The new accomadtion vessel at Dales Voe, taken from across the voe at Braewick. It looks like it is lying in the middle of nowhere. I took a turn down to the Dales Voe base later on and there was a group of men standing there looking as if they thought the same!

MuckleJoannie got a reaction from Kavi Ugl in Cruise ship season
A friend of mine spoke to some of them and he told me that they had to be back by 12 noon as the ship sailed at 2pm, hence the exodus at 11.30.

Also in the harbour today was the Norwegian museum ship Nybakk. It's been undertaking a seaborne tour of some of the Ting sites in the UK. Visits included Tynwald in the Isle of Man (the oldest parliament in the world) and Dingwall in the Highlands, where the Ting was found buried under a car park.

The visitors had a ceremony at Law Ting Holm then came to the Scalloway Museum for some talks on the subject. There is more here in this blog. See if you can spot me in the group at Scalloway museum.

I can't say I've ever noticed a smell from Bressay for years. You used to smell it all through the town years ago if the wind was in the wrong direction.

I didn't get much chance to take photos at Scalloway but I got this one of the Mayor of Sund Kommune, his wife and Sund's head of leisure after the ceremony. I was very pleased to see a lot of Norwegians there this year.

17 May is the anniversary of the Norwegian constitution being signed in 1814. This year is specially important to Norwegians since it is the 200th anniversary.

There will be the usual wreath laying at the Shetland Bus memorial in Scalloway at 3pm today.

I'm beginning to think that the Tingwall greenhouses are the biggest white elephant in Shetland. They weren't financially viable when they were first built and there seems to be no possibility of making them work in community ownership.

I found this photo of Parkhall from around 1950 while I was hocking through some old photos. You can see the Taj Mahal on the right.

The one I am thinking of is parked halfway between the Brig of Fitch and the Black Gaet junction. The only time people normally park there is to use the track to walk over the hill. If someone parked there to walk the hills at the weekend then I think it's time to send out a search party.

I just had a listen just now on iPlayer and I don't think it's gaelic Frances. It's at 3:28 approximately if anyone wants to have a listen and see if they recognise it. By the way I suspect the filmed at the AHS at the weekend due to to the remarkable lack of parked cars visible.

Many car radios have a code that needs to be entered when the battery is disconnected to prevent theft. If you have your vehicle handbook it may be noted there, otherwise you need to quote your VIN number to a Mercedes dealer.

Be careful when you enter the code. If you get it wrong 3 times your radio is useless - been there, done that!
