There is a difference between getting a "lie" and getting answers from specific questions. The type and style of question must always be carefully considered. However, it is your council, you have the gift to sort it out by your very presence on the isles. Cllr. Fox has surely had his say! As for subscribing to the newspaper. Well, is it worth it when I could get the truth and unbiased facts here, and, they are still one of the most expensive "local" papers I know of. Especially at £1 per e-copy. Folk then needs to write to the ombudsman. It would be better from one of the residents directly involved I would think. I am sure these people have been written to. You will not be able to see the figures adding up if you have not got them Paul. Are the youngsters taking scheduled flights now instead of the ferry? Corporate Management Team, Chief Executive, SIC Committee, Audit and Standards Committee, Risk Management Board, Internal Audit, Risk Management Section.and then Audit Scotland and Public Sector Inspectorates. Unfortunately, it is a very local issue, though its magnitude may feel high at a local level. I am sure folk are meeting across the isles who are in similar situations to formulate a stratergy that involves the facts and the delivery of them.

It may be correct, but a little lacking in its detail. As for the SIC not knowing the cost of things, they have to know that, otherwise the auditers of monies will be involved. You also hate everything (it appears) about the SIC, and think they are continual failures (it appears). Again, ask them to clarify, then you would have something to work with apart from appearances.

Your opinion is that they are offering too much. It is a reasonable wage for a skilled job with such responsibilities, they will be responsible for the Health (or Elf in your case (Too much Daily Fail in your life me thinks)) and Safety of other members of the team. Knowing several SIA trained folk, they deserve that level of pay, if they have those extended responsibilities. Your point, as demonstrated on this thread is to rubbish the Shetland Arts and the Mareel. Where does it say that they will be training to SIA levels? They can use their knowledge and skills they have to instruct members of the team in safety in a public place, it is part of their responsibilities. As you know, the employer can create their own training for staff if it is risk assessed and it proves to reduce the final scores acording to the matrix. It happens EVERYWHERE. You appear to know little of the duties if a SIA and the need to have them in such establishments. It would be cost effective to have your own that to use an agency. It is a fair wage. Especially as the work is casual.

It seems then to avoid the problems, you need to employ trained staff.

That is a reasonable wage for the responsibilities. This will be a qualified operative with duties to train as well as prevent trouble. WTH is your problem with that?

Any complaints about the changes in bus time tables?
shetlandpeat replied to windhoose85's topic in Shetland News
The trouble is, there will be plenty of folk to ask, I have never had to look at a bus time table when I am in Shetland, just ask folk. The tourist office will supply info, there will be info at the ferry port and airport, many folk are not that bad when they want to look up the odd time, I am sure they will get the hang of it. Thistle Court, Place, I am sure you will put them right, and with a positive disposition as well. It is so so so bad. Perhaps if there is a Yes, and nothing politically changes, you may be off... I am puzzled by the "visiting tourists" though. Do some stay and be resident tourists...? -
Too many conspirators. Now, you trying to dictate movement of Labour? On balance, looking at the info I have found, the No crew have the swing at the moment. The more the SNP are involved, the more it will edge to NO. Folk cannot see past the personalities, can you?

For the English, a Yes vote would be catastrophic. The national Labour Party and the national Cooperative Party would never be able to win a democratic election and Govern, this void would leave the Right wing and facists to fight amongst themselves to claim England and Wales. So while some may wish this to be the case, it will certainly change the country. Which, Scotland will still need to have links with. It is an interesting senario, the rise of England First, their parent the BNP, UKIP and the Tories. This could lead to a mass exodus, north perhaps. I would imagine that folk could claim Scottish nationality in a similar way they can claim duel nationality now. http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2014/8/13/1407959421633/Ben-Jennings-14.08.14-014.jpg

Two capitals and an airport. -
How would you balance business tax and personal tax? I was quite happy thinking that folk should all be taxed say at 40% and not pay anymore tax. That will probably not work in todays me me me society. How would big business pay if they were not going to be burdened with tax. If current levels are a burden, then you could suggest lowering the tax rates for business. It will certainly benefit the oil industry as I am sure they are skint. Tax is a good way to control some activities, if you reduce the tax on the whole, you could end up with less economical production methods in place, that is, higher polution levels, cars kept on the road longer and so on. You will need some money however to look after the aging population and the sick. These are on the up. The system will basically replicate what is already in place. this will probably remain until the country can reform all it thinks it has to. It could be the start of something wonderful, an utopia. If it works. Though, the right to maximise will always be there...

France may be OK, after all, once were ally to Scotland, LePen may be mightier than the Sword? Allas, there is always revolution after the right turn, unless of course you subjugate the population. I very much doubt that will happen. http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/boysign.gif Hard Left, you need the mix, it will be one of the things you have to weigh up. Remove the hard left and you have those on the hard Right and the rest (just keeping up with the worst case senario for continuity). When, actually, you do not have the Hard Left in any form of control,I also doubt you will. Of course, it is subjective. I would guess that the Independant SIC may be a bench mark? I doubt however that will not go without further comment. We are all at the will of the masses, Vox Populi or even for some Vox Dei. Who let them in?!? Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit

A right wing Scotland, excellent ploy.

That is why I said this as well.... If you are going to support a Yes vote, then how do you see it being done? Still, what ever happens, information will be released that can be challenged. So, in a way, your post does not show any forward thinking, no way to solve such issues has been suggested. Now, if your post had a different tack, then it may have been positive, how can we, rather than the negative spin that is demonstrated? However, this is always so easy to tease from its hole. As shown.

Are you wanting the "new" Scotland to dump social welfare? At the moment, they are well ahead of England when it comes to issues such as supporting those in need or ill. You too are in danger of abbusing the facts, "the dark ages". Sadly, it is what we have come to debate nowadays, the total doom and gloom, worst ever senario and the four horsemen on their way. Latching on to this nipple shows a lack of opportunity to discover more about what you want to create. No thinking, just recitals of others wishes and propaganda.

Sheesh, worn out by clicking the rotate button. I normally scan hard copies I order or pick up into a format that suits me, many from providers are there to be printed. It is easier to do this. Save as a PDF and store on Mobile phone or other device, works well and does not need a signal to view. -
He was a kind and gentle man. It is so very sad that he decided this was a way out for him. "Mork & Mindy: In Mork We Trust (#1.21)" (1979) Orson: The report, Mork. Mork: This week I discovered a terrible disease called loneliness. Orson: Do many people on Earth suffer from this disease? Mork: Oh yes sir, and how they suffer. One man I know suffers so much he has to take a medication called bourbon, even that doesn't help very much because then he can hear paint dry. Orson: Does bed rest help? Mork: No because I've heard that sleeping alone is part of the problem. You see, Orson, loneliness is a disease of the spirit. People who have it think that no one cares about them. Orson: Do you have any idea why? Mork: Yes sir you can count on me. You see, when children are young, they're told not to talk to strangers. When they go to school, they're told not to talk to the person next to them. Finally when they're very old, they're told not to talk to themselves, who's left? Orson: Are you saying Earthlings make each other lonely? Mork: No sir I'm saying just the opposite. They make themeslves lonely, they're so busy looking out for number one that there's not enough room for two. Orson: It's too bad everybody down there can't get together and find a cure. Mork: Here's the paradox sir because if they did get together, they wouldn't need one.
