I was told that char were a relic of the ice age and found only in Mountain lochs---like Girlsta and ones in the mountains of Wales. I do know that they are fished in the mountain lakes in Norway and served up in the hotels nearby.if not further afield. The ones we had were small and served two or three to a dish.

Ern Stack in the Wast neeps in Yell is where the last eagle was killed. The ome which took the baby from Braehead near Norwick has its eyrie in the Blue Banks of Fetlar . The boy was on his way home from the shop at Urie when the men were discussing who could go down the old rope. It is said that in later years the boys mother sent him to get a quern stone from Unst and call to see how the lass was. there aredescendants in the island here as well as Gussie.
