  1. Hello again, I still have a stomach pain but it seems to be very localised so much so that I am going to mark the place with a marker, I beleive that I'm getting used to the pain. I have only taken two paracetamol today. My virtual self force fed protein drink, from yesterday, is not moving. I did have some movement yesterday. Liquid intake is improving. I nervously risked going shopping today Monday the 13th. Thank goodness nothing untoward occurred. At around 1130 I received a message from my doctor the lady asked if I was able to take a 'phone call from the doctor on Wednesday, So I am waiting with bated breath and bum, 'til then. What colour marker should I use? Regards, Rex.
  2. Liquid intake has improved but it causes some pain but I'm killing of my pain receptors with Paracetamol. Or maybe I'm getting used to it. Thanks for asking Frances. I took some protein mix today. but it hasn't gone very far, anyhow I am a damned sight better than I was. Stug, I agree with you wholeheartedly thank goodness that no-one has moaned on this forum, unless of course, Most people who are using this forum have taken care of their own health hence they are taking part here. I know many people who were unable to take care of theirselves and they died from lack of care. Some of these people had mental problems, others were wrongly diagnosed, others because no-one cared. So now they are no more.I suppose that these are the ones that had no commonsense. Our hospital staff are very well paid now. Part of the agreement for an increase in pay was for an increase in hours or at least an increase in efficiency. If at any time you you feel that you," need a freeing up of a doctor to concentrate on those of you who unfortunately genuinely need their care." You can have my appointment. Meanwhile I will carry on divulging how things are progressing in my case. Regards, Rex.
  3. Friday the 10th Jan 2014 1346 I received a 'phone call from my Doctor and was told that I needed to have an x-ray now that my ultrasound had been done. I told the doc that it had been done on the same day as my above scan. So obviously my x-ray and scan results have not quite managed to cover the vast distance from hospital to health centre yet. Anyhow On the 9th of Jan at 0130hrs, (My sleep apnoea gives me a jolt of adrenalin before I snuff it, so I often go on the computer to get my revs down).I ordered a cd and it arrived today at around lunchtime, despite snow, floods and pestilence in Warrington. Maybe the South Road has been extra busy lately. The doctor also told me that a a letter had been sent to the surgery dept, yesterday and it was marked urgent. Persons following this thread may have noticed a discrepancy in this. Anyhow if my pain increases I should seek help and I could have some painkillers. I have decided to stick to Paracetamol. My pain is under control, I am able to take in more fluids but, eating is not so good just minute amounts. From tomorrow I'm going to add a healthy protein mix to the fluids. I am looking forward to a fish supper eventually. Regards, Rex.
  4. I have managed to drink approx 1 litre of tea today. My problems are known at the hospital since last tuesday, I know that at least two duty doctors and my own doctor have read the report including my own own doctor. So either there is a lack of interest in my case, a lack of correct communication, or the ultrascan found blockage that is causing my kidney to retain fluid and causing the pain is a David Acorian orb. So by the time,(two or three weeks) when the x-ray has been interpreted. And the location pinpointed? A letter has been sent to the surgical unit, so someone has thought that I may need surgery, fire festival this weekend so there will be no movement this weekend, ( talking about movement nothing has passed from me yet). I still have pain when I drink but Paracetamol is dampening it somewhat.I am however peeing a little more but I did lose fluid last night "I woke this morning dripping wet but, no problem it was just sweat", that is the start of a blues song I will sing when this comedy of errors is finally sorted. Sorry about that I have to use comedy in stressful situations. As I have said before this is not a new problem, I have complete copies of all my medical records up until December last year. So where am I now, I am getting to the stage where I will have to visit A&E but, the A&E's are having problems with patients visiting them instead of GP's. "but wait," ** three GP's knew of the problem over the 7th and 8th of this month which was this week. Paul, I agree. Chris our nurse is great and he's a friend, so I do not want to invove him in anything political I never ask him any questions that can be compromising. If anyone from "The Shetland Times," would like to accompany me when I appear at A&E they would be welcome, after all they wont let me take my poor blind dog. That is a dog that is blind not I. "but wait," ** my brain is very grasshopper like, and when I wrote that for some reason my mind said it with an Irish accent. So can I recommend listening to Molly Blooms Soliloquy in fact why not watch the film "Bloom." Regards, Rex.
  5. Here I am again I mentioned that I was given painkillers namely Dihydrocodeine. I do now check all medicines on the net or at times by the laboratory who make them. I have managed to take in 305 mil of water and a 50 pence piece of bread to force down my warfarin tablets today. Thanks to all who have offered advice I really do apperciate it, but I am monitoring myself well and being very careful not to endanger myself. I am also being careful in case ambulances try to run me over.Paul I do believe that the ultrasound lady was trying to contact my doctor or the duty doctor to see what the next step should have been.I am also going to demand to see my x-rays.I am trying to invade the privacy of people who are determined to guard my privacy from me.Regards, Rex.
