Whalsay will again be outright favourites for the League this year. Not just down to there playing surface but the quality of players in their team. They won the league last year with bad injuries to Colin Anderson and Karl Williamson, both are back fit this campaign. Its going to be another close year with Spurs certainly hoping to bolster a strong challenge. You can never rule out Celtic with the young players coming home, Connor Reagan and James Aitken can still bring success to the club, but will the loss of Webb be too much for them? I dont care what anyone says on here, Celtic losing Webb is a massive blow for them. Webb is a quality player, you just have to look at last seasons Dream Team table to prove that. I think Celtic can cope without Webb, but to posess such a strong challenge towards the league without a player of Webbs ability?... I think they'll fall well short. Going to be an interesting season though, and after all these friendlies, will Thistle be a surprise package???

I beleive that the clearance for non scottish players has come about because of that mess at Cosmos last year with that welsh player that gave false information. And no I have not been a bad boy

I can confirm that Paul Malloy has signed with Spurs. Having not been at the game on wednesday (Whalsay v Spurs) myself, I have a close friend who took a trip up to see it. He came back and said that Spurs looked like a realy good outfit. Players playing in different positions with alot of pace going forward. "Davy Mac will have a headache when it comes to team selection" was his very words. Everything was coming through Jordan Webb and Sam Ward in midfield and JJ wasnt even playing. He reckons Spurs will be serious challengers this year on all fronts but Whalsay will still be the team to beat. Karl Williamson was back in midfield along with Keith Pearson and Alistair Johnson amongst the other stand outs.

Tractor - can you explain why you think Spurs have less potential as Celtic? Spurs have every potential if not more now as Celtic with the signings they've made. Oldest player in their team is James Johnston and he still has 3/4 years in him yet. It is a very youthful squad with alot of experience. Most of the players are between 22-28 along with a couple very gifted younger players coming through the ranks. Spurs also have the bonus of not many (one or two) players being away at university.

I dont think thomspon has made up his mind yet as far as iv heard? Rumours flying about why Jordan Webb left Cletic, I personally spoke to him and the reasons he gave me were the same iv heard from a few people. I think the bottom line was that he simply wasn't happy, as far as i gather celtic training has been poorly attended with little effort through the players that are home was what sealed it for him. any other rumours about why he left he says are rubbish. Spurs came and what they said obviously appealed to him, if he is going to be happier training and playing there then thats his decision. In the end for all the boys playing in Shetland, if your not enjoying your hobby then your fighting a losing battle, Webb has taken a big step and from what i hear has recieved a lot of stick about it. I'm sure he will let his football do the talking on the pitch this coming season to try and silence that. Although I have heard that Webb's signature isn't actually on paper yet.. You have to feel for Celtic though, with lots of boys away at university and that problem only likely to get worse over the next couple of years, could things become worse? Any other signings??

Regarding the Spurs players, I don't think Scott Morrison would have done himself any favours regarding chasing the County Squad by spending half a season in the Works League! stumpy bob, in Morrisons defence, I know he only played in the works league as his job stopped him from attending monday and friday games. He'd rather be playing some shetland football as none atall. When fit tho, should be knocking on that door no problem atall

Having seen most of Spurs home games the last 2 seasons I can arguebly confirm that there should be more as just James Johnston in the county squad. Yes these players seem to be jinxed with injury but when fully fit and playing to the ability they can play at Lewis Kay, Sam Ward, Scott Morrison, Joe Leask and Connel Gresham are all top candidates for the county select. On the Jamie Wilson saga, theres no denying that boys talent, you ask any defender in Shetland who they least like playing against and 9 times out of 10 over the past 5 seasons they would say Wilson, the boy is strong, fast and a clinical finisher, if he joined Celtic playing with the likes of Aitken and Webb he'll bag alot of goals, he'll be in my dream team thats for sure.

A few notable comings and goings are: Jordan Hunter has left Celtic and joined Spurs, whilst Connel Gresham has moved to the mainland and is likely to miss the season as he has no plans of coming back Veteran Michael Williamson has joined Thistle along with Stevie Coutts stepping up from works league outfit Real Cosmos John Wiliiam Laurenson has moved from Burra to Scalloway As far as awards go, I think James Aitken will win top goalscorer and James Johnston player of the season as I believe this will be a good year for Spurs FC

Those of you that are moaning about the bar,etc at Clickimin over the weekend really do have to take a look at the bigger picture. This was the first time anything the sheer size of the Darts has been at Clickimin. No one including staff really knew what to expect from the day. Yes Clickimin has hosted many good and big nights for the Folk Festival but thats been going on for years so they know what to expect. This however was a learning curve for those who were involved, and Im sure that if they come back up next year all the little bits and pieces that were missed this time around will be taken care of next time round. As for cueing, DONT BE REDICULOUS!!! If you go anywhere across the country to a big sporting or music event you'll find you have to cue for ages!!! I went to watch Rangers v Hamilton a few years ago and missed 2 goals at the start of the second half because I was cueing for a bloody pie!!! Big congratulations to all who was involved with the organisation of the Darts weekend, credit must go to the Clickimin for organising an event with such major stars on the Darts circuit. Well Done and hopefully we'll see them plus Barney next year!!!

Yes Penfold, Whalsay have appointed Robert Geddes as their new manager. Spurs travelled to Whalsay missing a keeper, no James Johnston, Alan Page, Darren Johnston (Disco), Shane Jamieson, David Mann or Martin Leishman. Whalsay were missing a first choice keeper, Richard Arthur and Gary Jamieson. Goals for Spurs came from Josie Kay (3) and a couple of debut goals for Scott Morrison. Unsure of Whalsay scorers as my source never knew who they were. To come away from the "Bonnie Isles" with a win regardless of who was on the park is not easy, so well done to the Milkbags. Word has it, young Erik Thompson will be heading down under in June so that could scupper Celtics title hopes a little. Although they should be strong enough without the young hit man. Shaping up to be an interesting season...
