Do any of the anti Facebook groups have a constructive purpose? Are they taking any positive actions (beyond petitions and demanding work be stopped)?
The handful of groups I've seen or been invited to seem to be (I say this with respect and empathy) collective handwringing support groups for people who genuinely believe Shetland is being destroyed. There doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement that there could be any kind of positive side to the windfarm.
I expect membership of the anti groups would further compound those ideas and biases and serve to collectively increase the anxiety levels of the group members.

I'd recommend The Handmaid's Tale, but it's not exactly family friendly. (Unless you have a very dysfunctional family, I suppose.)

Just finished The Queen's Gambit here and was as pleasantly surprised at how good it was. This, from the man who put off watching War Horse for years because how good can a movie be about a horse (sorry Francis!) but was equally pleasantly surprised.
"Us" and "Life" are both on iPlayer I think and we're pretty good.
Our absolute favourite thing on the box just now is "This is us" on Amazon if I mind right. Really well done and doesn't always follow the path you expect.
We watched 2 recent Netflix Bruce Willis movies... utter tragedies the pair of them. And not in a good way either.

Cobra Kai on Netflix was good for a bit of light hearted viewing, it's a fictional tv series follow up to the Karate Kid films but set 30 years later, the main characters have the same actors.
The series has flashbacks to the films for those who haven't seen them, viewing the original films is not necessary for the younger generation or those who find 80's cheese flicks intolerable.
Agree 100% with the Queens Gambit btw, I never thought a series about chess would get me hooked.

To be honest the forum section of Shetlink has been dying on it's backside for years. Lack of new and vocal contributors is part of the issue. When you see the same people dominating the conversation all the time you get bored with a place. Shetlink needs more people, Christ knows how you bring them in or bring old users back.

If you don't like what Nullvoid has to say then you have two options. Firstly just don't respond to them and if that doesn't work for you then use the block function. Everyone has a right to an opinion but in some people you'll just never agree and there is nothing they can say or you can say to change each others mind. IRL you just wouldn't go near each other, can do the same here.

I wonder how many folk do not post here is case NulVoid decides to crap on everything by responding with the usuan barrage of garbage ?

In fairness, there may just be one or two points of interest buried in there somewhere, but fom my own personal position, I prefer to skip his/her/it's entire post.  Once, that is, after I have managed to scroll past a series of awful graphics.
NB;  Pretty pictures do not prove anything.  Try reasoned argument instead. If I wanted to see pictures, I would buy The Beano...

No really, at first you're legally an asylum seeker until your application for refugee status is processed. If you're successful den you can work, claim benefits, have an NI number etc but you're still no a citizen, and you could have refugee status revoked if da government decide you no longer fit da refugee criteria (if da country you fled fae isna a risk onymare fur example).

You need to apply for citizenship separately.

The problem is, who’s ‘say’ wins out when there are strong opinions on both sides?

I’m on the opposing side but the notion that folk haven’t had a chance to say their bit is nonsense.

Objections were made, the decision-makers disagreed with them and one side lost out - they were never going to be able to please everybody.
