I'm certainly no expert. However, I recall reading somewhere that teuchters - that is to say rural dwellers - tend to be rather reactionary.

I'm certainly no expert. However, from what little research I have conducted teuchters, by which I mean rural dwellers, tend to more right wing than Genghis Khan!
As the constituency I live in is a SNP/Tory marginal it did cross my mind to tactically vote SNP. However, I thought better of it. I'm just going to vote Labour.
If the discourse focused on bread and butter issues rather than constitutional matters such as Brexit and Scottish independence I think Labour could have won.

Looks like it's a two horse race between the yellow tories(Lib Dems) and tartan tories(SNP). Not being any variety of Tory I'm therefore indifferent with regard to the eventual outcome of this by-election.
