  1. even i would have voted for tavish but not now. i do feel sorry that tavish became involved but in supporting lying and dishonesty he lost my vote. and yes im a card carrying member of the snp.
  2. traditionally you will see our escorts walking in a parade in late jan. you can tell them apart they are holding a flaming torch. feel free to take your pick. there was a newspaper article a few years back about an escort coming here.but i would advise you not to do it. they rust easy.
  3. wow i would want you on my jury if i was him no matter what you would find him innocent.
  4. frances we have one you can borrow. a switch nob is missing but it works fine. just no operator
  5. it seems odd tat we are seeing so much fuss about one candidates beliefs. now what can an elder of the church of scotland do. and for ukipers and labour and the odd conservative what were your candidates beliefs. the snp candidate was not the only clan chief.
  6. as apposed to condemning a man because he is a Christian. yet forgetting ali is an elder of the church of scotland. one spent his life teaching and trying to assist folks. other pent his life judging folks. as it a question on faith can anyone look up Proverbs 14:25 Proverbs 17:15 Proverbs 6:16-19 as ali was a fiscal he should respect the law
  7. try the leader of the snp. not hard. of 56 mps only 3 may have attended private schools. http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/scottish-politics/analysis-snp-bucks-trend-for-privately-educated-mps.126940798 nice try tryin to pass the blame i dont have an issue witj a private education its you and ghosty that are attacking a former eton pupil.
  8. well im really shocked at an anti establishment person that feels supporting a lying or as you put it incompitant mp is the way to go. you jonestly would prefer a man who would lie to keep his job and who betrayed all the liberal policies and beliefs he claimed he stood for. a public servant should be spotless if not quit. as i will repeat if je was replaced by an honest liberal i would not even vote. but we know he will cling on until he cant resist being pushed out of office. and really your party contains a fare few public school boys.
  9. anyway during the next parliament recall will be activated. i wonder if 10% of the electorate could be found to call for a by-election. i suspect it could. so even if the standards commissioner lets him off and he crawls from the court case its not over until he is gone. if the lib's want to retain the seat they really need to start repairing the damage. he has caused them.
  10. we need to also remember our two friends both voted ukip. so i guess being a lying minister would be quite acceptable conduct for a ukiper. probably a little annoyed that their candidate did not even want to win..
  11. as cranky is so keen on implying all people of faith are dodgy. im a mormon and im not ashamed of my belief system. whats yours. after all we should not be ashamed of what we believe. i would much prefer a salvation army officer to be our mp than a bent lawyer. first one is committed to service second well lets just say we come second to his wants
  12. some find fault in even innocent activities whilst not finding wrong doing as a poor example in life. frances don't worry i dont see why it matters. i would have sent my kids to private school possibly not boarding im to clingy most parents would pay for a excellent start to life. if we could. its what you do with your life afterwards that counts. tv programme harrow a very British school was no posher than some grammer schools.
  13. iona is a retreat for Christians. dont see any issues with a person supporting such a foundation. as to his eton education why is it his fault.if he was using the old boys network i would be bothered but he did not. he was a teacher.
  14. how muchg did it cost to look into opening a Facebook account. wow
  15. if you staying in lerwick you wont suffer the worst of the weather. yet saying that you lose a fair bit of sun as well. always seems duller in lerwick than out here on the west side. storms are once or twice a year. just stay in. autumn and spring are the times of the worst ones. it can be diffrent each year. a few years back we nearly had no Brussels sprouts for christmas. due to a spell of windy weather. luckly the 2 stores did an airlift to insure we had them.
  16. no chance of staff accommodation. you say your only commin for a year. so you wont have access to the relocation offer. if you want to pm me i will have the wife message you she has worked in t he hospital and is now on the community team. yes food and drink is expensive. but you will earn an extra 1800 in distant island pay. Up Helly Aa is a close shop. if you really want to join in a fire festival try others. loads to do if you want. can i ask why your wantin to move up here by yourself it can be very lonely.
  17. you cant cap private rents. costs would mean it became uneconomic to rent a house out. house price do drop as well. if you were an investor in property its all a risk. what neepjelly wants is a cheap house on an inflated wage. consider brae.
  18. so 100 quid a day your on 26k a year. 2166 a month less tax ect. if you share you divide your expenditure not double it. so say 700 a month your only paying 350. on your income with out a car its easily affordable. my wife has spent 8 years studying and 10 years of experience. and barely earns more than you. it explains why loads of local employers cant find workers. neepjelly your inflated wages are part of the problem . im not attacking you. you would be mad not taking it. an admin job is not payin anywjere near 26k in real life its paying under 18k.
  19. i cant see it improving. tories are dismantling all support. being poor old or disabled is not sectors were cuts should be made. single people homes are on the increase its obvious it reduces supply if your 1 person households. its a pity we cant impose double or more council tax on second homes or can we. the channel isle control demand quite well. as does isle of man. can we do it i assume not.
  20. 1 beds are listed as bedsits. im not sayin its ok. but under 25s wont be able to claim benefit it was a tory promise.. under 35s can only rent a room in shared private accommodation came in 2012.
  21. im not disagreeing. just facts at the moment a repayment mortgage of say a £100k is 501 at 3.5%| at 8% its 772. still cheaper than private rented. in an ideal world we would have social housing to spare but we dont. even in the 1950s-1980s a sinfle adult was not a priority. its a modern trend to have single person households. i was raised in council housing at one stage we had 4 generations living in a 4 bed terrace. my family lived there from 1935 until it was pulled down in the 1990s. our first bought home was a repo in 1999 for 23k. below is last years social housing stock report http://www.shetland.gov.uk/housing/documents/Stock_Lets_DemandMarch2014.pdf a 2 bed council will cost £315 a month a 3 bed £380. but council wont allow a rental of more than a bedsit to a single adult.
  22. brian i understand were your coming from. but when buying is a lot cheaper and you have an asset afterwards. why would you rent if you could buy. realistically neepjelly will never be offered a house. she does not tick the correct boxes. social housing should never have been sold. its should not be a life tenancy either. fixed terms say 5 or 10 years and review needs.
