Elements of life!!

Well, talk about refurbished. The shop is looking brilliant and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Absolutely delighted shop open again and extremely impressed with the quality of the meat, especially the lamb. I wish them all the best, i'll definately be back. One happy customer.

Great news. Totally agree, great news. Fairly been missing it. I have noticed a lot of movement at the shop this past few days, their seems to be a lot of work going on.

I wouldn't quite call it pest control but I totally agree with everything else that you are saying and Mr Scollay isn't the first and i'm sure he wont be the last to get away with this. I have very little faith in the justice system in Scotland (Shetland especially) but I do feel that more needs to be done in order to protect children from paedophiles and sexual offenders. As for Mr Scollay being allowed to work with children, I think this is an utter disgrace. Whats the point of disclosure Scotland if this is the case!!

When I was away at university (few years ago now) one of my flatmates was Romanian and she used a pointy knife to open tins. Just stuck it in and cut around, I couldn't believe how easy it was. Tin openers are extremely irritating though and its near impossible to find a decent one these days.

I fully agree with you Fifi. I think this whole situation is utterly ridiculous and if Mr Hill had any respect for us Shetlanders he would of given this nonsense up a long time ago!!! And I must say I was completely embarrassed when Martin Clunes visited Forvik and everyone I have spoken too on this is in full agreement with me. This programme was supposed to advertise Shetland to an extent and I thought it made a fool of us. Can I ask something Mr Hill? You keep saying about all these people that are behind you, well where are they as I very little evidence of that on here?

I am delighted to hear that it will be opening again soon as I have to agree that Globe does seem to have put their prices up since the one on the street closed. I'd also like to add that I have had meat from Scalloway also and it was fine but there was a couple of things I bought that had seen better days and it was still within date by a few days. Thats my own personal experience though.

I think the parent has to take some of the responsibility though. I still cant believe a ten year old was on a sunbed though thats just insane. I don't agree that people need to think they are tanned all of the time though as some people go to sunbeds because of skin conditions, in some cases there is nothing better than this and I feel it a bit unfair to tar everyone with the same brush because lets face it, not that much sun usually. Plus people with skin conditions tend to be kind of embarrassed about this and the condition is usually in places that can't be bared in the sun!

Yeah I must say it was my preference especially because of the handiness on the street, parking at Globe is usually a nightmare. Not only that but I tend to be on the street and its just easier to get everything you need from the one place. It was a bit cheaper also yet the meat was exceptionally good. I really do hope it is opening as a butcher's shop again but no one seems to have heard anymore on it, shame really.

This whole passport thing has really infuriated me. I know several people in Shetland that don't have a passport and passports are so expensive too. I think the whole thing is an absolute joke.

Checked out the website and really impressed. I shall be investigating further.

La Roux - In for the kill.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on with the butcher shop on the street? I heard rumours of it opening again as a butcher's but nothing seems to be happening. I often shopped there and have been sorely missing it as one butcher in town is not very handy.
