They are all guilty! Happy New Year

I have given Santy a similar camera to give to my Baglady. She will be doing an Open University course on photography. The next course begins in May. Failing that there are many good books on Amazon, many of which are model specific.

I wasn't really interested in these, but after reading this thread I've just gone and ordered one. Thanks! I think?

Been a good weekend so far. Up before daylight, tv on and a fridge full of beer Strange look from the postie at 9am yesterday, she probably though it was an Up helly aa training session! Pleasing to see how the 'non-runners' are improving. USA certainly seem to be getting better defensively. Jittery start for Scotland and England tho. Probably just nerves. Wish the commentators would button it a bit. "What was he playing at? He should have passed the ball to the right" etc. The players are in the thick of it and don't have the bonus of a birds eye view, no matter how professional they are.

The sky at night (meteors, Iridium flares, the moon)
Apehanger replied to Colin's topic in Science & Technology
If it was a satellite it could have been amateur satellite DO-64 (approx 23:15) or Envistat (approx 23:25) The moon would have reflected off either quite well. -

Probably a satellite. What time did you see it? -

I have to agree with 'unlinkedstudent' and 'ewenutz'. I've found it a lot quicker and easier to reformat and reinstall windoze on friends computers in the past - also gets rid of all those redundant DLLs, and helps shorten bootup time. However I prefer to promote the use of Linux, even my 6 year old daughter has no trouble using it. BTW, what IS a virus? Malware? Seems so long ago since I was last bothered about such things http://www.linuxmint.com/

WOW! Thanks for that link. Brought back some memories of my first taste of Shetland. I did my 18 months there between 1981 and 1982, as a Radar Technician. Actually my first night on the Island was spent in the Guardroom cell - but that's another story

I'm with Virgin (cable) down here, no download limit. I've checked their site and it appears I can get unlimited through them - via a normal phone line obviously. £25 for 10Mb service

Just checked the Eclipse site and for £12:67 you get a maximum 10Gb per month, £22:46 gives you 50Gb

Oh yes, forgot to mention, One of the vessels I work on, The Kommandor Stuart, often docks in Lerwick. If it is there you will probably find me in Captain Flints. Call in, introduce yourself and I will be pleased to buy you a drink.
