Supermarkets in Shetland - prices, ethics and experiences
paulb replied to breeksy's topic in Shetland News
the co-ops computers were playing up yesterday they could not take electron and some other debit cards which is fine it hapens. what annoyed us was that there attitude stank it seems its our fault that we only have only one debit card, when the wife asked why could they not have put a note up warning you of the fault instead of waiting for you to go through the checkout and then get refused. they said we were one of only half a dozen that it had affected so it did not matter. well by the end of the day it would have been a more. well we will of course now we will be using tescos more as we dont matter to the wonderful co-op.- 2,063 replies

Gale warning 1533 Tue 28 Oct Northwesterly storm force 10 decreasing severe gale force 9 imminent Shipping forecast 1725 Tue 28 Oct Wind Northwest 7 to severe gale 9 veering east 4 or 5 later. Sea State High or very high becoming rough or very rough. Weather Squally wintry showers. Visibility Moderate or good, occasionally poor. when you say no warnings you should check the sea ones. i know they have sailed in gale force 9 but i assume they cancelled earlier. when of courses there were. once cancelled its cancelled. have a look through the shetland news archive and see how they are praised for sailing in nasty weather. the master of the ship has to decide if its safe to travel he decided it was not end of story.

we all like fresh fish, the salmon are pre packed for them. if the gunk on the nets does that to the seals what does it do to the fish and is it toxic. i was in the co-op looking at the meat and fish its now cheaper to buy salmon than belly pork.

i had steel lintels in the old house and they were shot bowing causing the brickwork to crack up. they ust have been 50 years old though. ive seen lots of concrete flaking fro the rods in it but i suspect it was done on the cheap. a lot seeed to be from the 70s must have been bad for building.

thought there was a rule that said a person in one country should be treated the same as a person in another.

are you not ment to have the same level of service as the rest of the eu.

no where is safe from earthquakes it depends were the faulting of the crust is. on that point there are a number of faults under shetland. and dont forget that we used to be very active just look at the faulting in the exposed rocks.

is just a nicer more open place to work. but will even better when they get their new windows. the only way to compare is to wait and see what tesco's extension works out like. i liked there polish food apart from the fat spread. but they deem to have ran that down. will be intresting to see how they deal with the weather delays over winter.- 2,063 replies

er thanks who was it who wished for snow. if you had watched he met warnings you would have seen them starting with the west of scotland and then down to northern england it was only later that they stuck shetland on to the warning. still heres to global warning -
you could borrow his boat and go and check. i wonder if his near miss has scared him off. seems he's gone very quite. or is there somebody after him for their golden forvik coins.

two smartly dressed chaps would knock on your door. they would give you a matching set of handcuffs and you would be chucked into their car and you would win a record. not sure its worth it for 3 quid. but hey maybe the long arm of the law should pull into there filling station and do them for theft.

true but its a link service not i want to drown service. but thats me i got scared on a boat on the med and that was nearly still . you have enjoyed the fun of being at sea in very bad weather most people i imagine would rather wait.

From the Beaufort scale: 41-47 knots Severe gale 9 48-55 knots Storm 10 56-63 Knots Violent Storm 11 64 knots and over HURRICANE FORCE 12 Hurricane force 12 is a description of the speed of the wind not the type of wind. In complete agreement. ^^^^ However where does HURRICANE FORCE 12 enter into my post it was windy it matters not if it was a force 10.11.12 its still windy i heard a gust in lerwick wa 92 mph whats that in knotts. just checked 92mph=79.9 knotts so hurricane force winds not a hurricane. what bothers me was that there was no decent warning from the met people could have been killed. -

no you need to get it to the vet it could have swallowed some. if ok in the morning should be fine. but im no vet so cant say but they are tough litthe things.
-
f your cat needs the vet they will see them. i recommend them very nice staff. give them a bell first thing and they should help. if its urgent and you cant get the vet call the sspca and the inspector should be able to help.

oh dear hurricane winds tommorrow wonderful shame the met are showing nowt tell a lie they are showing storm force winds. still o dear hope the snow stays off. -
ive just had a look at nigels web sites on those domes. 5 bed house with livining room dinning. big kitchen, utility two toilets ect about £100000. This is a US firm so i guess it would be more over here. it could be done for the waiting list. shame they look weird. but with planning and lots of trees you could hide them.
