  1. When I have sold something I have made a small donation to Shetlink. It is only fair..
  2. Had lunch in Busta House again last week. Can't praise it enough really good food and reasonably priced. I just wish they would do more with the outside of the building. They have a amazing sheltered sun trap at the main door. Why not put a couple of tables there? Also had lunch in the French place. The food was nice although the service seemed a bit chaotic. Downside is that the wife hated the coffee and you couldn't get just a plain cup of tea. Will definitely be back though. Was also in Teamore and although I hate those thin chips served in silly baskets the fish was actually really nice. Although a much smaller portion than the Fort. Will be trying the Dowry a few times when I get home.
  3. Not a great supporter of the police by any means but it looks like a sensible precaution to take. To have the training and the tasers available. But if used illegally I would expect to see prosecutions.
  4. Where does the cart pick your bins up from at the moment?
  5. Really how many Jam jars and plastic bottles did you see at the auction?
  6. All the utilities and organisations ran from Dubai, China and USA is that because of the EU as well?
  7. I think that was the diverted Scatsta flight.
  8. I wasn't talking to you Brochbuilder. I was referring to the joke that has since been deleted.
  9. Bolts rents campervans. Could fly up and have it waiting at Sumburgh.
  10. Nothing yet. https://www.transport.gov.scot/news/northern-isles-ferry-fares-cut/
  11. I got a cracking steak at the holiday in a few years ago, I thought the menu looked OK.
  12. The irony of this post makes my eyes burn!
  13. Exactly! As I said once they see the evidence and that the witnesses are there. So sounds like the case was pretty strong....
  14. No an outright admission of guilt is exactly what it is. You are normally " briefed" to plead not guilty until your lawyer gets a chance to see the evidence and what witnesses turn up on the day.
  15. "I don't believe anyone is suggesting that the law is wrong. What folk are saying is that this clown ended up with a broken wrist through their own stupidity and repeated refusal to carry out a reasonable and lawful request. Not through a direct malicious action by the barman. Unfortunately the courts have taken a different view." Some people would say that but the truth is that the guy ended up with a broken wrist because he was assaulted. The courts took the only view they could because Mark Toka pled guilty
  16. Just the usual, I think they are good for the money and locally produced so am willing to forgive a little roughness. One example in a pic has a strange offset but the rest look OK. Will check them out when I get home.
  17. They look really good and made in Shetland as well. Not bad for £15
  18. Discuss or not just not sure why it is posted in this section. "Use this section to discuss the Shetlink site"
  19. This is the bit I am talking about George "They are paid to pick up every last piece. They are paid to do the whole lot." "Really, you don't believe that the council do that? I would suggest that they do. They have online a statement telling us that they do. "
  20. I'm sure that works out fine for you, Mikeyboy. Unfortunately, not all of us drive so that is not applicable to all. And remember, when your recycling is picked up, it is picked up at a cost. You pay the council for it now. You haven't always but I don't think that they've mentioned that, can't think why though. I only speak for myself George, saying that have always been happy to run locals stuff to the dump. Sorry George i don't understand your last comment. You have always paid for rubbish uplift in your rates/council tax.
  21. Really, you don't believe that the council do that? I would suggest that they do. They have online a statement telling us that they do. Of course, if you don't agree you could look up their claims regarding what they do with your council tax and who pays for the essy kert to to come around. Can you post a link George I can't find that on the SIC website.
  22. Same in this area (Mossbank) you could rarely get stuff in them. I have hired a skip a few times and it is not too expensive if you are having a clear out. But have a van now and just run the big stuff along with my recycling to the dump when I have too. So will be quite happy to get my recycling picked up.
