  1. Wouldn't worry about it people like that just enjoy bitching about anything and everything they can. I'm sure some of these "born and bred for generations" are from the darkages, hasn't anyone told them Shetland is part of the UK and no a separate country? This kind of story wouldn't even bat an eye anywhere else but up here writing that someone is a "shetlander" who lives here when he wasn't born here is a major insult. Take that kind of opinion to the school yard with the rest of the childish behaviour. k? k.
  2. Steady on Tubbs "we're a local shop for local people, there's nothing for you here!"
  3. of course, speedtest isn't 100% accurate however I've also run plenty of ping tests and tracer's. The kids games are coming back with similar results, something definitely went wrong between last night and this morning. On the subject of Bt being a lower tier ISP, that's all a matter of opinion I certainly value more flexibility on line throttling and download limits over superior customer services. In an ideal world of course i'd prefer BE broadband or even 02 but I can't get them up here, BT is regrettably the best choice for my area for what I need from it, plusnet a close second but too much line throttling with really poor download limits knock them down in my opinion.
  4. Mossbank and firth feels like it slipped back into the darkages, ping of 600ms http://www.speedtest.net/result/1048532776.png And another test on my second line http://www.speedtest.net/result/1048540658.png
  5. Loved the campaign, blew through it in a couple of days on hard mode (where I could). I really like how the online experience has been "blizzardized" i.e tailored to the noobies which I am at RTS after a 5 year break playing wow, the starting online maps where you can't be rushed and the training challenges really helped me break in. I was so dubious at having to pay a console price for a pc game but the campaign alone made it worth while, it was glorious! p.s That cardboard cuttout in clives is mine. I mean yea "cough" I got them to save it for my son "cough"
  6. Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumoured by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. The word enthusiasm comes from the latin words en theos, which means - the god within. In other words, do what excites you, for that excitement is God telling you - "We're on the right path and we are together and isn't this FUN!" Bill Hicks If you lend someone £20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it. On life's journey faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life, nothing can destroy him. Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats (this one is for KOYAANISQATSI) In fact, one thing that I have noticed... is that all of these conspiracy theories depend on the perpetrators being endlessly clever. I think you'll find the facts also work if you assume everyone is endlessly stupid Nothing I do on a daily basis is anything I don't want to do , nothing I don't enjoy with a passion , self indulgent? hell yes it is ..pootle compromise , its my life ..it might all end tomorrow and I'm taking no chances. Ninja EDIT: Three passions have governed my life: The longings for love, the search for knowledge, And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind]. Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness. In the union of love I have seen In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined. With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of [people]. I have wished to know why the stars shine. Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens, But always pity brought me back to earth; Cries of pain reverberated in my heart Of children in famine, of victims tortured And of old people left helpless. I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, And I too suffer. This has been my life; I found it worth living.
  7. The nuke reference is Aliens actually, unless you refer to the "frakk" which has been in use alot longer than the original series of Battlestar galactica, which I do like but I do hold a slight annoyance at "stealing" the phrase I love to use when I want to swear without swearing. ...... The more you know.
  8. Well monkey nuts, why stop at blockades! When the crack commando troops of the mighty isreal are being pushed off small boats into tepid water the only logical resort is a shotgun blast to the throat. Ah frakk it, http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6148/633673088039538329nuket.jpg
  9. firth got a wee sprinkling during the night. Hopefully nothing serious as the missus has surgery in Lerwirk in a few hours!
  10. Kinda surprised no-one's said this. If when you're drunk you're a tosser and you like her, stop drinking. EDIT: Hahah I'm to slow
  11. As someone from Scotland born and bred but with Eastern European blood running through his and his daughter's veins I find the unnecessary eastern european use in the other joke "scam" thread pretty out of line, to even have the moderators chuckling along with it. Nice. Doubt even The Sun would get away with that boll0cks.
  12. Over the last month I became a victim of a clever 'Shetland Islander' scam while out shopping. Simply dropping into Tescos for a bit of shopping has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking voluptuous 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start cleaning your windscreen, their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they'll say 'No' and instead ask you for a lift to the Co-op. You agree and they both get in the backseat. On the way, they start undressing, and both get completely naked. Then, when you pull over to remonstrate, one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over your lap, kissing you, touching you intimately, and thrusting herself against you, while the other one steals your wallet! I had my wallet stolen on November 1st, 4th, 6th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 19th, 22nd, 29th, yesterday and very likely again this coming weekend!! P.S. Tescos have wallets on sale for £1.99 each but the Co-op's are £1.75 and look better.
  13. Well i can't say i'm a supporter of David's just yet! But in all seriousness there is too many funny going on's with this pandemic to make me just roll up my sleeve. Earlier this year the pharmaceutical company Baxter Int sent out 72 kilos of seasonal influenza vaccine contaminated with H5N1, commonly known as bird flu and almost triggered a pandemic with a lethal ratio of 60%. Fortunately this was discovered by laboratory staff in the Czech Republic and the contaminated material could be taken out of circulation. Let me summarise! That is "sent out a contaminated vaccine, 72 kilos of bird flu that would have ended up in peoples arms killing 60% of those injected." The event is now being investigated by the four countries concerned and the investigation is being coordinated by the European Centre for disease prevention and control. Then as recently as yesterday our own Health minister resigns, shortly after the information is released that the vaccine, which was originally going to be ready around February 2010, the time which would be required for clinical trials to take place, has been rushed forward to the end of the month! Here's a well laid out site detailing this new event. http://mikephilbin.blogspot.com/2009/07/uk-health-minister-lord-darzi-quits.html I wouldn't presume to tell people that we are all in the process of being culled or something, but you've got to admit that there is enough suspicious activity going on to warrant perhaps not rolling over and lapping up this new vaccine until more information is available
  14. http://birdflu666.wordpress.com/ Jane Burgermeister's blog, very interesting read. But to see her criminal charges document see here https://share.acrobat.com/adc/adc.do?docid=2c7f15d9-53e6-4a9c-ada7-0592054b3675 and an interview with her on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt9mz3fWmxI&feature=related (edit ignore all that MJ stuff )
  15. conspiracy theory incoming!!! Or maybe Mexico is seeing less death's as they are a developing country and as such haven't stockpiled Tamiflu (which by the by was banned in 2005 in japan for causing child deaths) and also haven't been giving out vaccinations in the volumes that we here at home expect to be receiving.
