Geothermal power, suitable for Shetland?
paulb replied to Nigel Bridgman-Elliot's topic in Science & Technology
do they work as well as they claim -
im not defending my actions. its not ok to slap a child. what i was trying to say which some people clearly didnt bother to understand is that hitting some one is just going to get you not the person wh0 shot at you stole from you into troube. just to clear things up this was a single slap not a beating up. the family was at the time under a lot of stress. the child in questio0n was becoming violent to her mum who is smaller than her when she could not get her way. at no stage did i deny what happened. the person who she was emotionaly mixed up with her was a young adult with a history of causing trouble in his girl friends families. and as i also said this event was a changing point in her relationship with herself and the rest of the family. though i did not enjoy the experiance it was worth it because she is now happy with her life she is progressing in her life goals and also has a very nice boyfriend. so i maybe the worst father in the world but im happy that she has discovered that she is a person with a positive future. if she had been allowed to run a muck i very much doubt that she would be were she is now. again IT IT NOT OK TO HIT ANYONE i thought i would try to explain why its no good to use violence to resolve an issue. it can and does stuff your life up.

then you would be classed as a child abuser. forget getting a job ect. realy dont do it they will hang draw and quater you and probably make you pay him as well. before moving up here i had a spotless record not even a speeding ticket. my then 14 year old daughter got mixed up with a scum bag. her attitude chaged she got violent with her mum so i slapped her once and caused no harm. she runs to the phone calls said scum bag who sets the police on me. i WAS WRONG TO HIT HER. but the police will arrest you they will send you to the sheriff and you will get convicted there is no defence for slapping children. your then classed with all the pedos. it was worth the hassel though she discovered what a scum bag he was and dumped him. glad to say were both very happy again. but watch the scum bags they know the LAW

im surprised that he didnt get a spell in jail. he breached trust and stole public money. if that had been a benifits claimant they would have got sent down. its important that he repays the money but that should be in addition to the punishment not instead. maybe a long spell of community service to pay off the debt. infact a lot of the petty offenders could be made to do it in bright boiler suits. lots of mucky jobs that need doing in fact lots of overgrown ditches need cleaning.

odd that the job/move comes to second to a board game. i would suggest you think a bit harder about the move/job.
-
dont know about the board games but there are paint ballers up here they compete in whole of scotland events.

we would have to tag you to and you would have to stay in over the winter. oh thats a scary punishment not going out at night in the winter.

well pussy food has got expensive. maybe they should claim the icelandic cod stocks for the little pussies. lets send a gun boat and demand our kitty back.

if you bought a house for 100000 your not going to be willing to sell it at a loss. this just means less houses being sold. it does mean you will have less chance of getting the money to buy your first home. i hope you have at least 25% of the house price.

i wonder how much shetland council has invested in the icelandic banks. i just cant believe they missed the opertunity to lose money with iffy investments

he fired a weapon at people wether he was aiming at the child or not he intended to cause harm or fear. he had no remorse so he should have got dumped on. if he had gone into a bank or shop with it he would have got 5 years so why is it ok for him to blast away at a woman and child. did the driver of the car also suffer from personality disorders or was he just a scum bag. i wonder if the little confused child( 18 ) will grow up or his he going to be spending most of his life at HMS expense. is this the same misunderstood person http://force10.co.uk/sn_test/archives/pages/news%20stories/2006/05_2006/ill_gotten_gains_spent_on_sweets.htm http://force10.co.uk/sn_test/archives/pages/news%20stories/2007/01_2007/student_gets_chance_to_clear_name.htm

i agree with khitajrah without transport you are stuck. we have one bus each way to lerwick a day. the west side is friendly im guessing that you live in aith but i dont see why they should be any diffrent than the rest of us. having animals in an animal growing area is just a thing in common with your neighbors. they are very helpful and even if very busy will help you.

im sure theres another name for a person with oppositional defiant disorder. hes a toe rag plain and simple. has his name not cropped up before.

if your willing to adapt to how life is lived up here you will fit in. your kids will have a good time and there education will be one of the best funded and supported there is in the uk. be aware that the exams are scottish so if the kids have started there gcses they will have to start again my daughter was sulky that see had to do catch up of six months. the other thread was more in joke than serious the weather can be bad but it can also be the best in the uk. its just important that you need to relise that its not like the holiday books. its a big change comming up here but its worth it. your husband should easily get work there is loads of building going on up here.

take it back you wont have a problemthey are very good at replacing faulty goods. unlike comet we had a vacuum off them we had it for a day and the motor went. refused to replace or refund tried the trading standards and it would have cost us more than the thing was worth. never went there again

so we have use for one of the giant quarry sites then. what about the others if we planned it well we could have a small hydro system going like the one in wales water runs down when we need power and is pumped back up when there is spare power.

in your view. getting green enery is not stupid. how we use the said energy can be debated. digging up the hundreds of miles of cable would be expensive and damaging.

your all worked up over which is best. the co-op and tesco thank you for your efforts to promote there companies free of charge. as i said ages ago if tesco had not come we would have just been left with the co-op. do you think that the co-op would be so eager to upgrade their store if they had no decent compation they would not have bothered.- 2,063 replies

Religion & Theology (& should we respect beliefs)
paulb replied to JAStewart's topic in Anything & Everything Else
if your wrong its burning time. your mistaking mans corrupt ideas for those of god. if you can look at a flower or a new born child or even a nice view and say it was all by chance then your very lucky to be here. look around you folks this world is wonderful and its not by chance. your putting stupid ideas of man into gods hands and that is not fare. case in point a catholic church school bans there girls from having the new injection for cervical cancer. because it could incourage them into premarital sex. now if you think this idea is gods thats fare but i would suggest putting the blame were it belongs. -

anybodies traditions look odd from the outside. islam is 700 year behind christianity in its development. think what we would have been like in 1308 when did the last shetland witch burn. honestly you shetland folk burning witches, we were much more enlightened than you primatives we just hung them. barbarians. -
