  1. I fully intend to! Sorry, I thought you asked if you should call them in your previous post! ] Cheers
  2. Why don't you just call them first thing in the morning, might save a bit of dissapointment! Cheers
  3. I'm looking to purchase the above but not sure what would be good! I'm looking to spend £100 -£120 nothing to fancy as it will just be for taking fun pictures now and again rather than carrying around a DSLR! I'll head down to The Camera Centre shortly but just want a head start if their are any experts out there. Cheers
  4. You're quite right, thats the kind of establishment Lerwick is crying out for and I totally agree with you but I can't see it happen because of limitations with premises and the economic downturn at the moment. Cheers you never know , there will likely be a reasonable bar in mareel if its open like a pub or not i dunno You could be right but I think if that was the case the novelty will wear of quickly and I just don't think they'll run it like a pub as in normal pub hours but then thats maybe the kind of thing that would work! Cheers

  6. You dont go unless you have someone watching your back Kind of like the Thule Bar It's a bit like that yeah! Seems to be the place to come to slag off anything to do with this Island and not have to justify your thoughts to the people/places you're havin a go at! Cheers
  7. where did you go? just oot o curiosity. Whats the point of naming and shaming when you can come on to good old Shetlink and slag everyone/thing of rotten? Why did you not complain to the bar manager at the time or even find out who the owners are and give them a call? I have frequented most of the pubs in the town and outside and although 2 or 3 are a bloody disgrace you can't tar everyone with the same bloody brush!! I know there's a need for a fresher pub scene in the town but at the end of the day we're in a recession(spelling), so who is going to spend the money on a building fit for the job and where exactly would this building be? The Noost and the Thule off the top of my head are the worst for cleanliness(talking toilets here by the way) but can't say there's much wrong with the Legion, Marlix, Da Wheel, The Grand(Posers not included) and the Lounge or even the Queens come to think of it. Maybe it's just me but when I go out on the piss I don't expect pub toilets to be smelling of roses at 7pm nevermind any later and as someone else said if everyone could piss where they're meant to then there would be no problem! What is it with Shetlink and toilets at the moment? Cheers
  8. I assume you went to B&Q. Where the answer to the same question is, "The appliances are included free, so we can't give a price breakdown" Which actually means, "We have loaded the price of the kitchen units to cover the cost of the appliances". And if you did go to B&Q, God help you. No not quite B & Q. Went into Buildbase and got exactly what I asked for, a breakdown in price which was all I wanted in the first place. Kitchen came from there and appliances elsewhere in the town. I wasn't shopping for myself but for someone else who isn't as confident when trying to 'barter'.
  9. They quoted me and at least 2 other couples I know for a kitchen including appliances but wouldn't give a breakdown of costs between the units and appliances when asked. I wanted to get appliances from elsewhere so obviously I wanted to compare prices. I couldn't understand what the problem was so I ended up going elsewhere! Cheers
  10. Well how clean do you expect a public toilet to be Dave? As I said who expects to eat their dinner of a toilet seat in a public toilet, I certainly don't. The cleaners in the Toll Clock work bloody hard and do their level best to keep them in a decent state. I don't know them personally but it pisses me off when a totally unsubstantiated remark like the one above gets made. I've been in and out of that toilets more times than I've had hot denners over the last 10-15 years and have never for the life of me thought to post something like that on this forum, whats wrong we folk? Anyway thats my rant over, hope santa's good to you all! Cheers
  11. Totally agree here, waste of money and hopefully he'll give the NOW the two fingers they deserve. Who gives a turd anyway! Just the NOW stalking him for a story to sell their bloody paper, shocking! Cheers
  12. The ones in Bolts aren't much to write home about either. sausage all wrong with the toilets in Bolts! I'm in the Skipidock most days having dinner and regularly use the toilet to wash my hands before eating, clean enough for me. I don'r expect it to be a palace but as someone above said its more to do with the people who use them that can't clean up after them!! Cheers
  13. Spoke to someone just now whose travelled in from Walls in a transit van at 7.30am and he says 'no problems at all'! Cheers
  14. Be careful when you get a quote for a kitchen, make sure if they're giving you a quote for supplying a kitchen and appliances that they individually price each item so you know exactly what you're getting and at what cost. They wouldn't do this for me so I went to Buildbase instead and got everything priced the way I wanted and it was just over 2 grand less for an equivalent 'Chippendale' kitchen. Saying that the bedstore is great with some good deals and helpful chaps working there and the same with the woodstore and the tool store!
  15. Why not try one of your local electrical, DIY or building firms/shops to see if they have anything that could help? Not to sure how good a battery operated dehumidifier would be. Is the condensation just there in the morning and is any other rooms affected? Cheers

Christ if your so desperate for a parcel what does it take to drive 10 minutes to check if your parcel is there or not? Bloody hell it's not like this happens all the time at least they are doing their best to help you get your parcels a bit quicker! You would be bloody moaning if you were still wating 2 weeks from now for a parcel, give them a bloody break! Rant over!
  17. Seven League Titles and an Island games(2005 - it was Delting what won it) surely had him down as the best manager in the County. What a load o pish! It's just as easy to say Whalsay and Ness/Thistle/Somewhere south o Shetland(can't remember who Duncan Bray played for at the time) won the island games. Team effort I think as most logical people would agree! Cheers
  18. ^^^ If you dunna feel confident drivin then leave da young wan at hom! Am sure a day aff al no hurt!
  19. I phoned Jims Garage about a year ago and they were definently over £40 + VAT p/h!
  20. This thread is only going to go one way! Cheers ps To the OP some shops will be affected by them negatively, 2, straight of would be Clives and World Tastes as has been documented here and in the local paper already. Some will have no affect at all! Just my thoughts. Cheers
  21. Where in Shetland do you reside? That may help us to find more within your community. Welcome!
  22. Mckay & Sincliar, he specializes in doing renovations and extensions to old houses and he's competitive too! Cheers
  23. I did the same. What happens is if you say you want to cancel the firt operator will say okay then put you through to what they say is the cancelation department hoping you'll suddenly change your mind, I think thats whats happenend to you. Onto the 2nd operator they will go through all the same jargon and then try to make you change your mind, they may even make you a better deal if you are persistant in cancelling. Then they'll will put you onto the person that can authorise your cancellation but they'll try to get you to stay with them by offering you a good deal on an upgrade or even a new box. Thats the way they operate and I've done this for myself and a couple of friends which seems to work. At the end of the day if you've been a existing customer for 10 years why shouldn't you get a discounted Sky + or HD box when yours fails? They're quick enough to give new customers this service at little or no cost apart from the subscriptions that is! Try them again, you'll be surprised. Cheers
  24. You're right Pooks this is getting nowhere, sorry for the Hijack JAS but I think the point is have a look local first as they seem to be quite competitive nowadays. Might be that you can get what you want cheaper of the net but the gap is narrowing now as has been pointed out. Let us know how you get on! Cheers
