  1. Tomorrow's headline: Cllr Grains retires - local taxi firm goes bust

I spent about nine weeks in GB and Aberdeen and cannot recall any kind of staff abuse occuring during that time. Generally the staff were attentive and sympathetic and cheerful. If someone is disturbed due to drugs (either self-administered or to help them heal) the staff have to take this in their stride. They do a good job. Some level of stress has to be accepted as part of the job and every profession experiences it.
  3. Its worth remembering: Community Councillors are volunteers They do not get paid and rarely claim expenses They are strictly non-political They have to follow the same ethical code as local authority councillors There are nearest to the electorate in the democratic system
  4. When are we going to be allowed to know just what this incredible plan is?
  5. Macbeth 3.4 141/142 for Lennox read Cluness
  6. Mr Buchan seemed a bit over eager to leave Orkney for a time. I wonder why? I understand that he has not yet met all his department heads.
  7. My Grandfather used to say "There's none so deaf that don't want to hear"! If you are doubtful dig it out for yourself. End of posts on this subject.
  8. All those who should know have been advised including some media outlets. All the information is freely available either on the Web or for the sake of asking and could have been accessed by Council officials before Mr Clark was interviewed. Mr Clark was claiming Paul Gatrill as his close partner as late as May/June 2009.
  9. The French translation printed is Google garble. The relevance of the Paul Gatrill affair (Gatrill was found guilty in Paris in 1997 of corruption for taking a FFr1m backhander for selling BP's former HQ for around half its value) is that the same Paul Gatrill was "a close partner" of Mr Clark and apparently acted as a referee for him. A close partnership with a convicted criminal must certainly raise questions about Mr Clark's judgement if nothing else.
  10. To be fair to Mr Laidler he did achieve a 2.2 (not exactly a high achiever) Honours degree (after 4 years of full-time study) in Building Surveying at the University of Northumbria. However no professional qualifications can be found. His "consultancy" turns out to be a building & civil engineering company with no office, no premises and no landline 'phone. Mr Clark who was "Projects Director" of his "consultancy" was apparently the only working member of staff of an outfit which operated from a one-bedroom flat (in which he and his wife also lived) in Motherwell. His accounts suggest a very low turnover.
  11. Trading Standards will tell you "If something looks too good to be true it almost always is". Its a universal truth! The French connection is headed "Taxi pour la defense" -l'Humanite. If you have Dalzell Projects website - read it!
  12. I agree that the Theft Act 1968 does not apply to Scotland - however there will be something that does if only the 1607 Act! If you doubt the facts - do the research! Mr Clark has now removed his Dalzell Projects website but someone will have it. Some of the Gatrill information is in French but with your command of language that's surely no barrier.
  13. Answering the Mod - I have! These are facts which are public knowledge and can be accessed by anyone. Theres more to come: Mr Clark reported to Councillors that Laidler was a "qualified" surveyor. Enquiries to all the reputable professional institutions reveal that he is not. Gatrill (said to be one of Clark's referees) was convicted in Paris of a massive fraud involving many millions of francs - there were also suicides and murders connected with this fraud. Clark had "a close partnership" with Gatrill. Look on the Web - its all there.
  14. (*** Mod - Blah, blah, blah. Send it to the paper with your name and address, then it will be worth reading ***)
