I would argue that in only a very small minority of cases does the witness need any "privacy" or "protection".
Witensses are "called" (named) in an open court and their testimony is then a matter of public record. Where is the "privacy" or "protection" in that ? After all, the court records what they say, so why shouldn't an individual ?

As long as the Polis and Courts are keeping themselves occupied with his antics they're not bothering the rest of us........
Besides, its something for him to do in his old age, retired folk need hobbies too....I guess.
Free bed and board in one of Her Majesty's finest accomodation establishments for a month, so it ain't all bad.

@NullVoid
I do not know what the figures are for China and India although, I do know that they are greater than ours. That doesn't diminsih any argument.
The bigest polluter of all is the good ole U S of A.
Just what any of this has to do the the CND escapes me though. It's a bit od a "dumb" argument.
Poking fun at Greta doesn'y help you either. The picture example you included only shows the massive imbalance in the use of resources. Guess you must be a "denier" who will not accept any other point of view until global warming has raised sea levels to the point that the water is splashing about your top lip.

What else can you expect from an education system that has been "dumbed down" to let even more "dumb" people in ?

I suppose that the biggest problem with voting is that, no matter who you vote for, the government is likely to get elected. !!!
Seriously, is there "any" political party that truly represents the wishes of the electorate ?
It's time that we had politicians who were not afraid of being "politically incorrect", were not afraid of upsetting "vocal minorities", spent less time "virtue signalling", and started stating bald facts.
I don't support or like violent protest but, we ALL have a right to make our views known AND not just at the ballot box.

SIC is like all forms of "government". Take a sledgehammer and use it to crack a nut. (No pun intended )
I wouldn't advise ignoring the guy as I believe that he may have a valid point to make but, as I have said several times, right idea, wrong man !
As for the "legalities", I wouldn't know where to start but, we all have parents/granparents, et al who fought for the right to (amongst other things) freely express themselves and, we should all be alarmed that these rights are being undermined by unelected "suits" for no apparent proper reason other than "spite".

Hints at a little bit of "dictatorship" there. Junker doesn't intend to "force" anybody but, what about his successors ?

the ability to take on and implement effectively the obligations of membership, including adherence to the aims of political, economic and monetary union."
Clock "monetary union". That means joining the Euro.
Also clock "political and economic". Does this mean that EU intends to (eventually) govern(?) all member "states" and set taxes ?
-
Colin got a reaction from Windwalker in General Election 2019
Capeesh, This is just "waffle" as we all KNOW that Scotland could join the EU. What Scotland CANNOT do at the moment (as others have pointed out repeatedly) is QUALIFY for membership as our economy just doesn't match the standards required.
IMHO, it would take many years of really painful "austerity" just to get Scotland close to qualifying. The SNP might be wanting to have their cake and eat it but, I think that they would choke on the first mouthful.

Colin got a reaction from Middlin in General Election 2019
I wonder, given all the (well publicised) comments that have come out of the EU, just WHO is trying to convince the "gullible" ones here ?
-
Colin reacted to Spinner72 in General Election 2019
Thats not what they actually say, either side, as anyone can see if they look at the relevant documents. The SNP has always and still do define independance as independant from the UK *and* the EU.
The EU has repeatedly said it would be almost impossible for and independant Scotland to join the EU, citing how long it has taken for new countries to join, and that this would be a case of a member country leaving, then trying to rejoin.
But, of course, it's a shame to ruin a perfectly good fantasy with facts so carry you on
-
Colin reacted to Claadehol in General Election 2019
So Evil Inky thinks we have a great chance of joining the EU as an independent country. What about the deficit? No chance unless you can magically bring that down.
And the SNP are saying they are are going to increase pensions by a massive amount. That will actually double the deficit so that will certainly sink your hopes.
You're in cloud cuckoo land....

Colin got a reaction from Windwalker in General Election 2019
Given that large parts of Scotland and it's resources are already "owned by foreigners", how will voting for independence "cure" that ?
Are we going to buy everything back ? If so, just WHO is going to have to pay for it.
Are we just going to take everything back ? If so, will we have to "fight" for it or just become another "Zimbabwe".
One thing is for sure, we will NOT be allowed to (re) join the EU without giving a whole heap of it away again.!

I thought that the United Kingdom was called "Great Britain" for a reason.
Are you seriously suggesting that countries like Germany, France, Spain and everywhere else in the world do not have "regions" ?
Bet that the residents of Saxony, Brittany, and what about the Basques amongst others might take issue with that.

Colin reacted to Suffererof1crankymofo in General Election 2019
What's ridiculous is some people trying to make out that UK policies and laws aren't affected by the EU whatsoever; perhaps one day they'll open their eyes. Being dictated to by the EU as to what tax is to be levelled sure as hell makes us 100% independent NOT.
-
Colin got a reaction from Suffererof1crankymofo in General Election 2019
Yes, BUT according to the SNP, The majority of Scottish voters voted "Remain" which says to me that the SNP have a HUGE problem if Independence also means (according to Brussels) that Scotland has to leave the EU.
Wonder how they will "dress that up" if they get their way ?
-
Colin reacted to Spinner72 in General Election 2019
" And of course it's possible to be an independent country and member of the EU, and 62% of Scottish voters wished to remain in the EU at the referendum."
Technically true, and oft touted by the confused, but do not forget that leaving the EU was a major campaign point for the SNP in 2014, and still would be today if it weren't for the negativity about Brexit.
The fact is that Scottish Independence means leaving the EU. Sure, we can then apply to join but we all know the (still standing) official EU stance on that.

If we knew just what we were eating, then I guess that we wouldn't eat the half of it.
Good bet that the time is coming when "Soylent Green" will be on the menu. At least that might reduce the population somewhat.,

Colin got a reaction from Suffererof1crankymofo in The Importance of Vaccinations
FWIW, I did not use the old Darwinian cliche, "survival of the fittest". I said "best equipped". Just saying.
I also read the article on Samllpox in Foula. Distressing for all but, it is worth noting that, unlike Smallpox, Measles rarely kills so many and survival rates are high.
-
Colin got a reaction from Suffererof1crankymofo in The Importance of Vaccinations
FWIW, when I was a child, I nearly died from a dose of german measles but, I DO NOT support universal vaccination.
If a disease takes you out of the gene pool then, so be it. Callous (and sad) attitude I know but, this isn't about the individual, it's about the species and survival of the "best equipped" is better for everyone.

I fully accept that climate change is an issue which will take some inventive thinking, and as I get older I’m more conscious of my carbon footprint, doing what I can to reduce it.
But come on, if anyone thinks the shambles of a protest, with their climbing on electric trains, disrupting everyday commuters and dancing around looking like half stoned hippies has helped their cause, they are as off their heads as a lot of those protesters appeared.
This type of protesting does little to bring people on board and has more than likely put more people off.