  6. Today at 1100hrs the 7th of Jan I had an appointment for an ultrasound scan on my abdomen & pelvis. I had to struggle to get to the appointment, the reason for this was that I have been ill for a number of weeks hence my scan. This illness increased in the last four days giving me extreme pain in my abdomen I cannot eat, it isn't that I do not want to eat the food, it will not go down and is very painful. Even water is painful to drink. I have not defecated for four days just mini little squirts. My urine is also in very small amounts. These problems are uncontrollable. They are also potentially very embarrassing I am very dehydrated obviously So why am I giving all these embarrassing details? Because I know that the same problems, or similar types of problems have happened to others. So what I have decided to do is to give a running account of what happens from now on. Not only will it be published here but in a newspaper and an NHS improvement site. It will not go to any NHS run sites by my hand, as this will allow them to say we are aware of these problems and are making changes. After my ultrasound scan, I was told that there were signs of of a blockage, so it was understandable that I had pain. I was sent for an x-ray scan on the spot to try to pinpoint where the blockage is. I asked the operative if he had found the problem. The reply was that he could not give any information about x-rays, but I would be informed in two or three weeks. I was also told that they had tried to contact my doctor. He was unavailable on this day but the duty doctor would, (maybe) contact me today the7th of Jan or Wednesday the 8th of Jan. 8th of Jan Wednesday, at approx 1130 hrs I received a call from the duty doctor saying that they had written a prescription for painkillers and that my doctor had written to the surgical dept to make an appointment for me. So that is okay then, I will not feel any pain as I dehydrate, I can last longer without food. I have now got the answer to an old problem, when you are using a hammer and you hit your hand, and it hurts it is because you didn't take Paracetamol. So that is where I am now, not able to drink or eat. This whole thing is not anything new it has been ongoing for a couple of years now. I also suffer from atrial fibrillation, sleep apnoea, a newly found aortic aneurysm and I am 77yrs old. I do not mind if people are too fearful to reply to this I just want to get this out there. Next report tomorrow. Regards, Rex.
  7. I believe that we should follow the example of the Wiltshire Council and axe from the top. If the skip contract only cost £60,000 per year, then axing a top officials job would be a saving of 3 years skip costs. We could then have skips to put the fiddles in that were taken from the childrens music lessons. The above "The New Colossus" has reference to our dumping problem. Unfortunately the lamp may be out, due to cuts. Regards, Rex.

  9. I cannot play it or any instrument, except the harmonica. In fact I have never seen a kora in real life, so I got my ideas from pictures and by reading about them. I love almost all types of music from blues to opera and I came across the kora by accident and the sound fascinated me. I then became more engrossed in it the more I heard. There are some beautiful pieces on the web. Look this up on youtube. A Welsh, harp virtuosa, name of Catrin Finch and a Senegalese kora virtuoso Seckou Keita. Whilst playing it remind yourself that they are jamming to an old African song. I get so caught up with this kora and harp duet, that I get tears in my eyes not, from sadness, but at the beauty of it. Regards, Rex.
  10. Hooray, I have just finished building a full size kora, 21 strings. It has a 42cm/16in gourd, the overall length is 160cm/ 63ins. It is tuned to F at the moment but I may change this. I now have to build a hard case for it which will double up as a coffin. I suppose that I should start building the second one now but first to celebrate with a couple of bottles of Rioja.. I will post some 'photos if anyone is interested and I can work out how to do that. Yes it is Shetland News. How many others have been built here? Regards, Rex
  11. 1.By observation. 2.By discussion with the people, which means I personally know the people. 3. No I do not stereotype people. You obviously do, otherwise you would not have said, "meeting these people." 4.Children do not choose to be in poverty, they are brutally forced into it. In certain parts of the world Poverty is caused by regimes, floods, famines, in Britain our poverty is mostly caused by greed, stupidity, inadequate people who receive inflated salaries, and theft. Incidently this thread is about child poverty. and how it is possible in our day and age. Regards, Rex.
  12. You seem to have a dislike of the old paul. Are you an ageist? Many of the older people have obviously being paying in for a better life for all, since 1948 I started paying in for my and your future at the age of 12. The child poverty in those days was caused by wars and there was no help for anyone who fell on hard times. We, including this twelve year old, were proud to pay in our bit for extra aid for people, hence the NHS etc. If one of our neighbours couldn't manage we put our hands in our pockets for them. When you are older how much will you have paid in? Will it be more than you have taken out? Will you have put food on some needy childs plate. I and others have served in the military for your benefit! Look at some of the pseudo sick people around you claiming dubiously entitled benefits, in fact you may be one of them. You will know of people who are co-habiting and have two residences which are partially paid for by benefits, (but cannot declare it or they will loose money.) Their words not mine. I do despite all this believe that children should not be in poverty ever. Really their parents have put them in that position. Until I was 12, I was in a childrens home with my brother and sister, I then found my Mother and we worked together to to get them home. So what can we do about it, First of all stop wingeing and relax, listening to Bob Dylans " Dignity." Have you seen it?
