So apparently she's Brazilian... No Smirk cartoon on the subject, a missed opportunity but I expect he couldn't think of anything that would get past the Editor Coming to think of it, the only escorts I've ever seen up here were on the road to Sullom Voe carrying a sign saying "Wide Load".

Soon we'll be able to create our food on a 3D printer in the kitchen, so there will be no need for farmers & fishermen. Googlefish, anyone?

That's nothing. I once knew a talking warthog, but I'm divorced now.

Mostl likely a Tornado or Typhoon. Don't think the RAF have got their hands on an F-35 yet (which I see have just been allowed back in the air).

JustMe, I've been quite bemused by your "cutting my nose off to spite my face" attitude to the online booking. So much so that I just called Mareel and asked about your situation. They said that it is actually BEST to book by phone (or in person, but that won't apply to you unless you happen to be in town at the time) as not only can payment issues be dealt with by a real person, but you also get to choose the seat - which online is allocated by the system. I am sure that if there were a major problem with your card even then, that they would put the tickets aside so that you could pay in cash on arrival.

Neither sentences make sense. At least not in my mother tongue... Apart from implying that a female NHS manager is male or even that Stug IS the manager, are you suggesting by making this statement here that your alleged abuse took place on the streets of Lerwick in full view of the cctv? If not, that part of your post appears somewhat off-topic.

Probably the result of clicking on too many spam links

Unlikely, as this is covered by "fornicators" - a person who has sex with someone they are not married to. From the latin fornix, a vaulted chamber, later brothel. So that covers pre-marital sex even for those who go on to marry and never stray! The strictest interpretation of the "instructions" are that sex is purely for procreation. So bad luck anyone who is infertile (on a side note, a female friend was told by her priest that after a year of marriage she was a "failed Catholic" for not having become pregnant!) As for Christians and christians... in my experience the former are incapable of being the latter.

Practical Driving Test - how many times?
Hector's House replied to khitajrah's topic in Anything & Everything Else
You'd be amazed at the number of drivers who have no idea what the lights on their dashboard mean. Add to that the number who never even look at their instruments or what is going on around them and you realise how incredibly low the crash rate is! -
The ones that offer to "fix" your computer are! And yes yes, it's all very touchy-feely to point out the Health & Safety spin on my "whistleblower" suggestion (which was tongue-in-cheek - anyone with half a brain will realise that targetting the callers isn't right as they probably believe they are working for a legit company)... but asking nicely to be taken off their database isn't likely to work. Any suggestions?

That will be an automated calling system, dials dozens of numbers at the same time & allocates any answered ones to available operators - if none are free you just get the silence. It has been outlawed (I think) in the UK but our laws don't matter a jot to anyone else.Perhaps David Cameron should be addressing this issue while on his jolly to India? Unfortunately it takes weeks of unanswered calls to get the software to put you into the "probably not going to fall for it" pile.
-
presumably you have caller ID, so why not just leave them unanswered, or let them go to ansafone? A more satisfying act is ask them to hold, and put the handset in front of a radio for a minute... and if you're really narked with them, blow a whistle down the line - that should create some aversion to calling you back! Of course, if you have the time and are feeling devilish, engage them in a lengthy & pointless discussion about how to put their software onto your BBC 'B' computer ("can you send it to me on a cassette?") On a slightly different level, aren't most of these calls to BTinternet customers, and from Indian accented people? If so, it's not a great leap to link the calls to the call centre staff...
-
Are they the same as known unknowns? Or would that be Iknowns? All this "I'm leaving" carry-on is like saying goodnight to the von Trapp children...

The odd thing is that Plusnet are actually owned by BT! But then BT have always been rather canny business-wise. Owning the "best" competition is farily smart, as long as you don't get greedy... though I suspect that as long as there are the likes of TalkTalk & Tiscali they don't have much to worry about!

These people may be able to assist... http://www.shetlandastrosoc.org.uk/ Here's hoping for clear skies tonight for the asteroid flyby. For anyone who is suspicious of the coincidental meteor in Siberia earlier, I also have some excellent tin foil you can have to make a protective hat out of

Unless you're going to dump a phoneline-based service & go with satellite, it's all much of a muchness really, the main difference being with the quality of the "help" lines. I've been with Force9 (now Plusnet) since dialup days, and generally happy with what leverage they have with BT to get problems sorted. Oh, and they all speak decent English Don't forget that most issues are outside the individual ISP's remit, and are only able to access whatever (mis)information BT supply them with - or just make up their own excuse. Plusnet's help lines are on a freefone number (maybe some others do too?), so considering the frequency of issues up here, you may want to factor that into any costings.

Such as? You want a dual cable run to your property, "just in case"? Or maybe the Hydro should provide you with a generator? Just perhaps, the repair crew decided that attending a pole fire was unwise during such blustery weather last night. My understanding is that the fire was most likely to be a pole-mounted transformer, not the pole itself.

So at last a way of settling my conscience over the amount of roadkill I generate every year - and save a fortune on modern "green" treatments
