As i have said in the past this is how police states start and some of you lot took me to task over it.

Now that was a sensible and better note than your last one but I am considerably older than you and have traveled extensively all over the world and have seen how when certain individuals are given a little bit of power misuse it so I can understand how some people are apprehensive. I also understand that certain rules have to be put in place and enforced but I heard today that someone was fined by the police for visiting the cake fridge on the Aith/Voe road. I think that if this is true it is no wonder that there is apprehension. one of the problems is the fact that we do not know what is true and what is not and just because the person saying it is in a position of authority does not make it true. We have all seen how our leaders have manipulated to their own advantage over the years.

I do not think that anyone has said that any of these laws constitute a police state, but it is being pointed out that police states do not start overnight, small things to start with. I do notice though that it is now being said that certain of these items may have to stay indefinitely.

I find it disturbing that some police officers etc. seem keen to overstep their authority. I hope that when this is over the extra police powers are rescinded. It is not hard to see how a police state can come into being. It is said that we are one of the most-watched populations already, Cameras at every street corner, etc. Look at history, Stasi and other organizations, You wake up one morning to a knock on the door and find the police there, your neighbour has reported you. The report of bus drivers taxi drivers springs to mind.

I always said it would take an alien invasion to unite and sort out the world,
all the consumerism, affluenza, myism etc. Jettison the useless 1/3.

I am not saying that Ghostrider is correct but I do understand where he is coming from as some of our leaders over the years have bent the truth to suit their needs. Can you ask an MP a  simple question and get a straight and honest answer, more often than not you will get waffle. Fear is a  weapon and has been used by leaders since we came down from the trees.

It will be interesting to see which countries give up the special powers that they have brought in when this is over. It is to be hoped the leaders of countries learn from this and start working together to build a global community to benefit everyone and not just the wealthy but as money/banks have been running things up until the present time I doubt if we will see any change in attitude. We should also prepare for the next disaster which will come be it climate asteroid pandemic alien attack.

Hello, Thank you for the info. I did not know about the new frequencies so I will check them out, I did intend to put a homemade antenna up to see if there was anything but on asking people locally I would not hold out much hope. Everybody uses mobile phones etc. but as you say it may be a good idea to have a backup. The mobile phone/internet has also influenced amateur radio.

Is there anyone out there who uses cb radio.

Perhaps the sheriffs know that he is correct in what he says and they feel that they have to hit him hard.

If the people who spend their time criticising Mr Trump spent some time in America they may get another point of view, he has tried to get a lot of things done but due to the political system is stopped from doing so, the two houses always seem to be against each other. I do spend a lot of time there.

There should be more research into zero point energy as that would solve a lot of problems.

Unless we get the population down we will not be doing any startreking as we will be fighting each other for food and water, that will of course get the population down but it may throw us back to the dark ages.

I believe peope have largely woken up to religious dogma and are now questioning its origin and practices. Things like homophobia, stoning and condeming blood tranfusions are now sore points in religious texts, among other things. Other worldy gods and miracles now seem far fetched. We’re now a lot less likely to listen and follow without question in todays open and globalised society.
 
Different countries are at different levels though. Where there is sufferring, loss, oppression/less openess, religion tends to thrive since people flock to it for meaning, belonging and conformity. Even the US seems to be still far more into it than Europe, where you can still be an outcast for being an atheist.
 
Alien theory. Could we have been visited by a superior race who have influenced texts, evolution, genetics, and thought they were gods? Certainly one theory than in many ways seems more plausable. We know so little of our ancient history or sudden advancement. We dont even know the true purpose of the pyramids, with recent discoveries showing they channel electromagnetic energy beneath them. We do know wormholes, time travel are theoretically possible, and even NASA is slowly releasing UFO footage. And look at what we’re discovering in genetics, we could be creating monsters and half man half machine soon enough! So to me, everything is still wide open. It is arrogant to think we’re the most advanced race that ever existed anywhere.
