  1. That is often quoted but not strictly true. I believe you have to work towards joining the Euro...
  2. Yes, but it was made clear by several member countries and acknowledged by Alex Salmond himself that this would be unlikely to succeed. However, whether Scotland rejoined or not, anyone who voted yes to Scottish Independence was voting to leave the EU. So, unless they have changed their mind about scottish independence, must have voted leave. Just asking again have you got any citations? I am not aware of any EU countries expressly saying that Scotland could not join the EU.

  4. I personally think President Trump has dementia or something like that.
  5. Anyone from Europe working in the UK just now is taking a pay cut just now due to the value of the pound to the euro. Could be that is why there are fewer migrants at the moment and not so much to do with Brexit. Some of our own young ones do not want to get their hands dirty, all they want is a job sitting on there a**e paying good money and a mobile phone, shame we have to get others to do the mediocre jobs.. They aren't taking a pay cut if they have settled here. I think the tone of the comments from our media and politicians have a lot to do with the drop in EU migration.
  6. Most of the fish we catch is exported to the EU and most of the fish we consume is imported. Why would the EU allow us to export to their market if we won't allow them access to our waters?
  7. Would it not have been a lot better if we had told Brussels that we were dumping them - from the outset? Would there then be any need for Article 50? Better for who? Better for us, who cares about them? After all, I understand they've done nothing more than strip us blind. I think you have a poor understanding of the situation.
  8. Can just rescind article 50 and keep the same terms.
  9. Must have been really excited to see that bird!
  10. Not hard to get better informed on the withdrawal agreement https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46237012 I don't think the Dutch are wailing, they just have legitimate concerns. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-46361999
  11. Hmm sounds like a fishy excuse! Sue they the company were just hoping you wouldn't check?
  12. Is that not for a second class small parcel? I don't find it that hard to use to be honest. The business rates aren't quoted on the site.

  14. I have had a few smaller grocery items delivered and came Royal Mail. There is a couple on Fetlar who used to regularly get stuff delivered Not sure about big stuff though.
  15. Are we allowed to talk about this now? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jun/11/brexit-uk-fishermen-fishing-industry-quotas-uk-government The guardian I know but a very interesting POV.
  16. Is this not just the public consultation? Sorry I don't have access to this weeks paper so can't check.
  17. Or just park in one many free parking spaces near the street.
  18. It does highlight the value of fish (presumably) caught in OUR waters. I suppose that, without Marine Scotland, there would be a free for all. Pretty big assumption that the fish was caught in UK waters. Ellingsoy is pretty far North up near Alesund so surely more likely that they were fishing in the Norwegian sea?? There is a difference between "assume" and "presume". That's why I put "presumably" in brackets. Apologies I did mean to type presume.
  19. Well somebody brought the EU into the discussion, not sure on the relevance of that and you liked it.
  20. The possible impact to fishing of a hard Brexit https://www.wur.nl/upload_mm/6/3/7/f745b912-2409-4184-ac19-dbd71d019edd_Brexit%20MAGNET.pdf
  21. This is interesting (and good on them!) but I am not sure what the relevance is to the discussion around Marine Scotland's enforcement methods? Not relevant at all.. BUT It does highlight the value of fish (presumably) caught in OUR waters. I suppose that, without Marine Scotland, there would be a free for all. Maybe highlighting the issue will go some way towards re-dressing any imbalance in boardings. I wonder if they board so many Scottish inshore vessels because they know that they (largely) play by the rules and don't really want to cause a row by boarding to many "johnny foreigner" types. Pretty big assumption that the fish was caught in UK waters. Ellingsoy is pretty far North up near Alesund so surely more likely that they were fishing in the Norwegian sea??

  23. Wow that really is pitiful! I don't agree with you then I must be very young. Well old wise one instead of deflecting why don't you try answering a question or address some of the points I have raised about your comments? The world has moved on old wise one, not all off us are stuck in the 70s.
