Not really an issue. Identifying who is in front of a camera is fairly trivial, at least which squad is involved, and that is what matters. 

Flack? Hardly. Not a squeak on the matter from any Guizer at the Mass Meeting, and I haven't spoken with anyone who has any disagreement with any of the sentiments expressed in the Committee's communication. As much of a non-story as it is possible to conceive.

Thats pathetic - if you take on a role of a fireman, you accept responsibility for completing that role to the best of your abilities and no doubt get paid to do so, albeit a retainer.

Even with the strictest regime, bullying will go on. It has been, from my experience very hard to get a result in such cases. Much of the bullying is done one on one, a lack of folk willing to testify is another problem.
I am dealing with a case of this at the moment, it is very upsetting for those who are the victims.

There are groups that can help as well, I found many of my relatives using the Bayanne site going back to 1750s, then someone else here said they have found details going back further to a castaway fiddler on Unst. If you can get the background it can be very exciting.

Pete, first point. Don't ever try to put words into my mouth and twist what I said. You are well known for this and to be honest I see you as nothing more than a troll.
 
Second point. Why do you try to turn everything into an argument. Are you really desperate for attention that negative attention is better than having none.
 
Third point. Is my concern regarded the suggestion that they were being supplied with a skip. I just want to ensure we are all on a fair playing field.
 
Fourth point. They may well be contributing to services, but no one else is getting a free skip, if that is the case.

What a perfect example of pre-judging a minority, accusing them of something with no evidence or reason & then being made to look a moomin when it turns out you couldn't be further from the truth.

I agree, after all your years in deciding about Shetland and its future, it appears, according to these threads, it is constantly wrong. Perhaps it is time for the young to be more engaged, if you ask them, they do not get involved because of the stubbornness of the aulf folk.

When I threatened to go to court over this and let them know that I wasn't bluffing, I have had a couple of phone calls at last from the customer services department. They have agreed to all my requests and will be letting me have an upgrade to the next generation of hearing aids. They have also agreed that, when I get the new hearing aids, I will get a brand-new 5 year warranty with them. They have also agreed that I can have a 2-month period to test the new ones out, whilst initially retaining the old ones, whilst I see if I can get on with them. If I don't get on with new ones, they will come up with an alternative which may well be (which I would like) a brand new pair of the ones that have been so troublesome.
 
This is a happy outcome for me although I will have to make at least a couple of trips to the mainland at my expense but I can't really chase them for reimbursement as it is down to me the fact that I chose to live in Shetland.

It was allsorts, though, the food was shipped around Scotland for a few days before it arrived. Last year, last winter, don't really matter, folk were suckered into something the coop used to do with out the hype. Tesco do not really care until the profits drop. Though some of the very early posts in this thread have come true in a few ways.

It is sad that Tesco is letting folk down, especially after all that money they spent flying in neeps and tatties last year.
 
As a comparison, our local Supermarket supports local producers. After reading what Shetland beer producers had to go through to get their beer stocked locally to production, and Shetland produced meats, I would keep away. I do about half my shop at the supermarket and the rest from farmers markets.
 
Folk should do their best to support local shops and producers all they can, in the long run, it works.

Passengers and vehicles are checked as / when able. The majority of people welcome the dogs and given that the use of "drug dogs" is something we all regulary experience as we travel around the country / world.

Some people are not aware that from 1st January BT are now charging their customers £1.75 a month for the 1571 service and another £1.75 for the visual display of phone nos of incoming calls.  An extra £3.50 a month on your bill, so I've cancelled them from my account - they won't be missed. Maybe the other phone providers are charging the same, I don't know.
 
To cancel the BT increase in charges, ring 0800 707 6044,  this is the number they give to upgrade their services - if you ring the number they give you'll be kept on hold all day.
 
 

Driver aware! Road users in road. You could see something but you did not know what it was until you got too close.
 
The trouble I always have is, really it is the pedestrian or cyclist that generally gets killed or injured regardless of fault. It is quite responsibility to be in control of a vehicle. Now that you are aware that there are pedestrians that use the road, best slow down a bit.
