  1. I accept entirely what you're saying, thank you for amending your original comment.
  2. My thoughts exactly but I hope this isn't the case.
  3. Do you really think so? That would be a shame.
  4. I'm not questioning that this company is a great reflection on the Shetland community and I applaud everyone supporting Mrs. Inkster, I just don't like the "closing of ranks by Shetlanders" as this is only relevant if you are making a statement as to where Mrs. Ramsey is originally from (i.e. NOT Shetland) If Mrs. Ramsey was a Shetlander the comment would make no sense and is therefore of no relevance. Please be aware that to my knowledge it is many local people whether they hail from Shetland or not that are supporting Mrs. Inkster
  5. I really don't see how being a Shetlander is relevant to this argument, it's more about right and wrong, the law and morals surely? This is also assuming that only Shetlanders are backing Mrs. Inkster?
  6. I can see both sides of this argument but Shetland is a very small place so rocking the boat, fighting your corner etc. can often cause you more harm than good. As previously mentioned, both companies will continue to survive whatever the outcome but sometimes it's better to let sleeping dogs lie and bite your tongue. Already in this post members are talking about not going to one or the other supplier which highlights my point.
  7. I regularly get stuff shipped up from South and can't always dictate which haulier/courier handles it this end. After a while you get to know which companies do their best to deliver asap, which ones hold on to deliveries and for how long, which ones just don't seem to know what's going on! I won't go into specifics because I do work for one of these companies and have worked for others.
  8. Good to see this in Shetland, shame it isn't done on the mainland here.

    Anyone for BJJ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_Jiu-Jitsu by any chance? I think you'll need a bit more than a garage space with carpet down unless you want injuries
  10. Nothing again from the mods? I guess they don't need the revenue
  11. Are sausage skins not sometimes tied at the end?
  12. Thank you, hopefully a mod will contact me. I did use the contact info. on here a while back but never got a response.
  13. Can someone tell me how much advertising is on Shetlink, or, who I need to email to get information please?
  14. I would think a re-map is the best option, certainly no sign of higher grade petrols here
  15. Smart Repairs at Voe specialise in minor repairs and Tom is kept very busy with ongoing Council work. Valley Valeting at Tingwall, not sure how busy they are....busy around the car show no doubt. I mention both because they may be worth contacting with a view of joining forces, you never know, they may be looking to move on?
  16. Yes, I assume this is what causes it. It appears to be thick, heavy dust which would make sense. I took the back off the tumble dryer and had to clean it all out, it doesn't brush off it's that thick! I'm looking at air purifiers, maybe these would help.
  17. Does anyone else find they get an incredible amount of dust in their house around East Voe area? I assumed it was because of the quarry but according to their website they've eliminated air bourne dust by enclosing all equipment. Anyone have any problems?
  18. Speak to Shetland Transport and get rates for 1/2 or full pallets as it works out cheaper than paying for boxes individually when you send more than a few
  19. Already been sorted, offered to get this done but it's all in hand.
  20. I print onto pretty much everything else I can probably get something done for you, depends on the time-scale really. PM me if you want to discuss further, I'll check out turnaround times.
  21. I used to have my Volvos worked on by an independent garage. The owner was ex-Volvo so had many years of training but set up by himself as he wasn't happy with the time constraints put on jobs. His rates were about 1/2 what I paid the main dealers, the work was always to the highest standard. I would have thought there were independent garages specialising in Volvos within easy reach of Aberdeen, well worth a search.
  22. www.shiply.com is a great website, you detail what you want and companies bid on the job. I got a 75Kg load moved from London to Aberdeen for a very good price. Obv. you'd then have to pay to get it over to Shetland which can be the expensive bit. 5 x 20Kg sacks sounds like it would fit onto a 1/4 pallet load, speak to Shetland Transport, they can collect through out England as well. Make sure you ask for a part pallet load rather than per sack as this will work out much cheaper

  24. Only had the blackberry with me and the video recording is a waste of time which is a shame. Didn't pop out of the water very far but was great to see it, my first sighting. Not at all like me to get a glimpse, I usually read about it in the Times having just missed out! Right place right time I guess