  13. I would also like to add praise to parts of the GBH. I recently had to undergo surgery which required an overnight stay. I was looked after with care and did not feel that I was a burden to all. So thank you. I do not want to give praise and to instantly take it away so I will leave it at that, for now.
  14. I too find this disgusting and will add to any reward offered. There will also be a lot of people at this very moment who actually know who the guilty persons are. The persons will also be feeling very guilty at the moment and it will gnaw at their guts for a long time maybe for ever. Name them and shame them. Even better would be that the criminals quietly show how brave they are by going and apologising to the families concerned. regards, Rex.
  15. hello again. Here is a quite an "amusing "document to allay our fears. the whole thing is a quote that I have downloaded. I will add comments by me, bracketed to avoid confusion (I am unsure if this is from now on forth or, a statement from what has been happening.) (This would mean no gagging clauses and no implied threats, they have been illegal for a number of years anyhow.) The 11 key priorities on the scorecard are: (This is virtually admitting that murder, manslaughter or corporate neglect leading to death has happened.)* [ (As * above. An admirableview of what hospitals should have been all along.) (This is the frightening sentence. It has been proven that patient care and health has been at the bottom of the list for some time. Financial management has been where the emperors have sat, untouchable and unaccountable. A welcome change has been promised for this state of affairs.) Et tu Rex. Damnatorum ius.
  16. Has there been a raid?
  17. April 3rd, 2013 by Shetland Times Councillor Allison Duncan, were you acting on behalf of the council when you regally notified that you were attending freefield, as below? You did not give them time to organise the band and bunting. Oh and of course you did not give them the chance to contact all interested parties. Was this an oversight or a clumsy ploy? Of course I do not believe it was part of a bullying tactic. So I will ask again. Were you acting with and on behalf of the council and loosely on behalf of us? I for one do not want you to do it again It was arranged by you after the monthly meeting, in fact on that very night. There seem to be lot's of possible questions that could be asked as to why. By the way did you have lunch there?
  18. You are witnessing the classical divide and rule strategy. We the ordinary people,(please forgive me if I have downgraded/upgraded you), feel that we can do nothing to change things. * The old fashioned way was to join together and chop off a few heads. This made some short term changes in our lives and made us laugh when we went to the 'pub to celebrate.** Then came Tolpuddle and Jarrow as we became more and more civilised, which once again made some short term changes to our lives. Fast forward to the present day. We have voted in our, "oppressors", henceforth known as "Them" We realise that,"Them/They," are richer than us, We are offered a short term glimpse into a better life, "as we're all in it together." Now we realise that the old person down the road is the one who is holding us back. The disabled person on the same slippery road is the same. I dare not forget the single mothers. We all know some supposedly disabled people and supposed old people that are faking it, after all its the old and poor's own fault that they are old and poor and the disabled are just that. So the "Thems and Theys," realise that we are envious of the old and infirm after all, they get more benefits than us. And they take a long time to die so we can't inherit their ill begotten gains. So the "Thems and Theys," stop some of their monies and we rejoice, we understand the, "Thems and Theys," and they understand us. Suddenly we realise that we have been duped by the "Thems and Theys," none of the cuts can affect them, 1% of £1,000,000 is not the same as 1% of £110. So should we cut off heads? The ,"Thems and Theys," have made it illegal, unless it is done under the NHS. Should we march? No it's cold and wet out and we only have another 5 years to wait to get rid of them So," what're we gonna do"? I have it, refer to the vultures in the Jungle Book film on youtube. You have just been divided and ruled by me. *** I'm not so bad, I made you laugh or at least I directed you to a good laugh and the words are so true for today. * This is due to apathy. ** Moving the landlord further up the steps and knocking us further down. 1 pint £3.50! *** Damn! I am old, disabled by age and an ex soldier, whom has paid taxes etc since 1948 so I lose all round. I have four bullet holes in my abdomen, that the surgeon cleverly used to remove my gall bladder to prevent further scarring It serves me right

I have had a couple of replies to my contact emails to councillors. I now have a better knowledge of what is happening and why, the cuts. I'm also learning more from the posts here, thanks to peat and others. I may not agree with all that is said but it does not mean that I hate people for having different views. So each time I come on this forum I seek to learn something. So I'm going to slightly modify some of what I have said before. This is not a guarantee that I wont have a sarcastic rant ever again! So what are the possible solutions to help, not so much COPE, but, the disabled folks that (may) have their important jobs pulled away. That last sentence may seem condescending but please, look beyond it. Are the cuts really going to mean abandoning these people? Peat, no he's not my hero, has asked why we ranters and biters are not doing more by volunteering. He's right because we have a system that was and is failing us. Mostly, we are not the folks who have caused these ridiculous debts. They have been caused by dimwitted, nepotic others, sorry about using the word dimwitted, because really these folks have known exactly what they were doing. Also I'm sorry for using the word nepotic because some folks are often called boobalubes. For boobalubes substitute bastardos. So let us all help. Regards, Rex.

