  1. Estimate now with Admiral.... Waiting for their desicision.
  2. Also if your car is in a body repair garage for insurance assessment, make sure the garage sends in a quote for all the damage. I went to the garage and discovered they had only quoted for a wing and bumper, not the sill, bonnet scratch and dent or driver door scratches or the passenger door that would not open more than 10 cm, nor checked if the engine etc was ok, so a revised quote has to be sent. So we are no further than the day of the accident 8th December 2015 and still no car. With the garage not being a garage used by the insurance company when they do work, if it is not satisfactory or complete, the insurance co will not take responsibility. I advise phoning the insurance co to see what has been put on the estimate for repair. Crossed fingers that a revised quote goes in soon.
  3. We had a car accident due to black ice and insured with Admiral. Just a few pointers to note regarding the claim They said we had not used one of their garages for recovery so we're not covered. This was OK when they realised that their garage was in the North of Scotland BUT if you have an accident it may be safer to contact your insurance before recovery is booked. The body repairs - again they do not have a garage on Shetland, note if they give the go ahead to use a garage here who said that, date and time, as every call we make they seem to have missed reading this. In their notes. There is a difference between hire car and courtesy car. This may be obvious to most people BUT if your car can be repaired and you have fully comp your insurance may state you can have a courtesy car. 1 From their arranged garage and if they don't have one, from their chosen car hire firm ... admiral use Enterprise .. That is not in the small print but they insist we cannot have one at the moment. I've suggested them putting an enterprise car on the boat in that case! So they are 'considering' local firms, but worth checking with your insurance. 2. If the car is a write off you cannot have a courtesy car .. If you took out the extra hire car insurance you can have a hire car if the car is written off or stolen. THAT IS AN EXTRA. Hope this helpful, oh and a courtesy car only comes into operation once the work commences. So Christmas or a time with lots of accidents is very inconvenient!

  5. Before hiring a car south check the feedback on forums such as trustpilot.co.uk.We thought we had bagged a bargain with Atlaschoice but if we had looked at the feedback would have seen the massive 1 star ratings they had received. When we arrived at Edinburgh Airport on the last flight and went to collect the car from Easirent - the company used by atlaschoice - they would not let us have a car unless we paid their excessive excess charge, we have our own excess car hire insurance and had taken ALL the documentation with us. So we went to Enterprise who could not have been more helpful and overall were cheaper than Atlaschoice turned out to be. Just look at the feedback there are so many issues with this company, we did not get as far as the condition of the car or fuel... The man at Easirent- the company used by Atlaschoice- was dealing with an Asian gentleman before us who was expecting a ford Focus as he had specifically checked this was the car he could have when he booked. He was told there wasn't one but could call back in two days and there might be one. When he left the hut the man at the desk laughed and said they had a few in but would not let him have one. So please look at the forums first and save yourself cash and stress!
  6. Be aware a scam is circulating informing people they have won vast amount of money on the commonwealth of Nations Online Lottery and claim to be linked to euro millions and glasgow2014. They request bank details to pay the prize into! THIS IS A SCAM please do not reply, the current address is based in London, previous addresses in Glasgow etc have been busted.
  7. The craft shop staff are really helpfull, even advised a lower price item that was more suitable for what I needed. LBC great and Hayes, especially both carrying out the Ovoids to the car which is greatly appreciated. As mentioned before Geordies will give advice and it is an alladins cave with most things there. Thanks to all of you!
  8. Can anyone tell me if the mobile phone company provider - 3 - is any good for reception in Shetland?
  9. I was recently caught out by expcouriers offering to move me to Shetland as an extra to another move. Roger (raj) phoned 2 hours before collection and said his van was full and left me stranded. The other move was a couple to Symbister on Whalsey. I would love to be in touch with them to hear how they found things. I had an email out of the blue from Roger today saying bI was not to be in contact again and I was bullying him and blackmailing him. It was the other way around, he said he would help me get my belongings up here if I changed my feedback, stupidly I did that and, you wilkl guess, that was as much as it came to! Yes, I can see it was stupid of me to ever have been taken in by him, I've learn't the hard way, but I will not get caught out with a sob story again! If the couple he moved are reading this please will you contact me, and everyone else don't just rely on feedback for a company! C
