  1. Has anyone else using Internet Explorer 11 (on Windows 7 if that makes a difference) noticed some odd problems navigating Shetlink forums recently? For some weeks (I think this started after a big Windows update - groan) I haven't been able to: a) use the quote function when replying to forum posts (it just puts the cursor in the reply box) paste links from other sites (e.g. Speedtest), and c) scroll up and down the post entries other than by dragging the scroll bar. Neither the mouse scroll wheel nor clicking in the scroll bar works. The scrolling issue only shows up in the actual topic posts, not the titles page - and only when I click to a thread using the "last post" link. However the quote/paste problems are permanently there, as I have just discovered while trying to move some text around here . None of these issues have shown up on any other sites, even ones that use the same forum software. The only thing I can think of is there is some weird Ad link on the "last post" page that is interfering with IE. None of this is evident when using Firefox, but I don't like being outfoxed by Microsoft
  2. This must be a more complicated fault than usual, as the upload speed is affected too - first time I've seen that with line speed issues (other than cable breaks of course!). Presumably the time-to-fix is going to be lengthened by the Bank Holiday?
  3. Er, that would be the Scrap Store then? In my experience, it's mostly Shetlinkers browsing the For Sale ads that expect summat for nowt
  4. That'll be for those who sign in using their preferred anti-social media. I guess those sites offer such ease of managing your logins so they can know absolutely everything about you.
  5. Working fine on PlusNet. Incidentally,if you turn the binary number 011100110110001101100001011100100111100101110011011010000110100101110100 into vaguely recognisable decimal terms, it is approximately 2.13x1021 - and that just happens to be the number of seconds left until TalkTalk receive their Which? ISP Best Buy accolade. Spooky!
  6. Maybe, when her husband-to-be asked what sort of honeymoon she would like, she forgot to insert "tropical" into her answer of "a remote island paradise" ? ... or was she suggesting that the accident was in letting him book the honeymoon as a surprise
  7. Well, lad, 'appen if thee were wi' a proper outfit like that there PlusNet*, you might get to speak Yorkshire wi' Obidiah on t' telly-phone oop on Ilkley Moor an' 'ave 'alf a chance o' understandin' 'im - that is if you can 'ear 'im o'er the yappin o' 'is whippet. * Yes yes, I know they're really BT behind the mask
  8. Nicely dovetailing into a tribute to the late Graham Stark, I wonder if this is how SP will be greeted at the Factory?
  9. Haven't seen any degradation all evening... mebbe you need to ShoutShout at TalkTalk?
  10. http://www.speedtest.net/result/3067991132.png Seems fine just now?
  11. That'll be the tide - you can test this by going out and taking a photo a few hours later, then it will slope right to left as the water rushes back the other way*. if you wait for slack water, the horizon should be straight The easiest way to avoid fecking about with extra software is do as SD often does - use a decent vantage point & zoom in tightly to avoid the horizon! * I read this on the internet, so it must be true
  12. The standing charge is levied for having the service connection - same as the charge for a phone line etc, then you pay for what you use on top of that. As the OP has mentioned being a low user, maybe the standing charge was originally waived? Being fed the story in dribs & drabs makes it hard to fathom what has happened. Perhaps they should take the matter up with the CAB.
  13. Could it be that the OP is in a Hjaltland property that has been upgraded with the new-fangled ("intelligent", though I doubt that very much!) storage heaters? From what I've read, they have a different charging regime, so maybe the "total control" in THTC isn't flexible enough to run them efficiently? As to the standing charge, I thought that all energy supplies have always had that - perhaps it's just been made clearer in the pricing?
  14. However, if someone considers a phone to be "smart", then they probably aren't from the sapiens branch of the species
  15. Hmm, my daily adblock limit is up, so I now see an ad for breast enlargement... I sincerely hope that isn't "targeted" advertising My moobs are big enough already!
  16. Welcome to the Twilight Zone! Arf. I've had erratic email notification of PM's since the changeover, but "in-house" it all seems to work as before. So if you have a live ad then it might be wise to log in as often as you can to check for messages. As for re-listing, I thought there was an explanation from Trout with instructions somewhere here?
  17. What I don't understand* is a) what this has to do with Shetlink and why it is in the Welcome forum, and why folk who join something and refuse to adhere to its rules then try to change the rules to suit themselves. Oh, wait, that would be a bit like a Soothmoother coming here and expecting everyone to talk to them in plain English. I'll get me coat... * that'll be pretty much everything
  18. Isn't that more Channel 5's area of speciality?
  19. ^ the Sans Vitesse's paint job is nothing new... are they expecting trouble? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HMS_Argus_(1917).jpg
  20. Ghostie has a shellsuit? The world is even stranger than I imagined.
