  1. Jeremy Clarkson went too far - and you appear to have done the same?
  2. Moan, Moan, Moan at P&O.. Moan, Moan, Moan at Northlink.. Does this not tell you something about certain people in the Shetlink Community? Oh! and we never mention the Norrona, do we Sanjay.. Have you noticed, that when the weather gets colder and snow is imminent - that icepick239 really starts to get into full stride again
  3. All over for the time-being then? The only things missing were the blazing torches.... Brian Smith seems very happy on how it all went, but what will he feel like when the time comes for the inevitable redundancies... A Buchan and team will have surely run financial models covering these types of scenarios, in their quest to bring order to the SIC Annual Budget and to retstrict indiscriminate and wasteful spending as in the past... Peerie Calculation for anyone who is interested: SIC Staff, numbers about 3200+ A 10% cut in staff will see 320 leave service. At say a mean wage/salary of 24,000, that would equal 7,680,000 in savings per annum. All the remaining employees will no doubt receive extra benefits that have probably already been negotiated by way of increased Pension, Salary etc... The aforementioned savings of 7,680,000, divided by the remaining number of staff may be seen as follows... i.e. staff numbers of 2,880 = 2,666 for each and every staff member on average per annum... This then, is what the council would 'put-away' for future use and any further increases in the years to come.... The winners in all of this are the one's who will have jobs (yes, and at a higher rate) but paid for by the losers, who would now be Central Governments problem not the SIC's.... I feel that the strike today was a huge opportunity missed and should have been to safeguard all the jobs in the SIC, instead of supporting some Macro reasonings dreamed up by Union Bosses down south and followed by their acolytes here in Shetland....
  4. Kavi... CT - Charitable Trust. Instead, in your case, it seems to mean Conspiracy Theorist.. By the way, back in the past, it took longer for an apprentiship to complete, than a Law Degree....
  5. @Muckle - It seems to be systematic in Politics (local or otherwise), that most of these old guys in power, who are away-long past being any good to anybody - just refuse to go, or else they try to go with conditions attached..... They should all go and lie down, or watch the 24 Hour News Channels As I said before: A Buchan now runs Shetland, so maybe they are already doing that....
  6. With the likes of you 2 in support, that's Sanjay's political future well assured....
  7. Not withstanding the miriad of factors in both disputes how would you have kept both those examples in the forefront of world competition in the face of factors such as subsidised competition and out sourcing to countries with lower standards of living and conditions relative to those expected by the majority of citizens in this country, both those who work and contribute and those who don't? If the country is to return to victorian "Laissez-faire" regulation then there will be alot more feeling the "wind of change" than there is at the moment. As you say, a myriad of factors... Funny how you mention the 'Wind of Change' But you neglected to mention the serious influence of Communism in regard to the Seamans' Strike of 1966... This was stated by Harold Wilson, Prime Minister in an Emergency Session in the House of Commons...
  8. Surely Brian Smith of UNISON, in receiving yet another personal e-mail from Davey Thomason in Australia must find this embarrassingly unwelcome - (or does he) After all, it was Davey himself, once more seeking some sort of personal on-going recognition, who also sent it for publication in the Readers Views of the Shetland Times of 25th November, 2011.... It should be recognised, that Wednesday will be extremely disruptive, but probably more to the liking of the above mentioned, rather than to the people who will be directly or indirectly involved.... Using terminology such as Comrades, Solidarity, Brothers and Sisters, shows how some haven't adapted to Britain 2011. A selected history lesson... The Seamans strike 1966....only a handful of British Crews left in 2011. The Miners Strike 1984........only a handful of Pits working in Britain.
  9. ^ Whit? Anusalve? That wouldn't do much for anybodys 'bottom' line...
  10. Whar's me Gift - there are 10,001 Registered Members noo.... If nithing is forthcoming, then I will have to start slamming the 4 x 4 Erses once more...
  11. If we assume that A Buchan and his Team now virtually run Shetland, I would be very careful about any stupid and harmful action at tjis time. All one has to remember is that the SIC is heavily overstaffed by about 15%, so why not make this the main reason for any planned action and try to protect these people now and not disrupt peoples lives for some future so-called problem, by blindly following some edict from Trade Union Bosses down South and in Shetland? Merry Christmas....
