Ok I did think that England would win but I wasn't serious about T&T going through! Scotland didn't even appear to the best of my knowledge. England will most likely go out in the 1/4s as usual. However, I wouldn't underestimate the lads from Ecuador
  2. I have had exactly the same thing. I forget the name as well. It was totally disgusting.

Going to kinda jump back to the England fotoballing side in general now. What must Michael Carrick be thinking? Left out in favour of Owen Hargreaves - dear me. He really has never shown an promise in and England shirt whatsoever. Carrick has had a fantastic season at Tottenham and is playing second fiddle to this clown. Poor lad. I feel sorry for him. I think England will win tonight and dump Sweden out of the competition. T&T will scrape a last minute goal. Jason Scotland to make his first appearance and score!

I wouldn't worry people. I think we can see from the T&T game that England are going nowhere fast. I am more than content to soak up the hype, safe in the knowledge that there is no way they are going to progress far in this tournament.
  5. To be fair, he's never said he is actively not supporting England. All he's said is he's going to support the teams that have Scottish-based players in it. Problem is the English media have taken this as being anti-English. What he should've said was he'd be supporting the teams that play good football... which would obviously imply NOT England

What about England eh? How daft is Eriksson? I dare say I could do a better job. What is he thinking employing Crouch as a lone striker in the 2nd half? All that is going to do is encourage the defense to press and Crouch is never going to get behind any defense. He should've put on Carrick for Owen if he was tired. He then could've pushed Gerrard into a free role. Instead he put on Owen Hargreaves who quite frankly, makes me look world class.

I think maybe we'll find out after the tournament but it won't come from United's end. No way. We might get an official statement from the England medical team but I reckon what's happened is this: United have given the media a worst case scenario for Rooney. I don't think that was a bad move at all. They also have to protect a 27million quid investment and one of the brightest young players in the world. Obviously United want to keep their star player fit for the start of the season and also do not want to risk a long term injury. England don't care. In my eyes, without Rooney, they don't have the 'special' player that can win them the WC. They have a very strong team but when Peter Crouch is one of your players, when the chips are down, who's gonna pull your team out? Not him. Sven is leaving and regardless of what happens, there will be no consequences for him. He has actually shown some balls by coming out and saying he's gonna do what he and Rooney wants, regardless of Ferguson. First time in 5 years he's shown any kind of passion/backbone. Personally, I think the injury was not that bad (perhaps a 5 week healing period, instead of the said . The oxygen chamber work may havehelped and there is something to be said for the powers of positive healing. He is also only 20 so his body will recover faster. It's difficult to tell though. One thing I'm sure of is that United made the injury out to be worse than it was - hence why the FA brought in the England medical team to monitor the situation.

  10. I can't remember the last time somebody sent a door to door salesperson to my gaff. On the door to door 'spread the word' religious types, last time it happened to me it was two rather pleasant lasses. I say we should see more of this. Really though - door to door isn't really a problem. Not in Lerwick anyway. I do think there is a need for a "no doorstep drunk neighbour zone" however.
  11. I think we're set for a very few good week of ol' Neighbours. Paul's evil spawn looks set to rule Erinsborough with an iron fist. Hopefully he will beat Robbo to near death with his prostetic leg.. only for Paul to return as a half man, half machine type Terminator - hell bent on revenge.

Well why not just turn off Sky Sports News and don't read the tabloid pap? It's the media you don't like... not the team itself - by your own admission. I'm not gonna support England, simply because I don't really care for their style of football - unless ROOON-AY! gets fit. Then I'll support them because that boy is a class act and is one of the most exciting players in the world to watch. I'll also be supporting Brazil & Portugal and for my underdog team, T&T because of Scotland!
  13. Agreed. No, seriously though. I'm not having a pop at Shetland's facilities. In large, they are very good. However, I think it's a combination of lack of variety/accessibility/culture. Here's an example of the culture problem and I know this has all happened to you. Here, if someone asks you if you were "out" at the weekend - this automatically means that you were on the skite. Why is that? It's obviously bourne out of the fact that if you were out of the house at the weekend, the natural place would be the pub. There is also Up Helly Aa/Folk Festival which although they both have their merits are massive piss ups. I also remember, and still do to this day, that if I didn't go on the piss at the weekend, I would get a fairly good slating from me mates for being unsociable and a "loser" . That's one of the biggest problems for the kids at the moment - they're under severe peer pressure to get into this way of life. I have also found myself in situations at the weekends, not really wanting to go out but because everyone else is out, I get bored and wouldn't mind some social interaction so I end up, out of boredom, going. Seriously though - what else is there to do? I am heavily involved in football during the week and also I like to go to the gym 3-4 times a week - but what do I do during the weekend? In my opinion, I have two options, go down to Bolts and get a DVD, or go out. It's the problem that SO many people go out, there is nowt to do but something by myself which can get a little tiresome. I am happy that it seems the CMV is going ahead - that would be a fairly good alternative that you could socially interact with people who aren't there to get blootered. I have been, and sometimes still are, a pisshead to the highest degree - however, I don't understand how some people in Shetland don't get tired of it. I think everyone goes through a stage when you want to go out most weekends and get fairly drunk but for me, I've found myself doing it because of a lack of alternative rather than actively enjoying it. I also don't get the people who get hammered every weekend to the stage where they actually can't speak. I've seen them, they just sit there. The next day they speak of having some "quality banter". Eh? I'm sure Shetland is not alone in this. I know for a fact that many rural areas in the north of Scotland are similar in their culture. However, I think less so as for them, there is the affordable option of going to see a movie, a gig, a concert or going to visit friends they can't see that often.
  14. The younger generation of Shetlanders - 12 (yes 12!) - around 25/30ish do seem to have the whole "get totally plastered at the weekend" thing down to a fine art. I think it's simply because there isn't enough to do. Also, drink is now cheaper, easier to get hold of and targetted at the younger generation. Nobody should be worried if they get blootered every now and then but it's the every week occurence that is severely worrying. This is possibly across the whole of the UK but I think remote areas particularly suffer from binge drinking.
  15. Sorry JustMe, I'm just saying that in cases like flying to Aberdeen where the fare is relatively low, it's the tax that gets you. I wish it was just a 40% discount off the combined price. I'd be alot happier. Here's a thing - I've tried about a million times trying to book online at BA and can't get in (I did once - about a week ago) - anyone else having the same problem?

