.- waiting with baited breath. I still lurv her hopelessly and with total abandon though.

AT there is no immediately apparent reason why your graph would disappear, it's nothing we did. At time of writing I can see it fine. As regards the edit button, some time ago, because of a contrived spate of back-editing posts, we limited the editing function to 30minutes after a post is made. I hope that answers both your questions, please contact a moderator if any similar questions arise. Thanks.

Yeah, It's a nice site. Being picky, I ken folk fae Cunningsburgh with stronger accents, and have also always believed the Moncrieff Scallowa accent to be just that, the Moncrieff accent. The only other person I ken with a similar accent is related to them. Great site and great resource though.

I don't recal the book giving that for Yell Sound, it has 2kts marked for off the coast, north of Tingon, and it would be pretty remiss if the channel has been omitted. Here the best reference I can think of for Yell Sound in full rip, and a "favourite youtube" vid someone posted a while back: Awesome!

It's perhaps a twist on a point, rather than entirely erroneous euripides. I'm guessing the comment referred to was this one: http://www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=142519#142519

@ Stirrer- The Town Hall meeting was chaired well and very orderly. When I first read your post I thought, "Wow, that sounds like it was an exciting meeting" and then realised I was there- and wasn't aware of any "shouting down" at all. I'm totally perplexed by your description.

Crikey, that thing looks like good fun/exercise. You don't say if you've rowed before LD. Such a narrow boat with such powerful oars is quite a tough way to learn in the sea!

I've heard the reverse - That it was Lerrick that protested against the Scallowa een being called Up Helly Aa. So's not to detract from their one, as Scallowa is first in the year.

Aah, what the hell, here's the links: http://www.shannon-fishery-board.ie/press-2003.htm http://www.galwaynews.ie/902-derrybrien-windfarm-court http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/derrybrien-windfarm-purrs-away-despite-huge-landslide-118649.html This is why caution and investigation are of paramount importance. Cherry picking: A fault common on both sides of the debate, but I include this to counter AT's blanket denial of any possibility of a negative occurance. ie "Evidence" Their overall summary of the effect of windfarms on blanket bog was relatively encouraging, but even they could not publish this without the above caveat.