  12. Incorrect. Perish the thought, Grotesquecos already sell it too. My dear fellow, you forgot lighTer fuel. Lighter Fuel may mak da Cooch move, but it winna drive yer Peugeot very far...
  13. Well you know what 'thought' thought? After my more serious Post (I think abt 13 back) I have not seen any serious comment by you on this thread? So why not join in a serious debate, (if not) come and have some fun? By the way: I don't believe there is such a thing as 'Cheaper Fuel' - there is only 'Fuel'.....
  14. @unlink - Increase order please, (the 12 days of Christmas etc) for 1 Doz Kronnenbourg 1664's.... Oh, and better get 'Him Indoors' a dozen as well... It is a known fact, that in some folks they can be a major Aphrodisiac... My K's will be returning to 'T' - and driven at 20mph by my Chaffeuse...
  15. Wotcha Mate, you're talking to a person here, who could be supping a Kronnenbourg 1664 in The Sumburgh Hotel, 2 hours 23 minutes after leaving the T - running all the way.. It's the getting back that worries me.... MEMO: take mobile phone, ring chauffeur for return journey...
  16. See Ghostrider, I told You I had a good reason for taking so long coming back from Grotesquecos the other night and that some old git looking about 90 was doing 20mph for ages until moi in my lurvely 'it can't half shift but burns the juice' Peugeot 307 whizzed by the snail-like Fiat. By the way Icepick, your left-hand side indicator ain't working. By the way unlink, I have a magnetic personality and so, is the fabled 'Cooch' a 3-seater?
  17. What you say is probably correct, but the minute Tesco sets up a Petrol Station here in Shetland, the 5p difference cannot, will not apply.... Competition from other Shetland based Stations will come into play. The cost of getting Tesco petrol up to Shetland will become a major factor in their SP. Tesco buys its Petrol from BP, Shell etc and also on the Spot Markets. Any attempt by them to maintain a large Margin of 5p over other Shetland Suppliers, will attract the attention of the Price Commission. Anyone breaking the Code, can be fined, almost out of existence. What Tesco will rely on, is supplying fuel at a couple of pence below others, but that is just the lure for buying, not 5 bags of groceries but maybe 7 while some kind person on minimum wages 'Tanks you up, while you spend'... How do I know this? Sorry for scoffing at you mikeyboy, but the South is not Shetland..... PS - Not many Tesco Stations in the Western Isles and other parts of Highland Scotland is there? Small population maybe?....
  18. Hoi, you in charge - the last time I looked, there were only 38 New Registrations to go ,to hit the 10,000.... Now there seems to be 100 left to go? Tt appears your system maybe counting backwards...
  19. Oh that was you was it? Peugeot Cars qnd Carla Bruni are the only things French that I really like.. After a major re-paint to Racing green, by the Blackhill Good-Old Boys, I discovered a bloody great hole in the floor (driver's side). So my dear, yes it really was a 90 year old, running at 20mph, that decided to let you pass, just outside Toab somewhere... PS - Left-hand side indicator - I don't care. Whit's good enough for King Stuart, is good enough for Moi....
  20. So you are a believer??? Tesco's Advertising says - "We are here to save you money" Tesco Profits last year were 3.4 BILLION... No Red T for these guys.... Great Car you've got there Shetlandpeat - Tesco will welcome you.... No im not a believer you were just wrong.Wrong???? Why, has it happened already, is Tesco already selling fuel - in Balta maybe as a try oot???? Ooops - just getting rid of 1 Laff
  21. Yes, but....>> > http://www.diecastcars.tv/images/22098Y.JPG No, No, No, I telt da boys on the Blackhill Estate, dis was my pride and joy, and to paint it 'Racing Green' They obviously thought I worked for the Coocil and the shop went into their usual 'overdrive' mode to please.
  22. If you fill her up, you can have a 10 min shot Thank you, but I think I'll keep true to my Fiat 500 Just don't paint your car "Yellow" as the Plebs may think it's another Cooncil vehicle and that Flo Jo has passed her driving test at last
  23. So you are a believer??? Tesco's Advertising says - "We are here to save you money" Tesco Profits last year were 3.4 BILLION... No Red T for these guys.... Great Car you've got there Shetlandpeat - Tesco will welcome you....
  24. My God, can you just see it? The 4 x 4 Erses will be unloading the contents of their 5 Tesco Trolleys into their Humvees' etc, while 'saving' a massive 1p on every litre bought at the Tesco pumps.