Wheesht, You know what would make sense? Having played in the Fife Amateur League (probably more organised than up here). They created a website which you could submit match reports to. Obviously, one member from each team would be responsible for this. This would save issues to do with sharing information.... The Times could get at it along with everyone else - no need for sending e-mails around. It's not exactly a hard thing to do either.. You would obviously have the score, scorers, MoM perhaps and the actual report. Then you could generate the league tables from that.... It amazes me there is no such thing for Shetland footy.
  17. hellsbells, Did you book it through BA.com? I do seem to remember the same thing happening to me. For some reason, one-way trips seem to cost pretty much exactly the same as returns. I have no idea why this is. In regards to student seats - yes, they get taken very fast indeed BUT why not just claim it back off SAAS? As long as you can show you purchased the ticket, you'll get it refunded. You're actually wrong about booking well in advance. The discount actually favours last minute bookers, relatively anyway. You get the discount off the fare, not the tax. So the later you leave it, the bigger the discount. At the moment, I think they cheapest booking to Aberdeen return is £74 - you only save about £24. Another thing I noticed - and I'm sure many of you have had this. Now, in my opinion, there is almost no point in flying to Aberdeen unless you are indeed going to Aberdeen or very nearby. Why? The cheapest fares to Aberdeen seem now to be leaving a 8pm, and returning at 6am. Now I would think one would be hard pushed to make it from anywhere in Scotland to get to Aberdeen airport by around 5am. Chances are you will have to stay the night - incurring hotel costs perhaps. The rest of the fares are more expensive... however, Edinburgh airport seem to favour the first flight out and the last one back - which by all accounts if far more convenient for us Shetlanders. I think that flight, if you book around a week in advance being about £104. I certainly will be going to Edinburgh alot more... plus, it's alot less depressing and grey than Aberdeen.. Just a thought.
  18. Agreed, my PSU decided to go on fire recently... cue flames and the most god-awful stink in the world. Managed to extinguish the blazing inferno and replace it with a better PSU. That's what I get for buying a PC off eBay. However, I must admit, it's the 3rd outta all my 3 PCs that have failed.. all in Shetland... v strange. Maybe I should try buying better quality PSUs.
  19. Agreed totally... perhaps the boat would be a little more bearable if there was internet access. Maybe some prefer looking at the wall in those reclining seats... after all, it is pretty fun

    FOOTBALL BROTHERS

HAHAHAHAHA - quality! I can totally imagine the flea doing that
  21. I'm not entirely sure of that - i just think the video footage is entirely inconclusive. In terms of the other factors, I'm fairly with you JAStewart. For me when I saw it happening - it all looked a little too unbelievable, almost scripted... I'll believe that until I see evidence that proves otherwise.
  22. (** MOD EDIT **) I didn't know the guy at all but it's good that youtube.com is a great way to share video tributes like that.
  23. Apparently one time ol' Alex literally took the meaning "Chinese Takeaway" waaaay too literally.. then Katja happened. Zeik is a little pleb. He would do well to be mauled by a recently raised-from-the-dead Bouncer.. or Helen Daniels. Fair play to Karl - he's def. in need of some lumber. Suzie K is such a tease, fluttering her eyelids faster than a hummingbird's wings. I admit, he could do alot better than that hussy. I personally think he should go for Janae - that would def. put the cat amongst the pigeons - not to mention, he was always her first choice. I've never rated Izzy, although I also think Sky is beginning to look a little too chubby for my liking. No wonder Dylan's gaze is wandering to fairer shores (Elle). Paul could do with bumping Ned off... he's a waste of space country boy, not to mention - his singing really annoyed me.
  24. I know that's sarcasm but mate, she's got a face like a bulldog chewing nettles...
  25. The two most viewed clips of Pentagon released footage are 3 min 12 secs and 3 mins 22 secs respectively. What "rest" are you wanting, more of the nothingness before the fact, or to watch the bonfire burn that bit longer? I just watched the two clips you talk of. I can't see anything there that resembles a plane - can you? It's hardly conclusive proof that it was an aircraft. I did get the video I saw from a different source and it was only 3 secs long - my mistake. It was just an exert from the 1st video however. There is no doubt that something hits the pentagon but I seriously don't think it's a plane - what evidence suggests it's a Boeing? Oh yeah - I forgot, it was all obliterated in the explosion right? Given the pentagon's security measure, surely you think that somehow a camera has captured the "plane" arriving? All footage they've released is totally inconclusive... until I see a plane hitting that place, I'm not convinced - based on the following reasons: Lack of conclusive video evidence Lack of witness accounts of actually seeing a plane Lack of Boeing debris in/around the impact point
