  1. went to a house today and they had air to air units fitted in 2002 or 2005 costing approx £4500, 3 A/C units with 4 air blowers inside the house. The owner is very impressed with them he reckons they are 300% efficient and uses economy 7 during the winter nights. he didnt mention any down side to them. they are japanese makes. I have read that air to water units are better and are used in under floor heating.
  2. You can also get air source heat pumps, which you can fix to the side of your house. they can extract heat from air temperatures of minus 15. I havent seen any yet. I recently visited a factory/office refurb that installed boreholes for ground source heat pumps, which i will have to investigate further. I read about a housing association in england installing boreholes which went down 80m, I suppose the depth depends on the geology.
  3. I can do the job and i want to move up, but i also enjoy my hobbies. I have no intention of sitting in front of a tv nor sat in a pub during the long winter evenings. home is what you make it but without like minded people to enjoy your past times it could quite easily become a lonely prison. look at the 'moving to shetland' thread, there are some lonely people in shetland, i dont intend being one of them. i will have to give up many of my interests, which i accept.
  4. My job application form has to be back by 17th Oct. Could people ask about gaming for me please, I will play war hammer if the oppostion are adults, down here its more popular among children and its no fun beating them.
  5. Thats a good start, I thought paintball tournaments would be a no no, with the travelling involved. Are there any paintballers on the forum?
  6. I am thinking of moving to Shetland and would like to know if there are any wargaming/board gaming clubs or groups? my interests are varied and i have a nice collection of figures and board games. I also paintball and airsoft which i think will end if i move up I will initally have to leave my family behind and will need to keep my interests going rather than just sat at home playing PS3 or PC online with virtual people!