Quick apology, Yesterday whilst in Lerwick I was handed a piece of papaer from someone that I know with details and contacts fo The Lerwick Community Council. He thought that the Cope issue was being handled by the above LCC. Apparently this was wrong, it is the SIC and the Amenities Trust. I am sorry that I didn't check on my source and I am sure that someone on the forum would have quickly told me that I was wrong, if they had known. Or would they? I will give the benefit of the doubt to the forum. So I will now address my concerns to the correct people. Maybe other folks could also do the same. Regards, Rex

I have had to modify this post because of time constraints, it has now also become an email to the LCC. We are a group of people who do not want our vulnerable people ignored and victimised. In some cases maybe they are victims already. The chances they have been given have helped them immensely, even the stroppy ones,it has also helped all of us to be more caring and understanding people. Do not take this away from us and them. Below is, in fairness to, The Lerwick County Council, a copy of a post that was/is going to be put on a forum explaining how we could tackle a very vicious and cruel funding cut. Here is the original post to the forum. If we want to try to make a difference to these ridiculous and cruel cuts, we have very little time. The next council meeting is Mon 1st April 2013 but it may be changed for Easter. I know that this is a chore but please contact the members and politely demand that they stop the proposed cuts until we have had a public discussion, which should include some of the people who would be victimised. I am not going to propose what you say in your letters, standard letters are useless in my opinion. The same letter can be sent to each of the members. Address the letter to the names of the recipients Letters can also be sent to Newspapers, Private eye etc I don't know if emails can be guaranteed to go to the named recipient. The address is, Lerwick Community Council, 1 Stouts Court, Lerwick, ZE1 OAN. I have just spoken to the clerk, to see if the meeting would be going ahead on Easter Monday. The answer is yes. She is preparing for the meeting today and has suggested that we contact her by email and she has promised to pass on all messages and add it to the agenda. I am loathe to put in my email, other peoples posts but I will enclose a copy of this my post and send it now. Regards, Rex

I have not been able to forget this thread and I ended up thinking about who the people are that have reached this decision. I found that some of the people are persons who have had their own problems and were covered by benefits, grants etc to help them and their families until they were able to cope. So now that they are recovered or financed by various agencies and things have been smoothed by taxpayers money, The to hell with the rest attitude is now in place. I spent some time in Mauritiius, with the military, where we adopted a feisty blind child in a L' Eglise Pere Laval, the Nuns were hard pressed to take care of Francois. He was housed in a large sheltered cage during the day with a bowl for food and a water bowl, his toilet was the concrete floor. With our donations, we showed him a better life. Now Cope folks are better off than that and believe it or not Francois had the best life he could have had in the circumstances. Thank goodness we helped him? Then we left and we left him?

So the powers that be have finally reached an all time low. They have decided that the folk at Cope are not worth helping any more. It seems they do not have the right to have useful and enjoyable life. They are a soft touch and after all the SIC, the various trusts and council must stop them getting any money that can be used for perks, birthday and various parties that run each year. May this rest on your consciences, corporate or not for a very long time. Exciseman, I agree with you and congratulate you for pointing out what we all know is the truth. rex.
  24. But, you can and must believe everything that you read on a hazardous waste bag even one that may seem empty. I believe that the issuer of the bag should give diections on disposal methods. Hamiltonian. You do not have to be anonymous, I'm not. regards, Rex.
  25. I wish people would stop making excuses for inefficiecies. It was in a HAZARDOUS WASTE BAG and has to be treated correctly and sensibly according to law. Was it empty or full? Only a fool would check! If at a later date anyone finds a shell or bomb do not shake it or hit it with a hammer to check if it is live. This is also dangerous. It was correctly reported! From there on it was handled by unknowlegeable people who floundered about. Do we not have a hazardous waste policy anywhere? I thank the finder for being so patient and trying to find someone to deal with it. Let us hope that it was full of, what Paul suggested. Incidently the contact should be Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60 a 24hr service, so it is important. Just imagine a bag of anthrax swabs laid outside for 2-3 days. Whoops---.
